John Snow is A Girl

Chapter 70: Winter

Deanerys paced around the room even when her gown got loose she didn't notice as the bite of the cold made her skin get goosebumps instantly.

"Perhaps she is just delayed." Her most trusted advisor said. Deanerys just scoffed.

"No, she is making me wait on purpose." She snapped and then sat down covering herself properly.

The city is hungry. It has taken all the men to help keep the situation under control but it will not last for long.

In truth people don't care who is king as long as they live well. She is at her wit's end as bodies keep dropping.

The Tyrells are feigning helplessness but who can trust the words of that old fox Olenna Tyrell?

To make matters worse, the North has refused to return her oldest child to her. Just thinking about the dragon struggling under the oppression of the Northerners.

The people have been organizing small scale riots which were quickly subdued by her army but she can fell the under current in the city. If nothing changes soon, this place will be covered in dust and ash. All her hard work would have been for nothing.

To make things worse she and the rest of the kingdom's have seen thw news in the news paper about Falming snow kingdom's recent development. A man called Adrios has successfully created something called electricity.

It can light up the castle making it as bright at night as day. The paper said it can be used for so much more. Just a while back they invested something called a chip. Then a computer but what stumped Deanerys is that non of these inventions have reached Westeros.

In truth, the team doesn't seem to want commercial value of all these. They invent and then focus on perfecting their invention.

By the time the Red lands use electricity to light up the houses in the kingdom, many have forgotten about it. Olivia kept injecting her investment into the research because she knows she is the only one with a medical relic inside her soul which means if she perished her kingdom will move backward.

While the Westeros is stuck in the past. The Red lands is lit up with street lights, using computers to process data and moving to invention of an engine.

It would be fine if no one knows but these are all in the news papers delivered to them regularly.

Winter raged on and the capital city of Westeros is hanging by a thin thread. Deanerys is ready to travel to beg Olivia when a sudden change occurred.

It happened to be the day she had called in some leaders to discuss a few things including Robb Stark. Olivia finally made an entrance.

A loud horn sounded from flee bottom and when she looked out the window she saw a large boat designed as a white flame approached the shore. This is the boat in the news paper said to have the world's first engine.

Flaming Snow kingdom's 'Flaming boat' as it is called. Deanerys quickly got dressed and went to welcome Olivia in the throne room. The so called council members also came to see the visitors.

Olivia entered the throne room carrying a 7 year old cute boy who looked around as if trying to find someone.

When his large black eyes rested on Deanerys he squirmed free from Olivia who kept saying something as she put him down. The boy walked towards Deanerys with quick steps almost falling a couple of times.

He has deep black hair that seem to shine with an obsidian light. He has large black eyes that make him look adorable as he feigned composure in front of Deanerys whose eyes are now glistening with tears.

"Drogo come to your mother." She said with a trembling voice. Drogo climbed the steps and finally reached her then he spoke in a low but incredibly cute voice.

"I guess you can hug me this once." Deanerys is stunned then she opens her arms hugging the boy tightly speaking a lot of gibberish that only a few could understand.

She went on full sobs and Rogo raised his hand and patted her shoulder. With a small soft voice he said

"There there..."

Deanerys came to her senses when she heard that and quickly pulled herself together.

"You have brought my son to me Olivia Snow, what reward would you like for me to show my gratitude?"

A pleasant laugh came from below the stairs. Olivia is wearing a warm white coat made from cotton and silk. The coat is not buttoned up showing the high waste long trousers with porcelain design same as in her shirt tucked under the pants. Her shoes are black boots with a pointy front.

Standing there she looks like a modern person from the mortal domain she used to see. She looks classy but the people around her are baffled by her style.

"Don't be silly little aunt. What could you possibly give me?" Translation, 'you can't afford me.' But Olivia has learned to hide her sharp edges over the years. So she just glossed over the question.

The council members tried to converse with Olivia but she seemed distracted and soon enough her face broke into a wide smile as a deafening horn sounded from the shore.

The new ship has an unfamiliar sigil and seems to be filled with foreigners. A group of soldiers wearing light but gorgeous dark silver armor with carvings of an unknown creature surrounded by what seems to be flames or is it water anyways it looks beautiful, walked forward and they all stood in front of the stairs going up towards the iron throne.

The one in front is none other than Daario. He stood tall in front of the woman whom he had spent countless nights thinking of. She is just as beautiful as she was the day she shattered his heart into a million pieces and left him to die slowly from heartbreak.

