**Senju Clan Land**
Young Tsunade held a thick book in her hands, reading it diligently. The book, adorned with an illustration of the human body on its cover, was a medical text from the Senju family's collection.
In today's Konoha, the powerful bloodline families monopolize knowledge. Ordinary civilian ninjas graduate from ninja schools equipped only with the basics: transformation, clone, and substitution techniques.
For civilians wishing to learn other ninjutsu, options are limited.
They can pledge themselves to a bloodline family and earn battlefield merit in exchange for learning ninjutsu.
If fortunate, a guiding Jonin might teach them a move or two, though such generosity is rare.
Currently, nearly all Jonin in Konoha hail from ninja families, which have strict rules against sharing family ninjutsu with outsiders. Of course, creating one's own ninjutsu is allowed.
Knowledge related to medical ninjutsu is particularly precious, reserved for ninja families.
Uzumaki Mito sat at the room's threshold, enjoying the sun's warmth. People often enjoy soaking up the sun as they age, and at nearly fifty, she was considered long-lived in a world where ninja lifespans are typically short.
Seeing Tsunade bounce back from sadness so quickly filled Uzumaki Mito with happiness. Her granddaughter was proving herself resilient.
Although she didn't know why Tsunade suddenly took an interest in medical ninjutsu, a subject she previously ignored, Mito was pleased.
The Senju and Uzumaki clans, with their vast chakra reserves—believed to be inherited from the Sage of Six Paths' Yang Release—were naturally suited for medical ninjutsu. Consequently, these families hold the largest collections of medical texts.
Uzumaki Mito was well-versed in these skills and had once planned to teach Tsunade, but her granddaughter preferred learning powerful combat techniques.
Now, Tsunade's newfound interest in medical ninjutsu delighted Mito. As long as it made Tsunade happy, Mito didn't question it.
If Tsunade applied herself, Mito was confident she could train her to become the most formidable medical ninja in the world.
Tsunade frowned at the densely packed words in the book. Many obscure terms eluded her, tempting her to tear the precious pages.
It seemed she was struggling.
Uzumaki Mito, observing Tsunade's expression, saw she was nearly at her wit's end with frustration.
"Tsunade-chan, you look like you're having some trouble," Mito said, walking over to Tsunade and glancing at the page. It covered Yang Release and the human body's structure, topics beyond Tsunade's current knowledge.
"Grandma, there are so many terms here I've never seen before. What's this about chakra?" Tsunade asked. She knew asking questions was wise, especially with Mito, a medical ninjutsu expert, to guide her.
"The so-called Yang Release..."
Mito began teaching Tsunade, explaining step-by-step, pausing at critical moments to see if Tsunade could grasp the key concepts with a hint.
Tsunade, the future top medical ninja, showed her natural talent in the field, exceeding Mito's expectations by answering questions and even making inferences.
This progress delighted Uzumaki Mito, seeing her medical skills would have a worthy successor.
"I must become the strongest medical ninja in Konoha," Tsunade declared, her confidence restored after understanding the material. Her "grand ambition" puzzled Mito, who remembered Tsunade's original goal was to become Konoha's first female Hokage.
"Little Tsunade, tell Grandma why you're interested in medical ninjutsu now," Mito asked, curious.
Tsunade's smile faltered, sadness flashing briefly before she forced a smile.
"Grandma, during my mission at Konoha's hospital, I saw many wounded soldiers returning from the front lines. Their faces were full of pain, and some died from their injuries."
"If I were an excellent medical ninja, I could save them. Maybe if I were better at medical ninjutsu and had been with Second Grandpa, I could have helped treat him, and maybe he wouldn't have died."
Tsunade's innocent words broke Uzumaki Mito's heart. Tsunade, having never experienced battlefield horrors, didn't grasp the realities. An opponent who could isolate Tobirama couldn't be countered even by the best medical ninja.
Tsunade's words cast a somber mood. Uzumaki Mito quickly shifted the conversation to more medical knowledge, to lift Tsunade's spirits.
Outside the Senju Clan gate, Senju Momoma was eager to see Uzumaki Mito upon returning to Konoha.
The usually open gate was closed, adding to Momoma's unease.
"Open the door!" Momoma called, knocking. A head peeked out, recognized him, and opened the gate.
"Young patriarch is back."
"What's going on? Why is the door closed in broad daylight?"
The gate was closed to deter families seeking information.
The young clan leader likely hadn't heard of Senju Tobirama's death. It was best for Mito to break the news.
The Senju clansman guarding the gate explained, "This is Lord Mito's order. She's waiting for you inside."
Momoma nodded, hurrying to Mito's room, soon finding her.
"Mother, I'm back."
Mito, hearing his voice, rushed out.
"Good boy, you've grown stronger and darker," she observed. Momoma, once a bit immature, had matured through battlefield experience.
"Tsunade's here too. Have you been naughty in the village? Gambling behind your grandmother's back?"
"No!" Tsunade cried, hugging Momoma. She hadn't seen her father in a long time.
"Mother, why did you call me back so urgently? Did something happen in the village?"
"Come with me," Mito said, a trace of sadness passing over her as she led Momoma to another room.
"Where's Uncle Tobirama? I haven't seen him in a while. Is he still at the Hokage's office?" Momoma asked casually. In his arms, Tsunade, once excited, burst into tears.
"Second Grandpa, he's gone!!"
"Wuwuwu!!!"
Mito shot a reproachful look at her son. She had moved to another room to avoid reminding Tsunade of her grief.
Now she had to console her all over again.
