Kaiser of the New World

Cecilia (192)

Kai frowned.

He was meant to have gotten all his memories back? He didn't remember anything that had happened over the last six months while under the hex, he only remembered the moments where he himself was in control.

But he was meant to remember?

"No, I didn't get my memories back, I don't remember anything that happened."

Now it was the Third Queen's turn to be surprised.

"That is... strange. You were meant to get all your memories back after you broke free of the hex. I did after all. It would take an incredibly high level of skill to permanently block memories, and Her Majesty may be talented, but she does not possess that amount of skill."

Kai sighed. So his memories had just decided to go on holiday or something instead of returning to him. Why?

Why did everything have to be so confusing? Why couldn't it just be simple like in all the stories be had read in the past.

Kai swore, the day he received an overpowered power up would be the day things changed for him.

... He was also just going to overlook the fact that he had already received multiple overpowered power ups, just that they were all overshadowed by the other things that had happened to him.

"Maybe it's just I wasn't under the hex for long enough or something. How long were you under the hex?"

The Third Queen shifted slightly, as if she was too embarrassed to answer.

"I-I was under the hex for ten thousand, five hundred and forty years."

Kai blinked.

The woman kneeling in front of him, who looked to be late teens, early twenties, was... over ten thousand years old.

The Ever-changing really wasn't lying about people aging differently. Did that mean Kai would look seventeen for hundreds of years if he got out of here?

That... didn't sound so bad.

"That's... rough. I'm sorry."

The Third Queen smiled weakly.

"There is no need for you to apologise, Sir. There is nothing you could have done, you were not even born yet."

Kai laughed softly, making the Third Queen feel a sense of pride.

A moment later, Kai smiled and realised he couldn't just keep mentally referring to her as 'the Third Queen', that was too long.

"Say, what's your name?"

The Third Queen shifted again, but she didn't hesitate for as long when asked this question.

"Cecilia... But if you wish you can call me Lia, or Celia, or just... servant."

Kai rolled his eyes. While he may be the apprentice of some so called incredible being that he still had no idea where they ranked in the vast scale of things, he wouldn't be calling anyone 'servant' for a long, long time, that was just too cringe.

"Cecilia is fine, I'll just call you that."

Cecilia nodded.

"If that is what you wish... Sir."

Trying to think of something else to ask, Kai remembered something she said a minute ago, and he was kind of curious as to why she meant.

"Did you say that The Shifter... branded you?"

Cecilia slowly nodded before softly grasping the collar of her dress. She pulled it down ever so slightly, showing the area between her breasts and neck. A moment later, a strange marking flickered into existence.

To be honest, Kai wasn't sure how to describe it, the making resembled something, but it also resembled nothing. It was like there was some sort of magic to it, Kai would think he would see something, but the image in his mind would change a second later.

"This is the branding, it hurt when it was placed on me, but it will disappear once my mission is completed."

Kai nodded. So they just had to get out of here, he could go about his merry business and Cecilia would be free.

Sounds easy.

The conversation kind of died after that. It wasn't that Kai didn't like the girl, it was just that he wasn't exactly sure what to say.

Cecilia obviously saw herself as below him, which Kai didn't really care about, but she also was incredibly nervous and reserved because she had technically failed her mission.

Well, she hadn't failed yet, there was still another six months to escape, but the two of them had to figure out a way for Kai to get out of the collar first.

But Kai was working on that problem himself, he had something else that he wanted Cecilia to work on.

"Do you happen to know is there any way that we can leave here? Once I get out of this collar is there, like, a teleporter or portal we can to to another Dimension through."

Cecilia nodded, her nerves calming a little as Kai continued to talk to her.

"There is a strange device inside His and Her Majesty's chambers. It is like a glass cylinder with some strange energy inside it.

While I was under the hex, I saw both of them use it sometimes. That is the only way one of the only ways in and out of this Subdimension."

Kai perked up slightly, hearing that it was 'one' of the ways out.