She doesn't seem to have lost much sleep over it. Falling for a ruler and one with such a heavy destiny was undoubtedly a foolish thing to do. "Khalisi, it is good to see you."

Deanerys can see the change in him. Daario used to have stars in his eyes whenever he saw her but now he seems to have gotten over the heartache of losing her at that time. This doesn't make Deanerys have any particular sourness it's just a little uncomfortable that's all.

They have been looking at each other for a while now, Daario keeping a perfect gentlemanly smile on his face while Deanerys studied him carefully.

No one knows when did Olivia start munching on a pocket of dried raisins and pecan nuts watching the scene as if watching a good show.

Rogo suddenly ran out from Deanerys embrace sprinting towards Olivia. The situation shifted from the before as everyone watched Rogo dive into Olivia's embrace. After a while he came out with a smaller pocket of the same snack and then also wore the same expression of eating melons, turned his eyes to the two people.

"I was not informed of your arrival." Deanerys said to Daario.

"Forgive my intrusion but when I heard our beloved and most cherished Khalisi is surrounded by hungry mobs, we as your friends and allies couldn't sit still." Olivia's eyes almost popped out in astonishment.

"Friends and Allies?" Deanerys expression subtly changed. Not just her, but everyone understood that Daario is here to break the Meereen city away from the dragon queen's banner.

"I must admit this is not what I was expecting." She didn't change her face too much. But inside she is seething. This is undoubtedly very humiliating. A man who is supposed to kneel and offer his allegiance again is now covertly severing ties with her.

The Westeros council members understood at a glance that things are not as simple as they seem on the surface. Everyone's ears perked up.

"Yes, the city of Meereen will always have you in their hearts but times are harsh and the webs of power require a firm stance. If we are not standing with our own abilities the other cities will swallow us." He continued to explain.

Translation: Other cities look down on us for having a ruler oceans away and want to pick on us.

"I see. What did my dear 'friend and allay' bring to show their abilities as an independent city." She asked coolly.

Raising his head, Daario looked at the people he brought with him and they turned around rushing outside. When they returned, tens of a few hundred liters worth of carriers are pulled into the city by powerful looking horses.

"As explained before. This is to show our gratitude for breaking the chains around our necks and freeing us all those years ago. We as Meereen city will forever hold you in our hearts." Daario stood straight as the carriers are opened one by one.

Internally Olivia is hoping they didn't bring dog meat for offering here. Just in time for Daario to gesture and a list is given to him.

"12 frost glass boxes 300 liters in size of carriers have raw cleanly sliced and packed beef meat." This made everyone gape in surprise. Even Olivia felt they are being too generous. Cows are not easy to raise in the dry lands of Essos.

"15 frost glass boxes, 300 liters in size carriers have chicken meat."

The list got more ridiculous as it went on. It felt like Meereen is the wealthiest city in the world.

Quilts, warm shoes made with soft wood. Sox, cotton material for making warm clothing. Rice, flour, oil, sugar, salt and even wine.

It will give the city a much needed breather during this difficult time. Even though she felt bitterness in her heart, she still nodded in thanks. If she didn't express gratitude after receiving such a favor, she will look like an ungrateful person.

Daario declined to stay and talk with the queen. Claiming to have urgent business. It became clear he is distancing himself from her as much as possible.

Carriers are said to be rented from the Flaming Snow kingdom so they reluctantly had to empty them out and allow him to leave with them on the same day. He didn't wait for them and went back to the ship as if someone is chasing him.

Olivia watched the drama unfold with great interest. But to her it wasn't something that concerns her at all, but a few moments later sitting across a very angry Deanerys.

"Did you know about this?" She asked Olivia with visible flushed cheeks. Not knowing whether it is the cold or the anger.

"I know the two of you are working together. I heard how you save the entire city from starvation. It's funny how you can't do the same for me your family." She said bitterly.

"I needed to gain a valuable allay. I have such a vast kingdom and those slavers have long eyed it for a treasure trove to pick up 5. I need to have reliable neighbors who will fight the good fight alongside me." Olivia said helplessly.

"You should have come to me first and now all you did was make him arrogant." Deanerys is not wrong but...

"With all due respect you were busy with your conquest you had no time to spare. Not to mention you lost your most powerful companion." Olivia almost rolled her eyes.

"Thank you for retreating from the iron islands." Deanerys said and Olivia remembered her dukes had decided to retreat from the iron Islands when they learned of the various developments in the Flaming snow kingdom.

