Chapter 8: Chapter 7-New Teamates and First Pokemon(Mega Chapter)
The morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Professor Sycamore's lab, casting a warm glow over the bustling workspace. Ash stretched, feeling refreshed after a good night's rest. Pikachu hopped onto his shoulder, nuzzling his cheek.
"Morning, buddy," Ash said with a grin.
Clemont and Bonnie joined him shortly, Bonnie , who had happily settled into her arms overnight. "Morning, Ash!"
Before Ash could answer, Professor Sycamore entered the room, holding a sleek, red device. "Ash, before you head out on your Kalos journey, I have something for you."
He handed Ash the device. "This is the Kalos region Pokédex. It's packed with data on all the Pokémon you'll encounter here. I hope it'll help you on your journey."
Ash took the Pokédex, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "Thanks, Professor! I'll use it well."
As Ash,Clemont Bonnie walked outside, they saw Froakie sitting in front of them its Pokeball in front of it.
"Froakie?" Ash asked, tilting his head.So it really came I thought I might have changed the plot and Froakie will not come, thank god there was no butterfly effect Greninja is my favourite water pokemon,I would have been really sad if it had not come.
Froakie slightly nudged the ball with its face, as though it was asking for Ash to catch it with the Poké Ball.
Bonnie gasped. "Ash! It wants to join you!"
Clemont adjusted his glasses. "Froakie must have been impressed with how you handled the Garchomp situation."
Ash knelt down, taking the Poké Ball from Froakie's hand. "You really want to come with me, huh?"Just formalities froakie I know you really want to come.
"Froakie!" it croaked firmly, nodding.
Ash grinned and tapped the Poké Ball to Froakie's head. The Water-type was drawn into the ball in a flash of red light.
"Welcome to the team, Froakie!" Ash exclaimed, holding up the Poké Ball triumphantly. Pikachu cheered beside him.The pokeball shook slightly as though it was telling him thank you.A smile light up in his face happy at Forakie's response. I never imagined this moment. Froakie was always one of Ash's most loyal Pokémon in the show. But seeing it here, handing me its Poké Ball... I'll have to live up to its trust. .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later that morning, Ash stood in the Pokémon Center's lobby, a large screen in front of him. Nurse Joy helped him complete the registration for the Kalos League.
"All done!" she said with a smile. "You're now officially registered as a competitor in the Kalos League. Good luck!"
"Thanks, Nurse Joy!" Ash said, pumping his fist.
He quickly made his way to the video phone and dialed Professor Oak's number. The screen flickered, and the familiar face of the professor appeared.
"Ah, Ash! Good to see you," Professor Oak greeted warmly.
"Sorry professor could not talk to you properly before, but yeah as you already know I have arrived in Kalos region and thanks for sending Charizard he was really helpful".
"Oh I dont mind that and you looked abit tense when you called me so I did not want to disturb you, anyways Ash enjoy your time make lots of freinds and catch more pokemon."
"Oh yes profesoor I remembered now I wanted to show you something," Ash said, holding up Froakie's Poké Ball.
"Oh? A new Pokémon already?" Oak said, intrigued.
Ash released Froakie, who appeared on the desk, looking up curiously at the screen.
"This is Froakie, my first Pokémon from the Kalos region!" Ash said proudly.
Oak chuckled. "A fine choice! Froakie is it not the starter of Kalos, hmm a water type it is also known for its agility and intelligence. I'm sure the two of you will make a great team."
Froakie gave a lethargic croak at that as though which showed that he was not able to handle rants, earning a laugh from Ash beacuse of the expression he was making.
Rotom at this time came in front came infront of the screen professor tried to handle Rotom and push it away from screen but he got electrocuted by it which caused all three to almost burst out laughing but they some how held it in as they looked at each a sweat formed on thier face.Professor mustered up strength to tell Ash bye as he cut the call telling him to take care of himself and as soon as he cut the call they all started laughing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Ash prepared to leave the Pokémon Center, Clemont and Bonnie approached him.
