C18: The Goblin Treasure (4)
As the group of silver-ranked adventurers made their way deeper into the forest, they came to a large open area.
“Is this… a settlement?”
“Did the goblins build it? How long have they been here?”
The trees had been cut down and the forest had been cleared, and a large settlement had been built. There was even a small fence built, with goblins guarding the perimeter here and there.
“…It’s not just goblins that have built these settlements. There might even be a goblin general.”
The goblin general is a higher level monster born from the evolution of goblins. Its strength was such that even the Silver rankers themselves could not say for sure that they could win.
“I think we should retreat for now. Let’s wait for Gold Rank’s return and attack again.”
Mertina suggests, but Leon raises his voice to argue with her.
“Nonsense! Some of those women might have been captured by the goblins! Are you going to abandon them?”
“I didn’t say that! I’m saying I don’t know if we can win with our strength!”
Leon snickered at Mertina’s rebuttal.
“Oh dear, you’re a woman after all. All right, you guys can go home first. A beautiful maiden is not fit for the battlefield. You would look better in a dress than in armor.”
“What did you say?”
Ignoring Meltina’s warning, Leon headed towards the goblin village. The sub-leader of the Golden Sword, a black-armored warrior, scratched his head.
“I’m sorry, but he’s our leader. We can’t just abandon him. I have a return scroll, so you don’t have to worry about us.”
The black-armored warrior tells the members of the “Silverwing Maidens” and follows Leon’s back.
“I don’t blame you. We have to…”
“Hmm…”
“Hey, Lime?”
Lime tried to go after the “Golden Sword” party but Mertina stopped her in a hurry.
“Goblins, I’ll kill them…We have to save everyone…”
“Adventurers need to know when to quit. If we don’t bring back the information here, the damage will be much worse in case something happens to us.”
“I’m fine…don’t worry.”
“Of course I’m worried. You’re one of us.”
Mertina said in a troubled tone. Usually, Lime is not assertive, but when she gets stubborn like this, she doesn’t listen to any advice.
“Okay. We’ll go with you, but if it gets dangerous, you have to run. Katie, would you mind?”
“Sure thing, Sub Leader!”
“Hmm, got it.”
The three members of the Silverwing followed the other adventurers to the village. They were oblivious to the scene of despair that awaited them.
