Chapter 117: The Goddess of Birth?
Chapter 117: The Goddess of Birth?
At first, Lin Fengmian and Wen Qinlin wanted to find a way to sneak into the inner sanctum, but before they even entered, someone had already offered to show them in.
Wen Qinlin pretended to be reserved and asked, “Are we disturbing your meditation, Daoist?”
Lu Xun smiled slightly. “Not at all. Helping others is also part of cultivation. Please, ladies!”
The two followed him deeper into the temple. On the way, Lu Xun was enthusiastic, quoting scriptures and describing the scenery inside.
He was handsome and articulate, which would undoubtedly have charmed most women.
However, it was clear that he was not dealing with ordinary women, nor were they women at all.
As they walked, they encountered several Taoists who lit up when they saw them and smiled as they greeted the group.
Having mingled with the Joyful Union Sect for years, Lin Fengmian immediately noticed the lewd glint in the eyes of these Taoists, which made him feel uncomfortable.
But then he remembered that Wen Qinlin, who looked delicate, was a mid-stage cultivator of the Core Formation Realm, which boosted his confidence.
They arrived at a large hall that was empty except for a statue and the fragrant smoke rising from incense, the scent of sandalwood enveloping them.
“Ladies, please make yourselves at home; I will take my leave now.”
Lu Xun bowed politely before leaving without further ado.
This left Lin Fengmian and Wen Qinlin, who had been on guard, feeling somewhat confused. They had entered so easily?
They pretended to kneel before the statue, but Lin Fengmian suddenly felt the Demon Emperor Technique within him activate on its own.
Since he had encountered poison before, he quickly recognized the symptoms.
Damn it, I knew it! The Goddess of Birth is indeed up to something!
At that moment, Wen Qinlin’s voice whispered in his ear, “The incense is suspicious! Hold your breath and condense your divine consciousness!”
“We’ll play along and pretend to be poisoned. Let’s see what this guy is really up to!”
Lin Fengmian subtly nodded and immediately circulated his internal energy to ward off the poison.
After a short while, they feigned weakness and collapsed to the ground moments later.
Not long after, another person entered the hall – it was Lu Xun.
He glanced at the fallen duo, a smile forming at the corners of his mouth. “I didn’t expect two of you to come right to my doorstep! How delightful!”
A moment later, three young Taoists entered, their eyes gleaming as they looked at the unconscious Wen Qinlin.
“Brother Lu is impressive, it’s so easy! That girl is truly beautiful, like a fairy!”
However, one of them looked worried. “Brother Lu, these two seem to be young maidens, not married women seeking blessings. If we are discovered…”
Lu Xun sneered. “What is the problem? Who said I’m going to let them go back? I just confirmed it.”
” They are not from Ning City and have no escorts. As long as you keep your mouth shut, no one will know.”
“Besides, I can keep them here in the temple. At night, my brothers won’t feel lonely, right?”
The others exchanged glances, breathing a little faster, no longer arguing with his words.
One of them couldn’t help but chuckle lewdly and said, “Brother Lu, since we have two here, why not…?”
Lu Xun scowled and barked, “Get out! Who do you think you are? Get out and close the door!”
Not daring to say another word, the three Taoists submissively replied and stepped outside to close the heavy door.
Lu Xun looked at the two fallen figures, unable to suppress a lewd grin.
“Pretty ladies, here I come!”
As he extended his hand to them, Lin Fengmian sneered and kicked him in the chest.
I only like touching women, not being touched by men!
Caught off guard, Lu Xun was sent flying and let out a scream of pain as he staggered back to call for help.
Suddenly, Wen Qinlin jumped to her feet and grabbed him by the neck as if he were a mere chick.
With a flick of her wrist, several formation flags descended, instantly isolating the room from the outside world.
Wen Qinlin disdainfully threw Lu Xun to the ground, treating him like a piece of trash.
“Help! Master, save me!”
Lin Fengmian had already guessed the purpose of this formation and smiled slightly. “Go ahead and scream. You can scream at the top of your lungs and no one will hear you.”
As soon as he spoke, Lu Xun realized what was happening. He stepped back in disbelief. “Lin Fengmian!”
Lin Fengmian grinned. “It’s me, the young master. Brother Lu, it’s been a few days – when did you become a flower-picking lecher?”
Lu Xun’s face paled and his bravado crumbled. “Lin Fengmian, this is Tai Xu Temple. What do you want?”
Lin Fengmian stood over him and stepped on his chest with a smile. “What do I want? Brother Lu, you still don’t understand your situation, do you?”
Wen Qinlin let out a cold breath and spoke sternly. “You have been committing wrongdoings at Tai Xu Temple. If it weren’t for us, you would have continued your evil ways for much longer!”
Lu Xun’s face turned ashen as fear washed over him. “I’m just a first-time offender. Please spare me!”
Lin Fengmian crouched down, his expression icy. “Enough with the excuses. Tell us what secret this temple is hiding that you’re activating this formation for!”
Just as Lu Xun was about to speak, a soft sigh echoed in the room. “If you have questions, why not ask me directly?”
The door creaked open and Master Huanglong stepped in.
He glanced at Lu Xun lying on the floor and let out a cold snort. “Disgraceful disciple!”
Lu Xun trembled in fear, not daring to look up. He muttered, “Master, save me!”
Master Huanglong ignored him and bowed respectfully to Lin Fengmian. “Young Master Lin, I apologize for not welcoming you properly.”
Lin Fengmian scoffed, “You got here pretty fast. Is this all your doing?”
Master Huanglong shook his head. “I was unaware of this matter. If it weren’t for you, Young Master Lin, I would still be in the dark, deceived by this disgraceful disciple.”
“This incident happened because my disciple was reckless and caused such trouble. I am willing to accept any punishment.”
Lin Fengmian was taken aback. He had prepared himself to confront the mastermind behind the scenes and engage in a fierce battle.
To his surprise, the other party immediately surrendered, leaving him with the feeling of hitting a cotton pillow.
“You’re quite the self-sacrificing one, aren’t you? Willing to accept punishment? If I wanted to kill you, would you just accept it?”
Master Huanglong replied, “Although this troublesome disciple has committed many sins, he is only a lecher; he has not harmed anyone’s life.”
“At most, I am guilty of not disciplining him properly. His crimes are not worthy of death. If you want to kill me, I will not just sit back and accept it.”
Lin Fengmian listened to the old man’s seemingly reasonable words and exchanged a glance with Wen Qinlin.
Wen Qinlin nodded and said via voice transmission, “As long as there’s no evidence of his involvement, his crimes don’t really warrant death. At most, he could be imprisoned for a certain period of time.”
Lin Fengmian felt frustrated enough to spit blood. He retorted, “Old Taoist, tell me, where were you this morning?”
Master Huanglong honestly replied, “Since the last time I saw you, I have been in seclusion in the temple, not stepping outside. Everyone in the temple can vouch for me.”
