Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao

Chapter 42: One Sword

"Sister Mo Chou, how impressive," a few little girls were stunned by that sword strike, looking at Mo Chou with disbelief. They became excited and hugged Mo Chou, showering her with praises.

"It wasn't me!" Mo Chou was very aware that her sword did not possess such power. She understood her own strength well; it was just an ordinary sword wielded to conquer the fear in her heart.

Just then, a gentle voice came from the sky, "Little Mo Chou, are you alright? Where is Yan Dan?"

Hearing this familiar voice, Mo Chou looked up to see the scholar in a green robe riding the clouds, and she exclaimed with joy, "Mr. Lu, you have come! The elders are all at the Demon-suppressing Tower on the mountaintop."

"Oh, I see, I will head there right away," Lu Yu said before he was about to take to the skies, but he inadvertently noticed the scattering demons roaming Mount Shu and frowned.

If he ignored these little demons, the young disciples of Mount Shu might suffer heavy casualties. After all, as a friend of Yan Dan, he could not just watch his juniors die in front of him. Explore hidden tales at empire

With a flicker of his mind, a dark cloud instantly enveloped Mount Shu, darkening the sky. Both demons and Mount Shu disciples stared at the sky in astonishment.

Mount Shu had its Mountain Protection Array; it had never seen clouds looming so ominously.

The fierce wind began to howl, whistling across the mountaintop.

Soon, raindrops fell from the sky. At first, they were sparse, but in less than a moment, it turned into a torrential downpour.

Both the demons and Mount Shu disciples were stunned by this scene, as such heavy rain was unprecedented on Mount Shu.

Before long, they noticed the peculiar nature of the rain. It healed the wounds of the Mount Shu disciples and restored their mana.

For the demons, however, the rain was like sulfuric acid falling from the sky, corroding their flesh and depleting their mana.

The instant the heavy rain started, the demons' screams of agony also rose, as the rainwater carried properties that could vanquish evil, specifically targeting those engulfed by the resentment of the Human Path.

A streak of sword light flashed across the sky, cutting through it like a bolt of lightning under the dark clouds.

The sword light landed, instantly transforming into thousands of swords, following the trail of the rain, slaughtering those deeply sinful demons.

The chilling sword light, reflected in the stunned eyes of the Mount Shu disciples. Mount Shu is hailed as the supreme Sword Sect, always believing that their Sword Dao is unparalleled and that all Sword Immortals come from Mount Shu.

Yet, Lu Yu's sword light was markedly different from the Mount Shu Sword Technique; it lacked a certain decisiveness but added a greater depth.

The heavy rain washed away the fresh blood left by the demons. The Mount Shu disciples then realized that their life-and-death crisis had just passed.

However, looking at their severely damaged Sect, now in shambles, they couldn't help but let the tears flow. This was their Sect and their home, which had now been left in such a state, with many of their familiar fellow disciples having lost their lives to the demons.

"Wow, Mo Chou, when did you get to know such an esteemed senior? He is truly amazing."

"Indeed, indeed. With a flash of the sword light, a group of demons was decapitated. It was truly incredible."

A few junior female disciples surrounded Mo Chou, chattering and inquiring about Lu Yu, deeply impressed by the scene they had just witnessed.

With a casual and unassuming air, he had resolved what they perceived as a life-threatening crisis. Though they often saw Mount Shu's esteemed fighters in action, none had ever struck them quite like Lu Yu had.

"Mr. Lu is a good friend of Uncle-Master Yan Dan. I met him just a while ago when I and the eldest disciple went to the Southern Borderlands," Mo Chou explained.

"A good friend of Uncle-Master Yan Dan. Maybe he's also a Primordial Spirit expert, just like him," guessed one of the young girls.

However, Mo Chou remembered how Lu Yu had slain the Curse Master, feeling that Mr. Lu was far more powerful than any Primordial Spirit expert.

"Uncle-Master says that Mr. Lu's practice of Technique is different from ours; he is a true Land Immortal," Mo Chou stated, unsure how else to categorize Lu Yu's level of cultivation. She only repeated what Yan Dan had once told her, yet even this tidbit dazzled the young girls.

Lu Yu, however, was not concerned with the junior girls' gossip. The astonishing Sword Qi and Demon Aura at the summit of Mount Shu were indicators that the battle had reached an intense climax. A bad premonition suddenly crossed his mind, recalling his casual chats with Yan Dan; he sincerely hoped he would not have to send his good friend into reincarnation.

At that moment, atop Mount Shu, all the combatants, startled by the preceding Sword Qi, found the once fierce battle eerily quiet.

"Who is this venerable presence at our Mount Shu?" inquired an old man with a white beard, furrowing his brow.

"Judging by the sword technique, which is majestic and full of Dao, it's unlikely to be from a nefarious character. Perhaps it's a fellow cultivator who, seeing Mount Shu in trouble, lent a hand," another speculated.

The elders of Mount Shu each guessed the identity of the newcomer; the sword technique they had just witnessed was stunningly beautiful, unlike anything even these experienced elders had ever seen.

"This sword technique is not of the mundane world; I've never heard of such a Sword Immortal in our midst," one elder commented.

Only Yan Dan, upon seeing the flash of the sword light, thought immediately of Lu Yu. He quickly checked his Jade Talisman, which had been activated for some time, and knew the answer in his heart.

"Stop guessing, my brothers. It's probably my good friend," Yan Dan said weakly, a faint smile appearing on his pale face, showing how pleased he was at the arrival of Lu Yu.

"Oh! Could it be that Scholar named Lu Yu you've mentioned?" inquired an elder, recalling the previous discussion.

Yan Dan had already informed the Mount Shu's elders about Lu Yu's impending visit. His aim was not multifaceted; he merely hoped the elders would speak highly of him and avoid mentioning his less glorious past, so he wouldn't lose face in front of his friend. Additionally, he hoped that Mount Shu would grant Lu Yu access to its restricted areas for a tour.

Unexpectedly, even before Lu Yu's arrival, a disturbance had occurred at the Demon-suppressing Tower. A disciple, seduced by the Demon King, had secretly stolen a Sect decree and released a demon confined therein, bringing a great disaster upon Mount Shu.

"Exactly, my friend is a high-level cultivator of the Celestial Immortal Dao. If he were here, these demons wouldn't stand a chance against him," Yan Dan said confidently.

He knew well his friend's capabilities; even great figures like the Primordial Heavenly Venerable and Emperor of Fengdu held Lu Yu in high regard, a testament to his strength.

"You old fossils still have the breath to talk? Come and meet your end!"
