Chapter 228: Chapter 227: The Four-Tails, Son Gokū
Chapter 227: The Four-Tails, Son Gokū
Boom!!
A small mushroom cloud formed.
The towering cliff was partially leveled in an instant. The miniature forest created by Sharen's Wood Release: Nativity of a World of Trees was completely obliterated.
Sharen slowly descended from the air. The markings of Sage Mode—the eye shadow and facial lines—had disappeared entirely.
This time, the Rasenringu had been infused with a certain amount of Senjutsu chakra, making it even more powerful and destructive.
His feet landed on the ground, now covered in freshly upturned earth due to the impact of the explosion. What remained beneath him was nothing but dust and debris, remnants of the devastation.
He scanned the landscape—what had once been a towering rock face was now almost entirely flattened.
"Cough, cough—"
Not far away, a section of seemingly untouched soil shifted, and a figure slowly crawled out, covered in a thick layer of dust.
It was none other than Kakuzu, who had been caught in the blast radius of the Rasenringu.
He looked rather disheveled, but apart from that, he had suffered no major injuries. The four masks on his back and the one embedded in his chest remained intact.
His expression, however, was slightly sour as he gazed at Sharen with a hint of grievance.
If he hadn't reacted quickly enough, he might have lost a few valuable hearts.
Nonetheless, the mission objective had been met. The Four-Tails had not fully emerged, and the transformation had been halted at the three-tailed stage.
"That guy isn't dead, is he?" Kakuzu asked flatly after dusting himself off.
Sharen shook his head. "In a tailed-beast state, he wouldn't die so easily. I saw him make a last-minute attempt to defend himself. Unlike some people, who barely escaped and nearly got caught in the blast."
Kakuzu's face darkened. He wanted to retort but held his tongue.
He feared that Sharen, being as petty as he was, might hold a grudge and take revenge later. In fact, he even suspected that this entire ordeal was a form of retribution for Sharen being targeted by him in the past.
And frankly, that wasn't an impossibility.
So instead of arguing, he just muttered internally, You think everyone has a Tailed Beast protecting them?
Sharen ignored Kakuzu's internal complaints and pressed his hands against the ground. Earth Release: Earth Core Movement!
A platform of rock emerged from the dust and rubble, lifting a severely injured yet still-breathing Roshi into the air.
Roshi was in a terrible state—his body was covered in wounds, his breathing was weak, and his clothing was completely tattered. He looked like he had just crawled out of a grave.
But as a ninja, dignity outweighed such concerns.
Kakuzu, now feeling somewhat vindicated, glanced at Roshi's miserable state and felt much better. At least I wasn't the worst off.
"We should heal him a little," Kakuzu suggested. "Otherwise, he might actually die."
Sharen nodded but didn't fully heal Roshi. As a Jinchuriki, his recovery ability was already formidable. As long as he wasn't fatally wounded, he would eventually regenerate.
Moreover, keeping Roshi in a half-dead state served Sharen's interests.
After ensuring Roshi's survival, Sharen turned to Kakuzu. "I need to extract some of the Four-Tails' chakra. Keep watch; that last explosion might attract unwanted attention."
Kakuzu gave him a look but complied, walking a distance away and finding a clean spot to sit down.
He wasn't an idiot. He knew Sharen was up to something he didn't want him to see. Otherwise, given the scale of that explosion, who in their right mind would willingly come closer?
Sharen nodded, satisfied with Kakuzu's understanding. He then pulled out a small glass vial from a sealing scroll.
Inside, suspended in a pale green liquid, were a pair of preserved eyes.
Sharingan.
One of them was an unused Uchiha eye, while the other was a fully matured Three-Tomoe Sharingan—belonging to Uchiha Fugaku.
Sharen carefully removed the Three-Tomoe eye and used medical ninjutsu to numb his eye socket. Then, with precise movements, he extracted his own eye and replaced it with the Sharingan.
As soon as his chakra coursed through the new eye, the Three-Tomoe pattern spun into existence.
Sharen frowned slightly.
No matter how powerful the Sharingan was, a foreign eye would always feel somewhat unnatural. But he knew he would eventually grow accustomed to it.
As his brow relaxed, wooden tendrils sprouted from his neck and shoulders, twisting into a spiral-like mask that covered his face, leaving only his newly implanted Sharingan exposed.
Now, he bore a striking resemblance to a certain future Akatsuki member.
Satisfied, Sharen activated his new eye and muttered, "Madara wanted me to study the Sharingan and the Senju's power… probably hoping I'd use it against the Uchiha."
He chuckled. "Too bad for him—I was already researching both long before he suggested it."
Sharen then placed a hand on Roshi's abdomen. "Let's see what the inside of a Jinchuriki's mind looks like…"
A swirl of disorientation later, Sharen found himself inside Roshi's sealed space.
It resembled a fiery hellscape, the ground resembling molten lava.
In the center stood four massive black pillars, each linked to thick chains that bound a towering beast—a giant, fiery-furred ape.
The Four-Tails, Son Gokū.
Upon seeing Sharen, Son Gokū immediately let out an earth-shaking roar, rattling its chains.
"Who are you?! How did you get here?!"
Sharen stood on one of the pillars, looking down at the enraged beast, his Sharingan spinning.
Silence filled the space.
Son Gokū's movements slowed, its furious glare fading into a dazed, hypnotized state.
Sharen smirked.
However, the control lasted only a moment before Son Gokū snapped out of it, thrashing violently.
Sharen felt a stabbing pain in his eye and instinctively shut it, rubbing his temple.
"Still not enough. Controlling a Tailed Beast like Madara did is beyond me for now."
Son Gokū roared, "Damn Sharingan! Damn Uchiha!"
Sharen steadied himself, his Sharingan spinning once more.
This time, rather than attempting full control, he cast a powerful genjutsu.
Son Gokū's thrashing ceased.
Satisfied, Sharen placed a hand on Roshi's abdomen in reality and pulled forth a glowing red orb of chakra.
"Sealing Technique: Evil Sealing Method."
With that, he sealed the Four-Tails' chakra in a scroll.
Then, he removed the Sharingan and returned his own eye to its socket.
Hoisting the unconscious Roshi over his shoulder, Sharen turned to Kakuzu. "All done."
Kakuzu raised an eyebrow as he caught Roshi. "That fast?"
Sharen waved a scroll. "Got some extra profit out of it, too."
Kakuzu smirked. Madara's gonna have a stroke when he finds out.
With their business concluded, Sharen departed for the Land of Hot Water, while Kakuzu set off for Takigakure—Roshi in tow, ready to collect their payment.
