Kaiser of the New World

New skills (220)

A few minutes later and the process was done.

Kai couldn't help but feel that the system really was stingy with their skill selections. Even now, after he had sort of cemented himself as a mixture of a swordsman, mage and transformation...er? They still decided to offer him skills that had no use for him.

A skill that boosted damage and boosted eyesight when wielding a bow?

Useless.

A skill that allowed him to innately tell a herb or plants properties?

Kind of cool, but useless.

A skill that let him offer his soul to some undead God in exchange for an insane one time power up.

Ominous... but useless.

Still, Kai had ended up coming out of the whole thing with three pretty incredible skills.

So he decided to glance over them one more time.

This skill was one of the ones that wasn't influenced by The Ever-changing, as for how Kai knew that?

As far as he knew, his Master had no idea about the whole Statshifting thing, Kai had only learned they could do it after their latest meeting after all.

Still, the system seemed to like the Class and the opportunities it opened up, so it offered Kai an incredibly useful skill.

Presets (Rare)

The name may not have looked like much, and Kai had thought that as well, but after looking at the description his mind instantly changed.

Allows the user to switch their stats on the go to a pre created preset. Despite the rarity, this skill has the potential to become a Unique Skill. There is a 5 minute cooldown between switching each Preset. Presets can be deleted. The user can name their Presets.

0/3 Presets created.

Oh how beautiful this skill was. In Kai's eyes, this was probably the most useful of the lot.

The main drawback of using Ezekial's stored soul was that all of Kai's stats had to be equal to use it, but what were the chances of that happening in the future? He would obviously have to Statshift Strength in a fight, or Mana, or so on and so forth.

But with this skill, Kai could switch to a Preset where all of his stats were perfectly equal, and if he needed to he could just switch back to normal, it really was incredible.

Plus, it had the potential to become a Unique Skill. Kai wasn't really sure how hard it would be to achieve that, but he was sure that it couldn't take that long... right?

Even if it did, he had some time for himself. Since he had reached level 53, he probably had much more longevity than the average human back on Earth. If he had to guess, Kai would say that he would be able to live for at least a few hundred years dying of old age.

... Of course, there was the chance that some primordial snow horror killed him before he got the chance to reach 19, but that was a thought he was fine with letting go.

The last two skills Kai had selected had both been tampered with by The Ever-changing, and both of them were pretty useful. The first one was a little more tame, but possibly more useful than the second one.

Significant Soul Mana Affinity (Epic)

Increases the user's affinity with Soul based Mana.

Kai had giggled slightly when receiving this skill, making Cecilia look at him strangely, but he didn't care.

A lot of the skills in his arsenal relied on his soul, in fact, his Mana in general was already in tune with his soul, meaning he would get an even bigger boost than the average person who picked this skill.

Soul Sense would get upgraded.

Ignition would get upgraded.

Soul Flame would get upgraded.

Soul Link would get upgraded.

Soulcery would get upgraded.

The most important part would be the upgrade to Soulcery though, because with this skill combined with his new Internal Mana upgrade, the speed at which he could repair his soul would increase tremendously.

So overall, it was another great skill, good on The Ever-changing for offering it to him, it was only them that knew about his soul affinity after all.

Well, Cecilia knew a little about it now, but she was still mainly in the dark about... everything.

Eh, Kai would probably tell her about it at some point, they had another... five months together.

Kai sighed before glancing over his final skill once more.

And it was a juicy one.

Mana Surge (Epic)

Allows the user to infuse their body with Mana, boosting any aspect of their body they wish. However, infusing your body for too long could cause unforseen side effects.

It was another boosting skill.

Okay, okay, he knew all to well that having too many boosts active at any given time would fuck him over for a while, but they were just too good!

Like, what was a little pain if it meant tremendous power?

In her sleep, Umbra trembled a little, as if sensing her master's masochistic thoughts.

But back to the skill though, in all honesty the backlash of this one was basically negligible.

There was no internal cooldown, and the backlash only happened if Kai had the skill active for too long, so that was all Kai needed to see for it to be the best option.

For example, if Kai were in a sword fight, he could infuse his right arm with Mana, boosting his attacks strength.

Or if he's about to get punched, infuse whatever part he's about to get hit in with Mana and it would lessen some of the damage.

Unlike Ignition, which had an internal cooldown based on how long he had the skill active, this new skill was like a tamer version of it, giving him sudden boosts of power whenever he would need it.

Of course, he could also just have it on without turning it off, but that would only happen in desparate situations, like fighting some beast that was way, way stronger than Kai.

...

Hopefully that wouldn't happen.

But who knew what they would see on their journey to the tip of the Royal Peak?

Now that he had gone over all of his new skills, Kai cast a glance around the tent once more.

Umbra, Remy and Petunia were all still asleep, meaning Kai must have woken up just as they fell asleep, otherwise how else would they be able to sleep for so long?

Cecilia was enjoying the embrace of the candle he had given her. Even though she wouldn't outwardly say it, or even show it, Kai saw that small smile on her lips, almost as if she was proud of herself.

Kai smiled softly as well.

Deciding to do one last thing before waking the three sleeping beings, Kai went about creating his Presets.

Much to his absolute joy, and shock, it actually required no maths to create a Preset that had all of his stats perfectly equal.

In fact, it was an option that the system offered.

It would perfectly divide all of his stats, even taking his items into account. He didn't have to influence it or nothing, even if he got a new item the Preset would adjust itself to accommodate the new stats and have each of them be perfectly equal.

Kai couldn't have been happier.

He ended up naming this Preset Pitch Perfect.

It was kind of dumb, but he found it funny. Harmony, pitch perfect, they were basically the same thing.

The second Preset he created was just his normal stats. This Preset would also scale with his level ups, so it wouldn't require any extra effort, which was something he was very happy with.

Kai named this Preset Kaiser. He may as well just stick to the nickname since both his Innate Ability and Bloodline contained it, right?

He didn't end up creating his third and final Preset just yet though, he decided to save it for if an idea came to him. You never know when inspiration would come to you after all, most of Kai's great ideas came when he was in the shower.

...

Maybe that's why he hadn't had any in over a year, considering the last time he showered was back in the white room.

But as he was looking at his skills and creating his Presets, Kai realised that he had quite a few unasigned stat points. Seeing no reason to delay the inevitable, he simply split the 814 stat points between his 7 stats. Each stat was increased by 116, except for Strength, which was increased by 118 as 814 did not split evenly.

Now, Kai has gone through everything he had gained.

In all honesty, he had actually gotten a lot stronger despite being under a mind hex and locked in a cell for about 7 months.

His Statshifting had increased by leaps and bounds, he gained 22 levels, got a great new item, got a new Stored Soul, Esurient upgraded themselves and he gained 4 new skills.

Of course, Kai was still yet to test if Soul Flame had actually grown when using it while it was being limited. He had the skill active the whole time during his fight with Ezekial, but he was mainly focusing on the stat part of it, not the actual strength of the flames.

But that was something for after he had repaired his soul.

Kai sighed softly, glancing over to the sleeping trio beside him. If this was back on Earth, he would have thought that he was in a Disney Movie.

... Knock off Snow White.

Knowing what he had to do, and knowing that they had to get moving, Kai went to wake up the three of them so they could continue their journey.

*Author Note*

I've learned. I wasn't going to make this 3 chapters, so all the skills are in one chapter.

Good on me
