Chapter 2506: Chaotic Battle
Chapter 2506: Chaotic Battle
All the monsters in the hall couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Both the Thousand-Footed Elder and the Demonic Motherbug were top experts of the Monster World, so how could they be defeated in an instant?
In particular, the Demonic Motherbug was so strong that she was close to coming on par with the War Priest and the Shadow Monster King. She was well-known to be a difficult opponent. The longer the battle dragged out, the stronger she became. And yet, she was defeated right away. That was a feat only the Lord of Slaughter and the Monster Lord were only supposed to be capable of.
The Shadowhorror Devil was excited. He could sense the fear lingering in the air, and some of it came from experts of the same caliber as him. Fear from experts was the greatest tonic to him in the world. He felt better than ever.
In contrast, the Monster Lord was frowning. Sensing his subordinates’ low morale, he roared, “That fellow has an evil art that allows him to absorb energy. Be careful!”
Those words snapped the Monster Generals out of their daze. Now that they thought about it, the other party had merely absorbed the Thousand-Footed Elder’s poison fog and used it against the Demonic Motherbug. The Demonic Motherbug had been caught off guard and fallen for it.
The Demonic Motherbug must have been vulnerable to area-of-effect attacks right from the start. Now we know how to deal with her in the future.
The monsters smiled in glee. They were on the same side now, but they were still rivals. That was why they avoided revealing their trump cards and weaknesses, lest the others take advantage of them. It was a good thing for them to learn about a renowned expert’s weakness.
Salamay looked at Zu An in awe. He’s a capable one. It’s a pity I can’t use him...
The Lord of Slaughter was delighted by the twist in the situation. He'd thought that he was doomed, but several helpers had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Where did Mojard find this helper from? Who is that woman?
Most important of all, who is that mysterious expert? His strength appears to be be on the same level as the Eighteen Monster Generals, yet he’s able to curb them with ease. It’s almost as if he knew about their weaknesses beforehand.
The Monster Lord noticed the same thing too. He turned to his remaining subordinates and warned them with a frown, “Something is off about that fellow. Don’t let your guard down. Attack him together and bring him down as soon as possible.”
He had to watch the Lord of Slaughter to stop the latter from escaping. Even though the Lord of Slaughter had sustained severe injuries from the earlier surprise attack, the Monster Generals still weren’t a match for him. Thus, he couldn’t make a reckless move.
Quite a few top experts had been taken out, leaving just the Shadow Monster King, War Priest, Shadowhorror Devil, Doomsday Spirit, and a few others. After seeing how easily he'd defeated the Thousand-Footed Elder and the Demonic Motherbug, they were hesitant to fight Zu An one-on-one. More than that, they were worried that they would be forced to reveal their trump cards. That would be a huge loss to them.
The monsters exchanged looks and soon arrived at a consensus. They would attack Zu An together and settle this as quickly as possible.
The Shadow Monster King was the first one to make a move. He floated into the air and began emitting light like a miniature sun, but unlike a sun, his body at the very center was pitch black.
The black sun suddenly shot out two beams of light. Many in the hall recognized it to be the Shadow Monster King’s ultimate skill—Paralysis Ray! Those struck by it would find their bodies stiffening up, rendering them completely helpless.
Wary of the bizarre movement skill Zu An displayed earlier, the Shadow Monster King utilized soulspeak on top of that. “This move will hit its target.” He wasn’t afraid of letting others know about his soulspeak, as some here already knew about it, and his soulspeak was inferior to Mojard’s anyway.
Zu An’s movement immediately halted, allowing the two Paralysis Rays to strike him squarely.
Salamay was appalled. Why is that fellow so useless? He fell for the Shadow Monster King’s tricks so easily! Isn’t he a tenacious bastard who even killed the Monster Lord?
Zu An had clashed with the Shadow Monster King in the future, so he knew about the other party’s tricks. He could have used ‘Whatcha lookin’ at’ to interrupt the other party’s soulspeak, but he decided against that. He was concerned that the Shadow Monster King and the Monster Lord would recognize him right away as soon as he used the skill against them in the future. He was weaker back when he faced them, and their heightened vigilance could make things dangerous for him. Thus, he'd decided to take on the other party’s control skill instead.
The Monster Lord’s group was delighted to see that. The Shadowhorror Devil and the Doomsday Spirit charged at Zu An. It was the perfect opportunity for them to snatch the kill while the latter was paralyzed by the Shadow Monster King. This would give them more leverage later when discussing contributions and rewards.
The Shadowhorror Devil briefly paused halfway through his charge, as he couldn’t sense any fear from Zu An. This left him confused. He still isn’t panicking yet. Does this mean he has other tricks up his sleeves?
Out of vigilance, he slowed down and allowed the Doomsday Spirit to overtake him. He was thinking of using the latter as fodder to probe the other party’s hand for him.
The Doomsday Spirit did notice the Shadowhorror Devil’s little movement. He’s still as cowardly as ever, even at this point. Looks like I’ll be getting this head.
All of a sudden, however, he heard a bell, and it induced inexplicable fear in his heart.
Isn’t that the Shadowhorror Devil’s renowned artifact—the Horror Bell? Why is he making a move against me?
Ah! He must be a spy from the Lord of Slaughter. That’s why he’s turning against me at this critical moment! No wonder he intentionally slowed down. He was planning to get behind me so he could cooperate with that mysterious man to launch a pincer attack on me!
That raised the Doomsday Spirit’s fear. Without any warning, he turned around and unleashed his attack on the Shadowhorror Devil instead.
The abrupt attack startled the Shadowhorror Devil. He anxiously put up his defense while exclaiming, “What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?”
“I’m out of my mind?” The Doomsday Spirit was infuriated too. “You traitor who defected to the Lord of Slaughter! How dare you turn against us right now?!”
The Shadowhorror Devil was stumped. “What nonsense are you spouting? Why would I defect to the Lord of Slaughter’s side?”
Even the Lord of Slaughter was dumbstruck. Huh, is the Shadowhorror Devil on my side? Why don’t I know that?
The Monster Lord frowned. “Do you have evidence, Doomsday Spirit?”
“Why don’t you ask him where his Horror Bell is?” the Doomsday Spirit roared.
“Of course it’s with...” The Shadowhorror Devil was about to take out his artifact when he suddenly froze in place. Eh? Where’s my Horror Bell?
That evoked the Doomsday Spirit’s sneer, prompting him to attack with greater fervor.
Zu An smirked. He dared to take the Shadow Monster King’s Paralysis Ray head-on because he had made preparations beforehand. He had killed the future Shadowhorror Devil and obtained the Horror Bell from him. He usually didn’t have much use for the Horror Bell, but it was the perfect tool to divide the Monster Generals in this tense moment.
However, he was surprised to see the Shadowhorror Devil unable to produce his own Horror Bell. Could it be that duplicates of an item can't exist at the same point in spacetime, and the moment one is taken out, the others will disappear?
While Zu An was wondering about that, a desolate war horn echoed. Countless cavalrymen appeared out of nowhere and charged at him.
The shocked monsters in the hall hurriedly leaned against the walls to dodge the cavalrymen’s charge. Not even the Lord of Slaughter and the Monster Lord would confront a charging army of such scale.
With the cover of his comrade, the War Priest had unleashed his ultimate skill—Invincible Army!
