Kalyug:The last legacy

Chapter 3: Chapter 3:Sorrow of the monster

This is an emergency broadcast. Apologies for the disturbance, but the cold war between the two titans of the 22nd century has finally erupted... The very future of humanity is at stake. It's not a war—it's a slaughter, a billion versus a billion. The Dragon and the Tiger... The mighty China Alliance has declared war on the Indian Allied Forces..."

The voice crackled through the airwaves, sending a chill down the spine of Kalyan's father. He shot upright from his slumber, heart pounding in terror. There was no time to waste.

With frantic hands, he grabbed his combat gear and strapped on his weapons. His maddychip blinked to life as he urgently contacted one of his old comrades.

"Did you hear it?" his voice trembled with urgency. "We need to move, now. Evacuate the town—immediately."

There was a beat of silence before his friend's voice cut in, colder than the freezing air outside. "I'll take care of it, but you need to leave. Take Kalyan and go—don't look back."

"But—" Kalyan's voice broke, tears streaking down his face. "You'll come back, right? Please, you promised."

His father didn't answer, but his eyes, filled with a silent promise, met Kalyan's. "I will... but you must survive. Promise me."

The town, a quiet, isolated border settlement, was suddenly filled with chaos. Shouts echoed as civilians scrambled, fear and confusion painted on every face. The soldiers, trained for such calamities, were herding them to safety, even as they risked their lives in the chaos. It didn't matter. They were already dead men walking.

Then came the sight of the enemy—a sea of soldiers, a tidal wave of destruction descending upon them. Thousands, armed and ready, towering over the small battalion of soldiers who had sworn to defend the town with their lives.

The war had begun.

Kalyan's father fought, blood spraying into the air like a cruel reminder of what was to come. But the screams of the innocent—those damned civilians—were the hardest to bear. As the desperation reached its peak, an innocent boy fell in the stampede. A shout rang through the air.

"Save him!"

Kalyan's father turned, his heart stopping when he saw the boy on the ground. The terror of the world faded in that moment—he could only think of Kalyan.

He sprinted towards him, disregarding the bullets flying through the air. No hesitation. No second thoughts. Kalyan needed him. But in the same instant, the sharp crack of a bullet rang out, and it struck his father—right in the chest. A single shot. A perfect kill.

The world slowed for Kalyan. He stood there, frozen, his mind unable to process the blood pooling beneath his father's lifeless body. The image of his father, the last thing he held dear, shattered in a heartbeat.

Kalyan was soon taken to an orphanage. The war raged on. A hellish nightmare that swallowed billions, leaving nothing but devastation. The world was changed forever.

Years passed.

At sixteen, Kalyan was a shadow of the boy he once was. His innocence, lost. His soul consumed by a hunger—a thirst for vengeance. No longer did he look at the world with hope. He saw only red. Blood. And death.

He enlisted in the army. A man possessed, driven by a singular, all-consuming purpose.

Revenge.

Commandor L, the hardened leader of the army, was reluctant. "Why? You're just a kid. You have nothing left to fight for. What's left for you?"

But Kalyan's eyes—those eyes—were cold. Dead. The fury inside him burned with an intensity that even the Commandor couldn't ignore. "My father was slaughtered on the first day of this war," Kalyan growled, his voice a low, guttural promise. "And I will make them all pay."

Commandor L saw the madness, the fire of a broken soul seeking nothing but destruction. A monster. But in that monster, he saw the potential to win this war. The vengeance was palpable—like a weapon forged in hell.

"Very well," Commandor L replied, his voice stern. "You'll join tomorrow. I'll take care of you... as a father. But make no mistake, you will either learn to live for this bloodlust, or die by it."

Kalyan's eyes burned. There would be no turning back. The war had only just begun for him—and this time, he would be the one to decide who would live... and who would die.
