Chapter 2: Don't Be Surprised If There Is Something Strange

---

Now there were only two choices before Tonari!

First, he could try to run far away and hide in a secluded corner to avoid being discovered!

Second, he could seek out a force capable of providing shelter, preferably a powerful ninja village!

Tonari considered these two options for less than ten seconds and quickly ruled out the first choice.

Not to mention whether he could even find such a place, or if he could reach it alive in this chaotic world with his small body, the presence of the tailed beast imprisoned within him was more than a problem he could manage!

How much the tailed beasts hated humans was something Tonari understood all too well, thanks to his prior knowledge of the Naruto world from a God-like perspective!

With his own abilities, it was impossible for him to resist the overwhelming presence of the Two-Tails!

Moreover, he was now just a child without any real power.

Originally, if he had relied on his status as the Two-Tails Jinchūriki, he could have possibly gained the trust of the Cloud Village, refined his chakra to become a ninja, and, leveraging his status as a time traveler, had a fighting chance to turn things around.

Unfortunately, the seal designed to eradicate the evil of tongues rendered all of that futile.

Tonari also knew that as a Jinchūriki, he would eventually become a prime target for terrorist organizations, and without a backer, he'd be unable to defend himself.

Thus, only one path remained:

He had to find a ninja village willing to offer him refuge!

In fact, there was no need to look very far because, with the Seal of the Eradication of Tongue Evil, there was only one ninja village that might accept him.

Thinking of this, Tonari felt a surge of anger towards Danzo; he wanted to pull him out of hiding, chop him up, and feed him to the dogs!

How insidious and disgusting it was for someone to target an ordinary child just a few years old!

It was clear what Danzo's intentions were.

His goal was simply to plant spies in major countries and ninja villages.

And now, Tonari was unfortunate enough to be one of those pawns.

However, regardless of how much he despised Danzo, if he wanted to survive, he would need to depend on him to some extent.

Isn't having an obedient and compliant Two-Tails Jinchūriki a nice prospect for him?

Making a quick decision, Tonari set out on the road to the Fire Country!

At least he could be thankful that his former home was on the edge of the Land of Thunder.

Despite the considerable distance to reach the Fire Country, it was still more bearable than taking a route that stretched halfway across the world.

With two thousand taels in cash and a small bag of military ration pills, the frail child embarked on his survival journey.

He chose not to take the remote path but instead headed straight to the largest road, where the footprints of human activity were most prevalent.

...

The day after Tonari left.

It was dawn.

Four figures clad in black tight vests and grayish-white leather garments appeared at the scene, their skin tone slightly darkened.

Looking at the remnants of the house where Tonari had lived, now reduced to ruins, they shared one significant characteristic.

All four wore white masks that obscured their faces.

"Captain, the trail disappears here," said one of them.

The individual standing in front, their captain, replied calmly, "Collect all information in three minutes!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the three men behind him vanished from sight.

Three minutes passed quickly.

The four regrouped.

"There is no trace of tailed beast chakra, and no one around who could become a Jinchūriki!"

"Originally, a seven- or eight-year-old child lived in this house, but his body is missing among the ruins."

"There are signs that someone has departed. The footprints indicate it was probably a child of seven or eight years old, but the trail disappears on the main road!"

After absorbing the messages from his subordinates, the captain deliberated for a moment before decisively ordering, "You two! Bring the body back and inform Lord Raikage that the Two-Tails might be missing!"

Turning to the remaining individual, he commanded, "You! Find the nearest ninja with a dog or other scent-tracking summoning beast, and immediately pursue the trails and scents here!"

"Yes!" the three team members replied, quickly using the teleportation technique to vanish.

As for the captain, he cast one last glance at the ruins before chasing after the direction his subordinates had indicated!

While it was highly unlikely for a child of seven or eight to seize a tailed beast, the timing of this bizarre disappearance suggested something was amiss.

Their team was tasked with tracking down the Two-Tails Jinchūriki who had gone missing in the heat of battle.

If they discovered something, they would need to get to the bottom of it!

The ability to clearly identify the traces of departure indicated that the child had neither the means to evade nor the desire to dodge tracking.

Thus, they should be unable to escape their pursuit!

The four ninjas with special abilities moved silently, leaving no trace behind as they departed.

...

Meanwhile, Tonari had already reached the nearest small town.

Using the money he had taken from the ninjas, he found a public bathhouse.

After thoroughly bathing, scrubbing away all the dirt from his body, he even paid a "high price" to hire a skilled bath scrubber.

Professional technician!

Wrapped in a bathrobe—mainly to conceal the seal pattern on his stomach—Tonari examined himself in the mirror.

"This is the first time I see what I look like now.

Not bad! Although my complexion is a bit unhealthy, you can still make out some of my handsome features."

Tonari pinched his face in the mirror, noting the rosy hue that had returned to his cheeks.

Thanks to the hard work of the bath scrubber, Tonari felt completely revitalized.

His little red nose scrunched into his arm as he nodded in satisfaction.

"Finally, there's no earthy smell anymore."

He found a small stool and sat down on it, oblivious to the water stains.

"The tailed beast has disappeared. Considering the ability of the Anbu from Kumogakure, they should have detected it by now.

Judging from the footprints I purposely left on the ground without any modification, I believe that in their minds, they wouldn't think a little guy who left such obvious tracks could escape their pursuit, so it's inevitable they will continue to follow.

I took the main road, where there were too many footprints and traces. Even the Anbu wouldn't immediately determine to whom they belonged. Additionally, I deliberately wrapped my feet in leaves while walking for a while to further delay their discovery.

I also aimed to complicate matters for them by leading them to Danzo's hidden base, which ought to slow them down significantly.

However, there are still summoned beasts in the ninja world skilled in tracking.

I don't have chakra, so I can't search based on chakra; the most likely possibility is through smell.

I spent so much money hiring that bath scrubber, and he practically rubbed my skin raw. The smell must have dissipated by more than 90%. I'll change into a new set of clothes and buy a fragrant sachet. Even if they manage to find some clues, I will likely have already left the Land of Thunder."

A child who looked no older than seven or eight sat on a chair in a public bathhouse, posing like a thinker—something rather amusing.

Snap——

Tonari patted his head. "No, we can't judge them with overly idealistic expectations. After all, this is a ninja world filled with incredibly powerful characters, and their abilities likely exceed those of special forces from my previous life.

If I underestimate them, I might not survive to tell the tale.

Obviously, buying sachets will leave traces. Purchasing clothes is acceptable, but if a child buys a sachet, people would be surprised.

So..."

Tonari turned to glance at the opposite side of the bathhouse, separated by a wooden wall, where he could hear silver bell-like laughter...

Nose.

Suck—

"I'm just a child now; I shouldn't be beaten, right? It would be wonderful if I could find a nice sachet there..."

Sometimes, when a particularly enticing solution manifests in a person's mind, other potential solutions fade from view.

Especially when this method is appealing enough.

Tonari looked down at himself. Fortunately, for his age, he was in good shape...

Bah, you got the wrong idea!

Or rather, think about how to get there...

Now that he considered it, he felt a flutter of excitement!

He was doing this to survive!

Don't be surprised if something strange occurs!