They didn't want to lose the chance to develop their lands with new technologies just because of greed.

"Sure." Olivia didn't want to tell Deanerys that she had nothing to do with the duke's retreat. Instead she focused on Daario's earlier action and tried to comfort her little aunt.

"He is just angry that's all. After giving you his heart, you used him and left him to die in a place surrounded by enemies. Yunkai has been harassing him all this time." Olivia defended her business partner.

"He said I was his queen!" She shouted in anger. Meereen is very rich now, it almost feels like she is being dismissed like a beggar with the food give compared to the wealth she could get if she holds on to the city as it's queen.

"Then you abandoned him for greater exploits you can't blame the guy for being sad. Now he is ridiculed in every table for being a discarded puppy." Olivia exaggerated a bit.

"You are not helping me. Just go." Olivia ran like the wind hearing those words but she is so un lucky she met Robb Stark in the corridors of the red keep.

"Sister." He said in greeting.

"King Robb." He said and wanted to walk pass her. Everyone since his mother suggested he marry Olivia he had began to have wrong thoughts about her especially when she became so beautiful.

Olivia herself doesn't even remember why she was mad at her brother. But it seems whenever she saw him her mood would sour involuntarily.

"Wait, let's talk." Seeing her wanting to move away still he pleaded. "Please." She relented.

They sat in an inn although it doesn't have much food for the guests. "Can we mend our relationship? Every time I think about it I really don't understand why we are always fighting. You didn't even attend Sansa's wedding." He said in an accusatory tone.

"I sent her a gift. I can assure you she enjoyed it more than she would have enjoyed my presence." Olivia is unconcerned.

"I have thrown three first name days celebration for my children and you haven't been to any of them." He pointed out.

"They are your children. Don't impose on others to be happy just because you're happy." She sneered. He chuckled softly.

"When are you getting married? I caught someone staring at you longingly in the throne room." He teased.

"I don't know what you're talking about." She glared at him.

"Maybe we could meet and talk sometime. What do you say? You are my sister after all."

She looked outside the window and agreed. Although this brother of hers is a little foolish and a mama's boy, she still cares for him somewhere deep down.

"Great how about that resort of yours? We could just meet for drinks in a tea shop otherwise." Olivia smirked.

"Can you even afford it? Have you paid all the coins you owe this queen?" Olivia asked intrigued.

"What do you think happened between those two anyways?" They looked on the streets and the people are returning the carriers.

"Love." Olivia said with a smile.

"Huh?"

"He loved her but she discarded him." She said firmly. "I just never thought he harbored such deep resentment." She marveled.

"Don't you work closely with him?" He asked but she only shrugged.

"How can I know someone's deep thoughts? I always assumed he would come and crawled to her kissing her feet." She said honestly.

"I didn't see resentment when I saw him. All I saw was urgency as if he was impatient to sever ties with her." Robb said.

"If I had a man like that, I would graciously accept his affection for me. But that's because I don't have a need for a marriage alliance like her. She made a good choice to leave her lover behind. But I know a man would have brought him along." Olivia said.

"True, men have little sense." Robb agreed. "Are you even looking for a husband?"

"I am looking." She admits stunning him.

"Where are you looking?" He oddly felt nervous.

"I am not actively looking but I am ready to have a baby of my own and a loving husband. However, I am not in a hurry." She explained.

"What about your adopted son? What happens to him once you have children of your own?"

"What do you mean? Rogo will always be the first prince of Flaming snow kingdom. Besides, I have several kingdom's under my rule he can have any of them as the first prince if he so desire.

"Are you serious? He is not...your own son?" Robb felt a bitterness in his throat making him choke.

"Does blood relations matter that much? He is the boy I raised with my own hands. Who else but me can be his mother?" She asked but Robb felt he is on thin ice so he didn't say anything else.

Robb didn't know what to say after hearing those passionate words. "I have always wanted to travel to the free cities." He changed the subject.

"You should take your wife traveling. Try to relax I'm sure Southerner politics are exhausting." He can hear the sneer in her tone.

"It would take a lot of time for me to put together that much coins for leisure. Your subordinates are not merciful with the installment. They say 'the coin house' makes no exceptions." He makes a funny voice.

Olivia laughs at him. "They were trained that way. Why do you think they have such imposing security?"

"They carry around small magic cards they use to siphon the thousands of coins and then walk out as if carrying nothing. To be honest it's kind of spooky." He complains.

Olivia didn't respond, her mind went to the changes in the wealth castle master that handles wealth of the kingdom.