"One, what about the other way?"

Cecilia shook her head softly.

"It is impossible to reach. It is in the depths of the blizzard."

Silently cursing, Kai resigned himself to the fact that their only way out was in the bedroom of the two people that would most definitely attempt to stop him from escaping.

He also wasn't that big on the idea of going into their bedroom in general as he was sure that he didn't want to see some of the things that could be in there.

"Well, that's the escape plan, but we need one more person before we can leave."

Cecilia tilted her head curiously.

"One more person?"

Kai nodded.

"Petunia, a young girl, blond hair, kind of short, she was summoned here with me."

Cecilia's eyes widened slightly, her understanding who Kai was on about.

"Oh, her. I've only ever seen her once. I haven't seen her in months, but I know where she is being held."

Kai smiled, the idea of getting out of here seeming a lot more plausible.

"And where would that be."

Cecilia shifted, making Kai think that the answer she was about to say wasn't one that he wanted to hear.

"In the... opposite side of the castle to His and Her Majesty's chambers."

Kai sighed. That definitely put a spanner in the works, making the whole situation a lot more troublesome.

Still, Kai would at least attempt to get her out, he owed that to John at least.

"We'll figure something out, there's no rush yet, we've still got some time to plan things out."

Cecilia shifted her head curiously.

"No rush? What do you mean? Do you not want to get out of here?"

Realising that she had no idea about his thirty sleep plan, Kai began to explain.

"Right, you wouldn't know. I've given myself thirty sleeps to train and plan my escape. Then, on sleep thirty, I'm going to get out of this collar."

Cecilia's eyes widened slightly, a look of shock on her face.

"You know a way to get out of the collar?"

Now it was Kai's turn to shift uncomfortable. He had an idea to get out, but...

"I think I know a way out, but I'm very hesitant to attempt it. If it goes wrong or just doesn't work, I will die, no doubt about it. If it fails, I die. That's why I'm giving myself the thirty sleeps, to train and to also try and find another way out."

Cecilia remained silent before nodding solemnly.

"I see... I will also try my best to find a method for you to escape. Even if I can't, I promise to find a safer method of your own plan."

Kai smiled softly.

"That's all I can ask of you."

He then paused and added on:

"Well, that, and I hope you can talk to me every time you deliver that stir-fry. Even though I do like doing my training, and I don't really mind the peace and quiet, it can get really boring. I learned that after my time in the white room."

Cecilia smiled softly.

"Of course, Sir. Although I don't know if I would be that good of a conversation partner, considering I haven't had any actual life experiences since... before..."

Kai sighed. He thought that being enchanted for six months was bad, but he really didn't want to think about what it would be like to be enchanted for over ten thousand years. That would most definitely suck, especially since Kai couldn't even imagine living for that long in general.

"It's fine, I'd like to hear about what you did before you had to get married to that prick."

Cecilia looked at Kai blankly.

"That... 'Prick?'"

It was then that Kai realised that maybe the insults he was used to back on Earth might not be as common in other Subdimensions.

Hehe.

That opened up a lot of doors for him. He would be able to call people he didn't like a variety of things and he could just say that he was complimenting him. How fun that would be.

Although bitch was off that table, he called Anastasia that multiple times and she obviously didn't like it.

"It's an insult, it basically just means that Castillian is an asshole."

Cecilia's eyes widened slightly, but then Kai was caught off guard when she started laughing.

She lifted a hand up to her mouth when she laughed, making Kai smile softly.

To be honest, she was really cute when she laughed-

Kai got some flashbacks to Anastasia, when he thought the same thing about her when he first saw her laughing. Only unlike that time, Cecilia wasn't able to put him under a hex.

She was just like him, someone who had gotten fucked over by the King and Queen of this Subdimension.

Someone who had gotten fucked over and also happened to look really pretty when she laughed.

"Yes..." Cecilia giggled softly. "He really is a prick."

Kai smiled gently.

"Yes, yes he is."