"Ash," Clemont began, hesitating slightly. "Bonnie and I were talking, and… well, we were wondering if we could travel with you."
"Yeah!" Bonnie added, bouncing excitedly. "It'll be so much fun! Plus, may be I will be able to find a keeper for Clemont."
Ash blinked, surprised. "You guys want to come with me?Keeper?....Oh" he burst out laughing understanding as he remembered all the scenes where Bonnie asked different ladies to be keeper for Clemont.
Clemont's face turned red due to embaressment as he screamed at"Bonnie could you please stop that! You are embarrassing me."
Clemont then cleared his throat and then told Ash" Traveling together would be safer—and, well, more fun right so I though we could join u if you dont mind that is."
Ash grinned, his enthusiasm matching Bonnie's. "Of course you can come! The more, the merrier!"
Pikachu chirped happily from his shoulder, while Froakie nodded in approval.
Clemont then told Ash"The nearest gym is Santalune City, we can go through route 4 to get there."
Ash told "Yep lets then go ahead " with a thumbs,Pickachu and froakie hoped onto his shoulders as they started to move towards route 4.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, Jessie, James, and Meowth stood in front of a video monitor in their temporary base. Giovanni's stern face filled the screen.
"Kalos is a land of opportunity," Giovanni said. "It's home to many rare and powerful Pokémon. Your mission is to capture as many of them as possible for Team Rocket."
Jessie saluted dramatically. "You can count on us, Boss! We won't let you down!"
James nodded. "We'll find the rarest Pokémon in Kalos and bring them back to you."
Meowth added with a sly grin, "And we'll do it in style!"
Giovanni's expression didn't waver. "See that you do. Failure is not an option. And also remember this is your last chance."
The screen went dark, and the trio exchanged determined looks.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Jessie said. "Let's find some rare Pokémon and prove our worth!"
"Right!" James and Meowth chorused.
As they prepared to leave, Jessie glanced at the city map. "Hmm… if I were a rare Pokémon, where would I be?"
James pointed to a spot on the map. "How about we start near Santalune City? That's where the twerp is heading right after all he would have to go to his first gym."
Jessie smirked. "Perfect. Let's get moving!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serena stood in front of her mirror, the soft morning light streaming into her room. She gazed at the hats on her bed. There was a boater hat with a wide brim, made of straw, accented with a simple black ribbon. It was charming, classic, and practical—a style that felt both sophisticated and fitting for a journey.
The other two hats on the bed were also not less impressive. One was a more pink fedora with a black ribbon , and the other was a bright sporty cap, perfect for a day in the sun but not quite what Serena was looking for.
She picked up the boater hat, studying it for a moment, before placing it on her head. The brim tilted just slightly, and she admired herself in the mirror. This feels right, she thought, smoothing her hair beneath the hat. Classic, practical, and it suits me.
Just then, Serena's mother, Grace, entered the room with a soft smile on her face. "Are you going out somewhere sweety, sweetie?"
Sarena turned towards her mom"Ha,yes I want to get my own Pokemon so I decided to head to the Professor's lab."
Grace asked her"Hmm have you decided which pokemon you want to choose?"
Sarena signed still looking at her hats "Yes I have already decided."
Grace asked her "Which?".Serena smirked as she said "That's a secret, now let me choose my hat."
Grace chuckled "What is difficulty every hat looks nice to me just choose one."
Serena laughed, shaking her head. "It's harder than it looks! I want something that's both cute and practical for my journey, but I don't know if I'm making the right choice."
Grace walked over to her daughter, glancing at the hats spread out on the bed. "Well, I think you look beautiful in anything, but this one," Grace said, pointing to the boater hat, "seems like the perfect fit for you."
Serena smiled, but then a mischievous glint came into her eyes. "You always pick the most sensible ones, Mom," she said with a playful smirk. "But I think I'll go with the opposite." Serena grabbed the other hat on the bed, a pink fedora hat , and playfully put it on.
Grace raised an eyebrow, smiling knowingly. "Of course, you would pick the one I didn't choose."
