Jojo's : A Bizarre Journey

Chapter 31: #31 - Know Thyself

A/N: Chapter 30 is fixed now.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the usual spot where we train Hamon, Jack is trying to get his stand to do things.

He's making a gun motion with his fingers and pointing to the usual tree.

With concentration and determination in his eyes, he exclaims.

"Sever"

...

The tree doesn't fall.

Matter of fact, nothing happens.

"...Hahhhhh". Jack sighs for the umpteenth time now.

"Nothing is going to happen if you just say cool names and hope for the best". I encourage him.

"Shut up, it will".

"No, it won't"

"I'm sorry, how many stands do you have?"

"If you want to prove me wrong just keep doing what you are doing."

"That I will"

And he goes on.

This is boring because for the last 10 minutes he has just stood there in the shadow, pointing at the tree and saying variations of ¨Cut¨

Cut, sever, chop, slice, saw, slash...

I don't think he knows more synonyms of cut.

"Shatter!"

He doesn't.

The tree is still unmoving.

"Alright, there's something wrong here". He gave up.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah"

"And what could that be?"

"You don't see it, but my stand is acting, his gloves turn black and he snaps his fingers towards the tree"

"And?"

"And...I think you should trace your hamon in the tree, to see if there's an internal change or anything"

"Aren't you just coping at this point?"

"I don't know what that means, but I assure you I'm not."

I stand up from my comfortable spot in the grass, and I close into the tree.

Expecting the tree to be completely fine, I send a small amount of Hamon to check the interior,

"And, how it is?"

"It's actually a bit damaged inside."

"See?! I knew that it was doing something!"

"There's a problem though."

"What?"

"It's not damage of the words you said"

"What does that mean?"

"It means that the tree hasn't been cut, severed, shattered, or any other word you said. It corroded"

"..."

He gestures for me to keep explaining.

"In other words, your stand isn't only ¨Cutting¨ the being, it does a cut and it corrodes the being from inside out"

"Cool"

"Yeah, it's really cool"

Straizo was clutching his throat, so his stand probably sent a cut to his throat and started corroding it from the inside.

"Now, we should probably test your stand limits"

"Yes, but before that, you promised to help me with something"

"What?"

"You just said in the room that you would help me to send laser rays out of my eyes"

"Right, I did say that"

"So?"

"Alright, alright"

"You just have to focus the energy of your body into your eyes, and release it"

"It's that simple?"

"Yeah"

No, it isn't, but complicating the process might put a mental block in him.

Jack's eyes shine briefly, before quickly turning his head to the river and shooting two rays out of his eyes.

They don't look like Dio's.

Dio's looked like a segmented pipe.

While his look is more of a special beam cannon.

It has two rays, one that goes straight and one that spins around the first.

"Oh yeah, it is that simple"

I know that I also do things with extreme easiness, but seeing someone else do it makes me feel weird.

Like, I'm a transmigrator, but you have no right to be this good at something you just tried once.

Anyways, next lesson.

"Yes it is, now lesson two"

"Alright, let's go"

"Now, for the second lesson, you will learn to freeze people"

"Like, slow them down or freeze them completely"

"Freeze them completely"

"Ohhh."

"It's the opposite to Hamon, with Hamon you breathe to channel the solar energy to your blood, with vampirism, you breathe to lose energy in your body, freezing your body."

"I see..."

He doesn't, he's making the face he does when he doesn't understand something.

"When you lose energy in a body part, you can transfer the energy loss by tact and freeze the whole body of the opponent"

"I see".

He doesn't see jackshit.

"I think I get it..."

Hold up, you do?

He takes a deep breath.

... and produces Hamon.

"GAH!"

He falls.

"Are you pretending to be dumb, or just like this naturally?"

"Ughhhhh"

"Shut up, I know."

He's probably in a lot of pain, but what can I do?

Just feed him blood I guess.

My blood.

Since blood banks are yet to be invented.

I cut slightly my forearm.

Once again, in the one arm with a bandage on my hand.

"Open wide, baby boy"

He tries to say something but is muffled by my blood falling in his mouth.

"Fshh ouuu"

"What are you saying? ¨Thank you so much¨?"

That was a fuck you, right?

When I judge that he has had enough blood for him to recover, I move my arm from his mouth and take a deep breath.

Creating Hamon and healing the cut, not immediately, but in a few minutes, it will be completely closed.

He sits up, a bit disoriented.

