Chapter 7: The false hero (Boku no hero academia x dc x crossover)
"I was told there would be a bright light when I died, but no it's just darkness. Not a light, not even dim. So... am I dead?"
[Yes.]
"Oh, shit. Am I in hell? I mean, what the hell did I even do to deserve this? I've lived a mostly decent life! I've never broken a law except maybe jaywalking. Was it the pre-marital sex? It was the pre-marital sex, wasn't it? If that's the case, most of humanity is going to end up here with me eventually."
[No, dumbass. You're not in hell.]
"Then where am I? And more importantly, who are you?"
[First, you're currently in the infinite void of nothingness. Everyone from your world comes here after death because, fun fact, your world didn't have an afterlife. Second, my name's William, and I'm your senior gamer.]
"My senior what?"
[Look, I'm not here to hold your hand or explain every detail. All you need to know is you're getting another shot at life—but there's a catch. You're going to join an organization. Don't worry; it's low effort. Complete the first world and you'll be fine.]
"An organization? What kind of organization?"
[One filled with the worst scum you can imagine: mass murderers, rapists, conquerors. And yeah, I guess you could lump me into that category. To be fair, though, I only joined for revenge. Young me was… misguided.]
"Well, if my options are joining this group or staying in a pitch-black void forever, I'll join. Anything to get out of this place."
[Figures. You're one of those types.]
"Uh, what types?"
[The hypocritical kind. The kind who judges others while justifying their own shady actions. Listen, I'm in your head now. Try that self-righteous crap on me and I'll end you, penalties be damned.]
"Whoa, okay. Chill out. I'm not judging anyone!"
[Sure, activist boy. I saw your life. 'Fighting for the people,' huh? All so you could sleep with liberal/progressive women. Don't think I didn't notice.]
"...Fair point."
[Right. Time to set you up. First, your system. Turns out you only qualify for one.]
"Is that good or bad?"
[Depends. Lucky for you, it's decent. Congrats, you're now the host of the Fake Hero System.]

[Starter world selected. Loading…]
As the void pulled me forward, my vision went black. Moments later, I landed on something soft—a bed? My eyes adjusted to a dimly lit room. A plain bedroom, generic and unassuming.
Getting up, I found a laptop on the table beside the bed. Booting it up, I started searching for information about this world. Within five minutes, I knew exactly where I was.
The number one hero, the Symbol of Peace, graced the front page of a news article.
I was in My Hero Academia.
"Okay, this could be manageable," I muttered.
But then, another headline caught my eye: Arkham Asylum Breakout.
"...Wait. What?"
Skimming the article, my chest tightened. This wasn't just My Hero. This world had DC elements.
And if DC was involved, who knew what else might be thrown into the mix?
"How do I access other worlds?"
Next World Quest

"Time to hit the streets."
Opening the window, I stared into the night. The city below was alive with crime, shadows slithering through the alleys.

This is the first rewrite of a one shot I made that originally was supposed to be a full story. I don't know. I'm gonna continue this, but might as well give it a rewrite.