Serena laughed and spun around. "It's a good thing I didn't listen to you! Well of the three hat I had already mentally decided I was not wearing the sporty cap and when u choose the boater I understood I should just wear the pink fedora hat." She took it off and put it back on her head, fixing the ribbon as she looked at herself in the mirror again. "After all you do not have sense of cuteness"
Grace chuckled. "I swear, you always keeping telling me that my fashion sense is totally wrong."
Sarena held back her laugh as she moved towards the stairs "Hmm,I never ever said anything like that."
Serena descended the stairs, her pink fedora sitting neatly atop her head. She adjusted her bag on her shoulder, her footsteps soft against the wooden floor. As she stepped outside, her eyes fell on Rhyhorn, resting in its usual spot near the yard.
She approached it with a small smile, placing a hand on its rough hide. "Hey, Rhyhorn," she said gently. The Pokémon rumbled in response, lifting its head slightly.
"I'm heading out today to get my first Pokémon," Serena continued, her tone light. "Not sure what to expect, but… well, wish me luck, okay?"
Rhyhorn nudged her shoulder, almost playfully, and Serena laughed softly. "Thanks for all the practice rides. I'll visit when I can. You know Mom's not going to let me forget about you."
Just as she straightened up, Grace appeared at the doorway, wiping her hands on a towel. "Saying goodbye to Rhyhorn like you're going on some grand adventure?" she teased, leaning against the doorframe.
Serena glanced back at her mother, shrugging. "Not exactly. Just felt like saying something before I left."
Grace chuckled. "Well, don't take too long. And remember, Rhyhorn racing practice will still be here when you get back."
Serena gave a small nod, as she turned back to Rhyhorn. She gave it one last pat. "See you later, big guy."
With that, she adjusted her hat and slung her bag higher on her shoulder, jogging down the path leading to the road. Her mother watched her go with a faint smile.
"Take care, Serena!" Grace called out.
Serena waved over her shoulder but didn't look back. Her thoughts were already on the journey ahead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The late morning sun bathed the forest path in a warm glow as Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie strolled along. Pikachu sat perched on Ash's shoulder, enjoying the gentle breeze and Froakie walked with them climbing from branch to branch.
"This walk is so boring," Bonnie complained, skipping ahead a few steps. "We've been walking forever!"
Clemont sighed. "Bonnie, it's only been twenty minutes."
Ahead of them, hidden among the branches of a tall tree, Dedenne nibbled on a plump berry. Its orange fur blended with the sunlight filtering through the leaves. Lost in its meal, it didn't notice when its grip slipped, sending both it and the berry tumbling to the ground.
The berry landed with a plop right on Pikachu's head. "Pika?" Pikachu shook its head, looking startled.
Dedenne hit the ground a moment later, rolling onto its feet. Its cheeks sparked faintly as it hurried over to retrieve its berry, but as it reached for it, it froze. Pikachu's sharp gaze was fixed on it, and sparks of electricity flickered from Pikachu's cheeks.
Ash noticed Pikachu's stance. "Hey, buddy, it's okay," he said calmly, though he already had an idea of what was going on.
The rest of the group finally noticed the small Pokémon. Bonnie's eyes widened. "Aww, look at it! It's adorable!"
"Dedenne," Clemont said, adjusting his glasses. "It's an Electric- and Fairy-type Pokémon. What a great combination right."
Bonnie clapped her hands excitedly. "Clemont, I want it! It's perfect for me!"
"Bonnie, you can't just—" Clemont started, but his words were drowned out by the crackling of electricity between Pikachu and Dedenne.
Dedenne, still clutching its berry, seemed to interpret Pikachu's sparks as a challenge. Its cheeks lit up, releasing its own electrical charge.
The two Pokémon stared each other down, their sparks intensifying.
"Uh, guys?" Bonnie whispered nervously. "Are they going to fight?"
Clemont frowned. "It looks like they're communicating through their electricity. Electric Pokémon sometimes do that to gauge each other's intentions."
