Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Confrontation in the Shadows
Jack and Alice, two brave adventurers, after enduring countless hardships, finally traversed the numerous mountains, cutting through thorns and hacking at brambles, and arrived at a secluded valley. This valley was deep and serene, as if isolated from the rest of the world, only leaving behind the beauty of tranquility. However, in this peaceful valley, there lurked a castle shrouded in darkness.
The castle loomed indistinctly, standing at the end of the valley, like a slumbering behemoth waiting for its prey. The stone walls were covered with the mottled marks of time. Each stone seemed to tell a story of a thousand years of vicissitudes. The evil runes glowed faintly in the cold air, emitting a chilling aura that made everyone approaching it tremble with fear.
When Jack and Alice stood in front of the castle, they were enveloped by the solemn and murderous atmosphere. It was so quiet around that they could only hear each other's heartbeats, as if playing a solemn and stirring symphony. They stared at the closed door, their hearts filled with unknowns and unease.
Alice took a deep breath and began to chant ancient magic spells. Her voice was clear and melodious, like the sound of nature. Her hands traced complex patterns in the air, and each movement was accompanied by the whispers of elements, as if summoning mysterious powers. As the spell ended, the seal on the door gradually dissipated, revealing a dark passage leading to the interior of the castle, like an entrance to another world.
They carefully made their way through the passage and found that the inside of the castle was even darker and damper than the outside. The air was filled with a putrid smell, as if something had been rotting here for a thousand years. The walls were covered with moss and mold, and the stone slabs on the ground were uneven due to years of erosion. They tightly gripped their weapons and walked step by step along the corridor, afraid of disturbing this fragile peace.
Suddenly, a low chanting sound echoed in the castle, breaking the momentary silence. The sound was like the wail of a ghost, desolate and mournful. As the chanting grew louder, the surrounding temperature dropped sharply, and the biting cold seeped into their bodies. On the walls, black shadows began to wriggle, as if countless resentful spirits were struggling in pain, trying to break free from their shackles and regain their freedom.
Jack and Alice stopped warily and stood back - to - back, ready to fight at any moment. Their eyes were firm and resolute, showing no trace of fear or hesitation. Just then, a tall figure slowly emerged from the darkness, like a demon descending to the mortal world.
He was wearing black armor inlaid with strange red gems that glowed with an evil light. There was a ferocious mask on his face, only revealing a pair of eyes. Those eyes were deep and cold, as if they could see through people's souls. In his hand was a huge sword that emitted a dark aura, and an ominous black liquid flowed on the sword blade, as if it had devoured countless lives.
"You stupid adventurers, how dare you break into my territory!" The voice of the Shadow Knight was hoarse and cold, as if coming from the depths of hell. "Today is your end!"
Jack launched the first attack. He waved the long sword in his hand, carrying the dual powers of fire and magic, and slashed at the Shadow Knight. However, the strength of the Shadow Knight far exceeded their expectations. He gently waved his huge sword and easily blocked Jack's attack. The powerful impact made Jack's arm go numb, and he almost couldn't hold the sword in his hand. He staggered back a few steps.
Seeing this, Alice immediately cast her most powerful lightning magic. Streaks of lightning shot out from her hands, like silver snakes, striking at the Shadow Knight. However, the Shadow Knight seemed to be immune to lightning. He waved his huge sword, forming a black barrier on the sword blade. The lightning hit the barrier and was instantly swallowed up and disappeared without a trace.
The Shadow Knight launched a counter - attack. As he waved his huge sword, the dark power surged towards Jack and Alice like a tide. They tried their best to dodge, but the speed of the dark power was too fast, and they were soon forced into a desperate situation. The dark power hit the wall, making a deafening noise. Huge holes appeared on the wall immediately, and stones flew everywhere. The whole castle seemed to be shaking.
In the fierce confrontation, Jack and Alice gradually discovered the attack pattern of the Shadow Knight. Although his attacks were powerful and forceful, his movements were a bit slow. He needed a short time to gather strength for each swing of the sword. They began to use their speed advantage, moving quickly in the castle and constantly circling around the Shadow Knight, looking for opportunities to attack.
After a hard - fought battle, they finally found a flaw. At the moment when the Shadow Knight turned around to swing his sword, there would be a brief gap in the back of his armor. Jack winked at Alice, and the two of them launched an attack simultaneously with perfect understanding. They pretended to be defeated and gradually distanced themselves from the Shadow Knight, luring him to chase. While the Shadow Knight was in pursuit, Jack suddenly accelerated towards his back. The long sword in his hand, carrying all his strength and magic power, stabbed at the flaw like a bolt of lightning.
The Shadow Knight sensed the danger, but it was too late to dodge. The long sword pierced through the gap in the armor, and the dark power exploded instantly. Jack was sent flying and fell heavily to the ground. He felt as if he was being torn apart by an invisible force. But the Shadow Knight was also seriously injured. His movements became significantly slower, and the huge sword in his hand fell to the ground limply
