To level up in the Danmachi world, adventurers must have enough Excelia to reach D rank in one of the statistics in their basic abilities, then they need "high-quality" Excelia, which means they must have a very significant and impressive achievement.

Getting Excelia isn't exactly the same as getting EXP like in other RPG-genre games and worlds, and so on. Basically, adventurers need something related to their statistics to increase them. For example, getting hit will increase Endurance, running will increase Agility, using magic will increase Magic Power, and so on.

"When I was still at Level 2, I survived an assassination attempt by a Level 6 woman and defeated the Green Dragon that had Level 4 strength. Just one achievement alone was enough for an adventurer to level up."

Charlie felt that those two events were the most likely to be recognized as major achievements.

The Mystery Development Ability allowed the user to activate miracles and create magic items. This was so rare that not even five people in Orario possessed it.

Charlie chose Mystery as his second Development Ability without hesitation.

Charlie immediately felt the change in Essence/Mana after leveling up to Level 3. He was surprised that Aishia already knew about this before he could check it himself.