"What was that?"

"Apparently, you took a breath and instinctively produced Hamon in your body, slightly destroying it from the inside."

"That can happen?"

"I told you about this, to never use Hamon again"

"Yeah, but I thought that it would harm the places where I focus it, not my whole being"

"Whatever, just keep practicing the energy loss"

"Alright, let me try it again"

"Hold up, not now"

"It's now or never!"

"No, it isn't-"

He takes a deep breath.

This time he doesn't create hamon.

His hands take a pale-ish blue color.

The temperature quickly drops to dewpoint, creating water vapor around his hands.

He kneels and places his hand on the earth.

Freezing a portion of the grass in my backyard.

A slight smile appears on his face.

"Hell yeah"

He relaxes, turning his hands into its usual pale color.

"You actually got it in two tries"

"Yeah, but I couldn't get rid of the energy, so I moved it outside the hands"

"And where did you put it?"

"I left it around the eyes, so that I may use a quick laser".

Smart.

I didn't know anything about how Dio freezes things.

Only that he lost energy and transferred the energy loss, but Jack got it by instinct.

Cool, I guess.

"So, is there a third lesson"

"Not currently"

"There will be one?"

"Maybe..."

The only thing that comes to mind is when Dio used his meat cells to hypnotize Kakyoin, but I'm not sure that Jack has enough mastery over his cells to do that.

He also hypnotized a boy in part one, so that he could lure Jonathan and Zepelli to a place without sun, but once again, I don't know how he did that.

"Just try to manipulate your body in small parts, cut off your finger and try to move it from a distance"

"Aye, aye sensei"

[Daily Quest: Knightly] [Completed]

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Huh? Does helping Jack count?

A nice surprise.

I now have in my possession the amazing amount of five tickets.

What can I even do with five tickets?

Well, I guess I could summon some carcass of something cool.

Jack is playing with his stand and his fingers around the tree so it's a perfect moment.

Oh, now that I think about it, I never properly explained how can I summon strong things from other worlds.

Well, you see, I found out a little loop in the rules.

If I wish for something strong, without its capabilities, then it's safe.

As an example, let's say I summon the Yamato, the space-cutting katana.

That's too op.

But, if I summon a sword that is exactly the same as the Yamato, but without all its properties, then it fulfills all of the requirements.

Is it special? Yes, I mean, it's THE Yamato.

Is it from another universe? Yes, so it can't be strong.

Is it strong? No, because a Yamato without all of its supernatural properties is just a well-crafted katana.

I used the same principle to summon the Chaldea uniform.

But what could I summon now?

Most of the good stuff is too expensive, especially now since I only have five of them.

Maybe I could try to figure out some other loophole in the rules.

Like the Aja, the properties of the aja come from the materials and form it made.

If I remove them, then it's not the Aja stone anymore.

What can I lose?

One ticket?

Negligible damage.

I summon one ticket.

"Red Stone of Aja"

I'd need two tier 4 tickets for this.

64 tier one tickets.

"The red stone of Aja, without its properties"

One tier-one ticket.

Let me grab the original Aja for a moment.

I left it on my desk with my diary and the Roka plant.

"Jack..."

He's distracted, so I'll just go quickly to grab it.

...

...

Alright.

I'm sitting in the grass, my front pointing to Jack, who cut a finger and is trying to move it from afar.

In my right hand is the Aja.

I said it before, but it really is a wonder to the touch.

If it wasn't so valuable, then I would have carried it with me everywhere, just to use it as a stress ball.

In my left hand is an item ticket.

"Summon".

And now is an Aja stone.

Immediately, I felt the differences.

The Aja to my left is almost the same as the Aja to my right.

Same structure.

Same material.

I think that it has the same reflection properties too.

But there's a problem.

I feel that it won't work.

If I grab the modified mask and place this Aja inside.

Nothing will happen.

It's like a mirage.

I expected something like this, but it's a bother.

It's not an issue, though, if someone wants to steal the Aja, then I could use this one as a lure or something like that.

Useful at the end.

I hear some steps coming to this place.

Oh, someone is coming.

"Young master"

"Hello, Maria"

It's Maria.

"There's someone here to see you".

"There is?"

"Yes, I'm not sure who, but he claims to be your classmate"

Hmm?

"It isn't Apolonia?"

"No, this person is a boy with black hair"

Ohhhhhh.

"I will be there"

I know who is here.

And I feel this is going to be something important.