That's right Olivia has opened a banking system of sorts. The cards can only be accessed by the owner just like the ones in the treasure hunting grounds. Instead of carrying around all that money, you can store it in your card.

There's even a security system. If the card is destroyed it will reappear in the coin house inside your own safe. If the card holder is dead, it will disappear and appear inside their safe. So if a person is Robbed, killed or in an accident their wealth will only be accessed by those they wrote in their will.

There are different cards for businesses. If you hire someone, their payment will be in their card on time facilitated by the coin house. The coin house caters for loans and general salaries in the kingdom.

The coin house building is not as exaggerated as the one in Bravos But it allows people the ability to store and retrieve their coins using the cards.

Not all cards can handle a lot of coins the size is determined by the fee they pay for using the bank which is directly deducted from the card and into the coin house every last day of the month.

"This entire coin house operation is miraculous." Robb commented.

"It's magic, its supposed to be mind blowing." Olivia answered calmly.

She is not keen on a show and tell. Somehow she wants to keep things that makes her own kingdom special away from her supposed family. While they are talking and having a nice slow of pace, a servant walked in and handed her a small letter.

She opened it seeing the new sigil of the Meereen city. "May I interest the lady in a short conversation?" Olivia furrowed her brows, she doesn't want to be too close to the guy who had just angered the wrathful queen of six kingdoms.

Sensing the change in her mood Robb, with complete lack of tact almost strained his neck trying to look. "I don't know what he is trying to pull with this 'summon' after pissing off Deanerys." She looked at the servant "Tell him I'm bringing my brother." The servant left.

"This is your chance to make a connection with someone who can sell you somethings that you don't have in your kingdom."

Robb understood but just as they are about to go meet Daario, he is summoned by one Deanerys Storm born for a chat. Thus Olivia had to go meet Daario on her own.

"Where is your brother?" Daario asked but Olivia scoffed at him.

"What kind of stunt was that just now? You server ties with Deanerys, why?"

"She was only a ruler in name only while I have to wake up early and sleep late mostly to feed and clothe the people she 'freed' from their masters who even though treated them bad, fed and clothed them." Daario said in resentment.

"Didn't you also aspire to be a 'freed' man like those people?" Olivia asked incredulously.

"I am fine with her doing whatever she wants to do but then she went and dumped all of it on me. I am a warrior not a politician. I just wanted to follow a beautiful woman, not to turn into those scheming people myself!" Daario threw a cup across the ship in anger.

"I didn't know you were so unhappy." Olivia found a seat and sat down not knowing what else to say.

"I was angry at first, then despair enveloped me when I was helpless watching thousands of people dying in a single week. I used to see it all the time before but I wasn't responsible for them in the past. After witnessing it happen under my management I felt like I have sinned against all those souls."

"After all I was part of the army that killed the masters who used to provide food for them. It was all one big adventure but if you didn't show up when you did what would have become of the place? Of me?" He asked looking at Olivia with red eyes. This man should have been an artist. He is so passionate.

"Alright. It's all good now you have made great progress with running the city and the people are happy under your rule. Don't think about the past anymore." Olivia comforted.

Daario looked visibly relived to hear her comforting words. His eyes simmered with hidden vulnerability.

"Do you.... think that I did a wrong thing?" He seemed nervous about her answer but Olivia didn't answer him.

"Please. You are the only person I can trust in my table. I will take your advice to heart." There is a tremor in his voice.

"I am not the right person to advice you on matters such as this. Do you know I left home when I was 11?" She looked out the ships window with an unreadable readable expression.

"My father was always kneeling and bowing, I forgot how strong he was. You see, he was not in fact weak for kneeling and obeying it was just the way things were. I know this but I couldn't bring myself to kneel in front of a person I despised." Olivia sighed remembering Cersei Lannister as te queen of seven kingdoms.

"You might not despise Deanerys but you do resent her, and unlike my father who lived on the same side of the map with his king, you have the benefit to not kneel if you so wish. Why should you do it if you don't want to?" She took out a new invention of hers a cigarette made with spirit herbs that pack a mean punch when mixed together I a certain way.

She lit it up with her fire magic. The smoke filled her lungs making her feel relaxed. When she looked at Daario his eyes are shining.

"What?" She asked and he visibly swallowed.

"What is that? It smells funny." He looks away from her. When she put that thing on her red lips it gave him an incredibly attractive view of her profile. So sexy it make his throat parched.

"Another way to die slowly." She said puffing out smoke rings.