Pikachu's sparks dimmed first, signaling it didn't see Dedenne as a threat. Dedenne hesitated for a moment before lowering its own charge and quickly returning to its berry, nibbling on it while keeping an eye on the group.
Ash smiled. "See? No problem."
Bonnie crouched low, inching toward Dedenne. "It's so cute! Clemont, can I keep it? Please?!"
Clemont sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Bonnie, we don't even know if it wants to join us. You can't just force a wild Pokémon to—"
"But it's perfect for me!" Bonnie insisted, her eyes shining with determination.
The serene moment ended as soon as Dedenne reached for the berry and was about to start nibbling it again. As the group admired the tiny Electric-type, a blur of red and gray swooped down from the trees.
"What was that?!" Bonnie exclaimed, pointing upward.
Ash's eyes narrowed as he recognized the culprit—a Fletchling, clutching Dedenne's berry in its beak. The small bird Pokémon chirped mockingly before taking to the sky, the stolen fruit swinging precariously from its mouth.
"Fletchling," Clemont observed, adjusting his glasses. "It's a Normal- and Flying-type. Looks like it decided to swipe that berry for itself."
Dedenne squeaked in distress, sparks crackling from its cheeks as it looked helplessly at its lost treat.
"Not on my watch," Ash said firmly, stepping forward. "Froakie, use Bubble Beam!"
Froakie, who had been perched silently on a nearby branch observing the situation, leapt into action. It opened its mouth, releasing a barrage of shimmering bubbles.
The attack caught Fletchling completely off guard. The bird squawked as the bubbles collided with its side, forcing it to drop the berry.
"Pikachu, catch it!" Ash called out.
Pikachu darted forward with lightning-fast reflexes, leaping into the air and catching the berry before it hit the ground. It landed gracefully and presented the fruit to Dedenne, who blinked in surprise before accepting it with a soft chirp of gratitude.
But Ash's focus was still on the Fletchling. "Froakie, follow it up with Water Pulse!"
Froakie formed a sphere of water between its hands and hurled it at the retreating Fletchling. The attack hit squarely, sending Fletchling tumbling into a tree trunk.
The bird flapped its wings frantically, trying to regain its balance.
"Don't give it a chance to recover!" Ash shouted. "Froakie, another Water Pulse!"
Froakie obeyed instantly, launching another sphere of water. The attack hit its target head-on, knocking Fletchling out of the air and sending it spiraling toward Ash.
As Fletchling hit the ground and tried to wobble back to its feet, Ash saw his opportunity. "Poké Ball, go!"
He hurled a Poké Ball with precision. The ball struck Fletchling, opening with a burst of red light and drawing the Pokémon inside. It fell to the ground, rocking back and forth.
One shake.
Two shakes.
Three shakes.
Click!
The Poké Ball stilled, signaling a successful capture.
"Yes!" Ash cheered, pumping his fist. Pikachu leapt onto his shoulder with a triumphant "Pika!" while Froakie crossed its arms, looking smugly satisfied with its work.
Clemont clapped his hands together. "That was an incredible strategy, Ash. You didn't let Fletchling catch its breath for even a second!"
Ash looked at Clemont as she replied " Well you could tell if I did not do that it would very difficult to catch it or get the berry back and I guess Bonnie we would have been very concerned for sure."
Froakie also nodded as though it was telling it would not like anyone to be sad.
Bonnie and Dedenne's eyes turned watery at that as they pounced on froakie telling thank you to it.
Froakie hid behind Ash its cheeks had turned red as it nudged Ash to move forward and pick the Pokeball
Ash walked over to pick up the Poké Ball, holding it in his hand for a moment. " Anyways ,thanks, Froakie. You were awesome out there."
"Froakie," the Water-type croaked softly, giving a small nod.
Turning to Dedenne, Ash crouched down and gave it a gentle smile. "Your berry's safe now. Pikachu made sure of that."
Dedenne squeaked happily, its tiny cheeks sparking lightly as it nibbled on the berry once more.
