Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Opponent Is No Match
After taking two direct hits from Meng Bei's *Freezing Ray*, most of his body was frostbitten. If not for the protective traits of his dragon transformation, he would have already lost the ability to fight.
To his credit, Yu Tianheng was incredibly resilient. Anyone else in his position would have been unable to continue. Yet, he managed to stand his ground, though barely.
Seeing this, Meng Bei's eyes gleamed with a cold light once more.
He prepared to release a third *Freezing Ray*.
This battle should end now.
Yu Tianheng, battered and bleeding, lacked the strength to dodge.
At the critical moment, someone rushed onto the stage.
"Wait! Stop! We surrender!"
It was Dugu Yan.
Meng Bei hesitated, the white light in his eyes dissipating before the attack could fire.
Dugu Yan bowed deeply in gratitude toward Meng Bei.
She had seen firsthand how fast and deadly that technique was. The fact that Meng Bei didn't unleash it immediately showed mercy, giving them a chance to surrender. She was immensely thankful for his restraint.
*[Ding! Side quest completed. Reward: Soul power increased by 3 levels.]*
"Thirty-nine now. That was quick!" Meng Bei mused as he stepped off the stage.
Soon, the head of the Great Spirit Arena approached him.
"Congratulations, Mr. Meng Bei! Achieving the Gold Spirit Badge at such a young age is extraordinary!"
As he spoke, he presented the prestigious Gold Spirit Badge.
Meng Bei accepted it with both hands, politely thanking the man.
Unlike Shrek Academy's "avoid trouble at all costs" philosophy, Meng Bei had his own set of principles.
He wasn't arrogant, despite his talent. He avoided making enemies unless absolutely necessary.
He valued friendships and was always open to making new ones, like with Tang San.
At the same time, if he did make an enemy, he would ensure to deal with them swiftly and decisively, leaving no chance for retaliation.
Because of this approach, Meng Bei maintained excellent relationships with most people he encountered. Even Grandmaster, with his eccentric personality, held Meng Bei in high regard—despite Meng Bei harboring thoughts of how to prank Grandmaster one day.
"Oh, right!"
The arena official suddenly remembered something and handed Meng Bei two items: a gold card and a sealed envelope.
"This gold card contains your rewards and bonuses for your matches, Mr. Meng Bei. The envelope contains a letter for your academy. The Great Spirit Arena wishes to discuss something important with Shrek Academy's leader."
*[Ding! Main Quest 2 activated.]*
*Main Quest:* "The fledgling eagle must soar. Lead Shrek Academy to defeat the Emperor Team and head to Heaven Dou City."
*Difficulty:* Hard.
*Reward:* Unlock a domain ability.
Meng Bei accepted the items with a smile. "I'll make sure it's delivered."
As he exited the arena, he ran into the Emperor Team, led by Qin Ming, who was technically his senior.
To avoid any misunderstandings, Qin Ming immediately stepped forward.
"We're here to thank you!"
"Thank you for showing mercy to Tianheng," Qin Ming said earnestly.
The other members of the Emperor Team echoed their gratitude.
Meng Bei waved his hands, a bit embarrassed by their politeness.
The Emperor Team then invited Meng Bei to dinner.
Meng Bei, never one to refuse food or company, happily accepted.
Over the meal, the group talked about various topics. Meng Bei's impressive strength and approachable personality quickly won over the Emperor Team.
As the conversation flowed, they began to learn more about Meng Bei.
Qin Ming finally asked, "Meng Bei, with your talent, which academy are you from?"
Meng Bei grinned mischievously and winked.
"Senior Brother, take a guess."
"Senior Brother?"
The group was taken aback, their gazes shifting between Meng Bei and Qin Ming.
After a moment, Qin Ming's eyes lit up in realization.
"Flender!"
Meng Bei nodded.
The revelation brought the group closer, their shared connection strengthening their camaraderie.
At the end of the meal, Qin Ming presented a gift on behalf of the Emperor Team—a token of gratitude for sparing Yu Tianheng.
Meng Bei initially declined but eventually accepted when Qin Ming insisted it was for Shrek Academy.
Back at Shrek Academy, Meng Bei handed the letter to Flender.
After reading it, Flender quickly gathered the team.
"Xiao Bei, do you know anything about this Emperor Team?" Flender asked, passing the letter around.
The letter revealed that the Great Spirit Arena wanted to arrange a special match between Shrek and the Emperor Team.
Despite Shrek's current status as a Bronze Spirit Badge team, the match would be treated as an exception.
The rewards were lucrative: a high appearance fee and a share of the match's profits if Shrek won.
But Flender, with his years of experience, remained cautious. Such generous terms surely came with significant risks.
Thus, he sought Meng Bei's insights about the Emperor Team.
Everyone turned to Meng Bei.
He smirked confidently.
"Of course I know them!"
Meng Bei recounted his encounter with the Emperor Team at the arena, leaving out no details.
He also revealed his connection to Qin Ming and how they had bonded over dinner.
Meng Bei jokingly suggested that Flender ask Qin Ming to rig the match and split the profits fifty-fifty.
Flender chuckled, swatting at Meng Bei playfully. "Don't tempt me! I have principles, you know!"
Still, Flender wanted to assess the Emperor Team's strength.
"Xiao Bei, since you've fought Yu Tianheng, what do you think of his abilities? Should we take this challenge?"
Meng Bei's eyes sparkled mischievously.
"Not worth mentioning. Yu Tianheng is no match for me."
"I defeated him in just two soul skills. In terms of strength, I'd rank him around the middle of our team. If Tang San performs normally, he should be able to beat him easily!"
