Chapter 25: 025 This Mission Is Too Dangerous
On their way back to Konoha, Jiraiya suddenly received an urgent mission and headed to the location first.
Simu and the others finally returned to Konoha two days later.
Minato suggested, "How about we go out for a nice meal tonight?"
Kushina immediately agreed excitedly: "Okay, okay, let's eat Ichiraku ramen, I haven't eaten ramen for a long time."
Minato took a look at Hyuga Lindy, and invited her actively: "If Lindy wants to go, come with us."
"Is it okay?" Hyuga Lindy asked hesitantly.
She had never had many friends growing up, so she wasn't used to Kushina's enthusiasm just yet.
"Of course you can!" Kushina said as she hugged Lindy's arm.
Friendships between girls can be magical. In just a few days, Kushina and Lindy had become as close as sisters.
Minato then turned to Simu and asked, "What about you?"
Simu was more than happy to join.
He had been eating Soldier pills and fish lately, and he was starting to feel sick of it. Enjoying some ramen would be a nice change.
But just as they were about to leave, a ninja suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Hanyu Simu, the Hokage wants you to hand over the mission report".
Simu frowned and replied, "Can't Minato handle it instead?"
He glanced up at the darkening sky, thinking that at this hour, he should be relaxing at home after a good meal.
Hand over the task? Wasn't this just a way of giving him overtime?
Minato didn't mind, but the Anbu ninja shook his head and said, "Hokage-sama specifically assigned you to this mission."
Minato shrugged and gave Simu a helpless look.
"What a hassle," Simu sighed.
"Go ahead to Ichiraku Ramen and wait for me. I'll be back as soon as I can."
With that, he transformed into a flash of light and appeared outside the Hokage's office window.
The Anbu outside was taken aback, and just as he was about to act, the Third Hokage raised his hand to stop him.
Simu ignored it; he wasn't surprised that the Hokage's office had such strong defenses. In fact, without it, Konoha might feel like it was on the brink of collapse.
Simu reached out and knocked on the window, casually asking, "Can I come in, please?"
The Third Hokage sighed and forced a smile. "Come in. Did you pick up this habit of climbing through windows from Jiraiya?"
Simu opened the window and jumped into the room, scratching his head in embarrassment.
"In order to get off work quickly..."
Simu started, sounding almost sincere.
Then he quickly corrected himself, "Ah, no, I mean I wanted to give Hokage-sama's my mission report as soon as possible."
The Third Hokage sighed again, reminding himself that this was Jiraiya's student, and such behavior was to be expected.
In a way, Simu could be seen as a descendant of the Third Hokage.
The Third Hokage sprinkled some tobacco into his pipe and lit it. Normally, he wouldn't smoke in front of his juniors, but he felt he needed it while talking to Simu to keep his frustration in check.
After taking a deep breath, he finally felt a bit more at ease.
"You all did a good job this time," the Third Hokage said.
Simu put his hands in his pockets, found a chair to sit in, and crossed his legs. "Ah, it's not bad"
The Third Hokage took another deep breath. "The commissioner is very satisfied with your work."
Simu nodded indifferently.
He doesn't care about this, he only cares about one thing, and that is to get off work quickly!
He had been on a business trip for a week, and now he had to work overtime right after coming back, which was really frustrating.
Noticing that Simu seemed a bit anxious, the Third Hokage finally asked the real question.
"You killed Wujinmaru?"
At this, Simu's expression changed, and he patted his chest in lingering fear. "Hokage-sama, I'm terrified just hearing you mention him."
"You don't know how frightening Wujinmaru is. His physical skills are extremely strong, and his Wind Style is even more powerful..."
"It was just a little bit—really, only a little! He almost pierced my heart with his sickle!"
While talking, he picked up a cup from the Third Hokage's table, intending to take a sip of water to calm himself.
But after taking a few sips, he seemed a bit disgusted and put it back down.
Noticing the increasingly ugly expression on Third Hokage's face, he finally restrained himself a little.
"In short, this mission was really too dangerous, Hokage-sama. Please don't assign me to missions like this in the future."
"Cough cough cough..."
The Third Hokage coughed a few times, covering his mouth with his palm, his face full of helplessness.
Jiraiya had described the situation as "crushing Wujinmaru."
However, looking at Simu, he didn't seem like someone with Jōnin-level strength.
"Forget it. Let me tell you something," the Third Hokage continued.
"Jiraiya has been called away for a special task, and it may take some time. During this period, your team is free to arrange practice. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me directly."
Simu's eyes suddenly lit up.
"So, that means we don't have to travel for a while... no more missions?" Simu asked, his face lighting up with excitement.
Seeing this, the Third Hokage shook his head helplessly. "Yes."
"Got it, Hokage-sama!"