As the group regrouped, Clemont adjusted his glasses. "So, what's next? Heading to Santalune City?"
Ash looked at his new Poké Ball, a smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, but first, let's make sure everyone's ready for what's ahead."
Ash decided to take a moment to properly welcome his newest team member.
"Alright, Fletchling, come on out!" Ash said, tossing the Poké Ball into the air.
In a flash of light, the small red-and-gray bird appeared, fluttering its wings and perching on a nearby branch. It looked at Ash curiously, its head tilting as if trying to understand the human's intentions.
Ash smiled warmly and held out an Oran Berry. "Here, this is for you. You earned it after that battle."
Fletchling chirped cautiously, glancing between Ash and the berry. After a moment of hesitation, it swooped down and landed on Ash's arm, gently pecking at the berry.
"See? You don't have to steal," Ash said, a playful lilt in his voice.
Bonnie, hands on her hips, looked up at Fletchling sternly. "That's right! You better ask permission next time instead of just stealing from others!"
Fletchling let out a sheepish chirp, as though apologizing, which made everyone laugh.
Meanwhile, Clemont crouched down near Dedenne, who had finished its berry and was now sitting on the ground, cleaning its whiskers.
"Dedenne, do you want to join us on our journey?" Clemont asked softly.
Ash knelt beside Clemont, adding with a grin, "If you do, you won't ever have to worry about your meals again. I promise we'll take good care of you."
Dedenne looked up, its round eyes wide with curiosity. Its tiny nose twitched as it glanced between Clemont, Ash, and Bonnie.
Bonnie leaned closer, clasping her hands together. "Please, Dedenne? I'll take such good care of you! I'll even keep your fur clean!"
Dedenne blinked, its whiskers twitching. With a squeak of approval, it hopped onto Clemont's shoulder, rubbing its cheek against his affectionately.
Bonnie squealed in delight. "Yay! Dedenne's coming with us!"
Ash stood up, his smile broad. "Welcome to the team, Dedenne."
Bonnie turned her attention to the rest of Ash's Pokémon. "And you three," she said, pointing to Pikachu, Froakie, and Fletchling, "you're all dirty from the battle! Can I dust you off, Ash?"
Ash laughed and gave a big thumbs up. "Go ahead, Bonnie. They'll love it."
Pikachu, Froakie, and Fletchling exchanged glances before nodding in agreement, small smiles appearing on their faces.
Bonnie eagerly got to work, pulling out a small cloth from Clemont's bag and gently dusting off Pikachu's fur first. "You're already so cute, Pikachu, but now you'll be extra shiny!"
"Pika-pi!" Pikachu squeaked happily, enjoying the attention.
Froakie sat stoically as Bonnie cleaned its smooth skin, though it croaked softly in contentment.
When it was Fletchling's turn, the little bird flapped its wings in excitement, chirping appreciatively as Bonnie smoothed its feathers.
"There! All done!" Bonnie declared, stepping back to admire her handiwork.
"Thanks, Bonnie," Ash said, patting her on the head. "You're really good at this."
Bonnie beamed. "Of course! It's my job to keep everyone in tip-top shape!"
As the group prepared to continue their journey, Ash glanced back at his team—Pikachu on his shoulder, Froakie standing tall beside him, Fletchling fluttering nearby, and Dedenne perched happily on Clemont's shoulder.
"Alright, everyone," Ash said, his voice brimming with determination. "Let's get to Santalune City!"
The group cheered, their spirits high as they moved forward together, the bonds between them growing stronger with every step.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serena walked into the spacious, vibrant lab, filled with various Pokémon-related equipment and items. The scent of fresh paper and plant life filled the air, and assistants moved quietly in the background. She could barely contain her excitement as she looked around. Today, she would get her very first Pokémon.
Approaching the desk, she greeted the kind attendant. "Excuse me, is Professor Sycamore available?"
The attendant smiled and nodded. "Of course, I'll let him know you're here."
Moments later, Professor Sycamore entered from a side room. Tall and wearing his signature white lab coat, the professor greeted Serena with a warm smile.
