Megumi thought that getting Hakari as an ally would be a complicated task, considering the third-year student was known as a complete delinquent.
When he found out that Hakari was managing an underground gambling house where fights between sorcerers took place, he felt that finding him would be difficult, but...
The sight before him was far from anything he could have expected.
!
With Todo's forehead colliding with Hakari's, the two sorcerers smiled as they began a test of strength.
"Hakari Kinji!" Todo spoke as he struggled to hold his ground. "Still into the same type of women?!"
"For sure!" Hakari replied through gritted teeth, fighting to push the sorcerer back. "And you?! Still into that idol?!"
"Obviously!"
"Great!"
"..."
From afar, Megumi, Nobara, and Kirara watched the interaction in silence, with Nobara being the most expressive, staring at the two men with a disappointed look.
'Idiots...' She thought, sighing.
"Considering what Panda told us, about you not liking Jujutsu High, I thought there'd be a bit more resistance since we came on behalf of the school." Megumi spoke to Kirara beside him, the girl only shrugging.
"Todo never lied to us, plus, he's the worst opponent for my technique." Kirara said as she smiled at Hakari's animated face. "We saw no reason not to hear your reasons for coming...
And it really wasn't anything we could've expected."
"That's why we need you; the more help, the better." Megumi turned to the two sorcerers locked in a contest. "So it'd be great if you could call that guy over so we can talk."
"Kin-chan's on fire right now; I don't think I can stop him." Kirara said with a loving smile, her eyes fixed on Hakari. "And I love it when he's like this."
"Damn it!" Nobara snapped, and pulling out her hammer, she prepared to run towards the two sorcerers. "I'm going to hit them both on the head!"
"No." But Megumi stopped her with a tired sigh. "Just let them finish this."
"Hakari!!!"
"Todo!!!"
"...Idiots."
.
"They're stable, you don't need to worry."
In the recently renovated infirmary, after a certain someone flooded everything, Shoko moved to sit in a chair while lighting a cigarette, her eyes landing on the pink-haired boy sitting near Maki and Mai's beds.
"That's great." Itadori nodded in satisfaction. "Thank you for that, Miss Shoko."
"No need to thank me, it's just my job." Shoko blew out some smoke as she replied. "But I'm curious. The changes in these two are quite noticeable, what did you do?"
Itadori remained silent, his eyes fixed on the peaceful faces of the two sleeping girls for a moment before turning back to Shoko.
"Monozygotic twins are considered the same being; their souls are intimately connected."
"That's correct."
Shoko seemed surprised for a moment. Even though the birth of twins was seen as a bad omen due to the bond between them being a common idea in the Jujutsu world, it was still quite surprising for someone like Itadori, who had been a sorcerer for such a short time, to know that.
She remembered Gojo saying that Itadori was someone who worked hard and often asked him for books on Jujutsu society, but Shoko didn't think the boy had delved so deep.
"This connection directly affects Jujutsu." And declaring this with certainty, Itadori crossed his arms as he turned again to the two girls. "Maki should have been born without a single trace of cursed energy, someone free from the shackles of the Jujutsu world."
Shoko's eyes widened at that information, and turning to Maki, she noticed how she couldn't sense any cursed energy from her body.
"Meanwhile Mai, she should have been born with high reserves of cursed energy, as you may have noticed now."
Shoko nodded to all of that, turning to Itadori for explanations.
"To achieve this result, I simply separated their interconnected souls..." And as if it were a simple task, he declared, which made Shoko blink slowly. "It wasn't difficult, really. I think the psychological factor of not knowing the outcome was what made the process harder."
Itadori nodded to himself, a smug smile on his lips. "Mahito's technique isn't that hard to use."
"Right…" Shoko sighed. Itadori had some traits remarkably similar to Gojo, and she didn't see that as a good thing…
"By the way, since I have time, I'd like to ask you something." Itadori turned to Shoko, a determined glint in his eyes.
Shoko raised an eyebrow at that, blowing out a bit of smoke, and gestured for him to continue.
"Because of my miracles and the first time Sukuna took over my body, I remember the sensation of reverse cursed energy, but every time I try to replicate it, I feel like there's a barrier blocking me." He began, cursed energy accumulating in his hand as he lifted it. "I'm not asking for an explanation, but I'd like to hear your experiences; I want to know how it feels for you when you use the technique."
Shoko stared at him for a few seconds, simply blowing the smoke she was inhaling from her cigarette.
The boy was, indeed, more intelligent than his appearance might suggest. Not only was his talent immense, but his skill seemed to be a step above.
His ability to control cursed energy surpassed that of a first-grade sorcerer, considerably outclassing his peers. His reserves seemed to be growing at a rapid pace, which was something impossible for most sorcerers, and on top of that, he appeared to be on the verge of unlocking reverse cursed energy.
Was she truly witnessing the rise of another Satoru Gojo?
It seemed almost… Unthinkable.
But it was right before her eyes.
Not only did this boy have as much potential as Satoru Gojo, but he also had the attitude, given that he had been the one to initiate a direct attack on the higher-ups.
Something even Satoru had avoided, preferring to follow their orders and clean up their messes.
"Alright." Shoko nodded, which brought a satisfied smile to Yuji's face.
If this boy had the potential to become a second Satoru Gojo, the least she could do was help him... No, as an adult and a sorcerer, she had to make him better.
She had neglected her duties as a sorcerer for too long, and with Gojo's sealing, she could see that more clearly.
In the end, she was still a mentor to the new generation.
She could at least do that job right this time.