"Ah, hello!" Professor Sycamore said, extending his hand. "How may I help you?"
Serena stepped forward, shaking his hand. "Hi, Professor! I'm Serena! I'm here to get my very first Pokémon!"
Professor Sycamore blinked in surprise, but quickly recovered. "Oh! Welcome, Serena. I'm glad you could make it. I am very happy to help. I assume you've have already decided which one it is going to be"
Serena nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! And I am really excited to meet the Pokemon!"
The professor smiled warmly. "Let me call Sofia to bring the Pokémons out for you."
Sofia entered soon after, bringing three Poké Balls. She placed them on the table in front of Serena. "Here they are," Sycamore said, gesturing to the balls. "These are the three starters we offer here in the Kalos region."
Professor Sycamore picked up the first Poké Ball, releasing its contents. "This is Chespin, a Grass-type. Chespin is tough, brave, and always ready to help out. He's a great companion for any Trainer."
Chespin appeared in a flash of light, bouncing happily around the room, its leaves rustling with energy. It gave Serena an enthusiastic look, as if waiting for her to choose it.
Serena smiled at the Pokémon, but her attention was quickly caught by the second Poké Ball. Professor Sycamore released it, and a small, fox-like Pokémon emerged. "This is Fennekin, a Fire-type. Fennekin is known for her sweet and calm demeanor, though she can be fiery when protecting those she cares about."
Fennekin looked up at Serena, and as soon as their eyes met, Fennekin gave her a warm, inviting smile. Serena's heart skipped a beat. The little Fire-type had such a gentle presence.
Serena turned to the third Poké Ball, curiosity growing. Professor Sycamore released the last one. "This is Froakie, a Water-type. Froakie is quick and mischievous, but has a strong sense of loyalty. He's always ready to lend a hand."
Froakie appeared with a playful leap, its body light blue and its tongue hanging out in an amusing way. It gave a small croak and hopped around energetically.
Serena observed all three of them, but she had already thought of which pokemon she would choose, but she still hesitated abit.
Professor Sycamore saw the hesitation and smiled. "I understand. It's a big choice. But it looks like Fennekin is the one calling to you, looking at how you have been staring at her I guess she is the one you had thought of before."
Serena nodded, smiling warmly at Fennekin. "Yes, it is. I choose Fennekin!"
"Excellent choice!" Sycamore exclaimed. He handed her the Poké Ball containing Fennekin, and Serena gently held it in her hand. The small Pokémon walked up to her and nuzzled her hand affectionately. Serena giggled and picked her up carefully. "You're going to be amazing," Serena whispered.
Professor Sycamore smiled. "I can see the bond already. Fennekin has a good heart. You two will make a great team."
Serena's eyes sparkled with excitement as she cradled Fennekin in her arms.
Sycamore then handed Serena a Pokédex. "This is a Pokédex. It will help you on your journey by recording information about the Pokémon you encounter."
"Thank you so much, Professor!" Serena said, her voice filled with gratitude. She looked down at Fennekin and then back up at Sycamore. "I'm ready to start my journey!"
Just then, Serena hesitated for a moment and looked up at Sycamore. "Professor… I saw the news the other day the boy who appeared on TV and who saved Garchomp. Do you know where he is?"
Professor Sycamore's expression softened as he nodded. "Ah, you mean Ash. He and his friends headed off toward Santalune City to challenge the Gym there. They left just a little while ago."
Serena's heart fluttered at the mention of the name. "Santalune City…" she murmured.Hmm,I guess that will be my next destination,I just hope Ash remembers me.
"Good luck, Serena," Sycamore said with a proud smile. "And remember, you'll always have support here at the lab."
With Fennekin by her side and the Pokédex in hand, Serena left Professor Sycamore's lab, a bright future ahead of her. She was determined to take the first step toward becoming the Pokémon Trainer she always dreamed of being.
As Serena left, Professor Sycamore watched her with a fond smile, knowing that she was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
