It Seems Like a Girl I Don’t Know Is Doing Housework at My Place. But She’s Cute, So I’m Watching Her.

Chapter 10

“Uh… I was just lost in thought for a moment… Did you say something?”

Hmm. This stalker is definitely acting strange. She’s trembling slightly, and seems unusually restless. Now that I think about it, her behavior has been odd for a little while now. I thought she was just letting her true self show, but even then, she was stuttering more than usual.

Just when I finally decided to face her, this strange behavior started. At first, I wondered if she might be feeling unwell, but she hasn’t shown any signs of that until now.

Although I haven’t been paying close attention, I’m pretty sure the stalker is in good health. It’s not impossible for someone’s condition to suddenly worsen, but if that were the case, she wouldn’t be acting so leisurely.

For now, I decided to put off confronting the stalker. I don’t want to do anything rash in this situation where something is clearly off. I mean, who would want to face someone who’s trembling for no apparent reason?

So, I shifted my focus to observing her. I couldn’t directly check what was going on, but maybe I could figure it out by listening to her voice and watching her actions.

“Um, well, you know? It’s a nice day today, isn’t it?”

What’s wrong with her? She suddenly sounds like a socially awkward character from a manga… Where did all that confidence go? She was just talking happily about a friend I don’t even know.

For someone who can talk about a friend of a friend with such ease, this topic seems too mundane. Does that mean she’s really desperate? Is her brain so occupied that she had to resort to talking about the weather?

“Oh, right! If we’re going to have dinner together… I should check if we have enough ingredients. Um, let’s see, what do we have!?”

With those words, the weight that had been pressing on me disappeared. It seems she went over to the refrigerator.

To be fair, checking the ingredients is indeed necessary. I’m the kind of person who actually cooks, so I probably have more food stocked up than the average college student living alone.

But even so, I only buy enough for one person, so there’s a chance that the ingredients might not be enough.

…The problem is that her behavior is a bit suspicious. While checking the ingredients is necessary, her actions seem to have a hidden motive or feel like an excuse.

“Oh no… We might be a little short on ingredients.”

Her voice sounds deliberately exaggerated. It’s slightly high-pitched, so she’s clearly trying to hide something.

I hear the sound of the refrigerator door opening, so I casually glance over at her without making it obvious.

She’s bent over, looking inside the fridge. But as expected, her body is shaking. On top of that, she’s doing some sort of little step.

She’s lightly tapping her feet on the floor, and her body is trembling. Is she singing some upbeat song in her head?

“Hey! I’ll get everything ready, so can you go to the supermarket and pick up a few things for me?”

Yeah, I’m not going. Why would I take orders from someone who’s trespassing in my home? And I’m certain she has an ulterior motive for wanting me to leave the house.

Sure, I have a policy of doing things properly when it comes to cooking, but this is a different story. Now that I think about it, I remember that my stock of ingredients isn’t that bad. While it’s true that it’s been depleted a bit, I can easily cook enough for two people with what’s left.

So, ignoring her is the only option. I shift my attention back to my smartphone and try to shut out her presence.

“Haruto, you’re such a perv…”

—Hold on, did she just throw an uncalled-for insult at me!?

I quickly try to piece together why she would say something like that.

But I really have no idea. I’ve been completely ignoring her, so there’s no reason for her to call me that.

Sure, I did touch the stalker’s body, but that’s only because she was clinging to me, and I just let her be.

“Ugh…”

I hear a dissatisfied groan. But honestly, that reaction is just confusing.

If she has a complaint, she should use words to express it. I’ve learned firsthand over these past two weeks that this stalker is quite talkative. With how much she talks, she should just go ahead and shout out why she’s calling me a perv. Though I’m sure it’s baseless.

But seriously, what’s going on? There’s probably a reason for the stalker’s odd behavior, but I just can’t figure it out.

Even when I go over the stalker’s strange behavior in my mind, all I can think of is that she’s been acting desperate, trembling, and taking weird little steps… Oh.

“…No, that can’t be it…”

Wait, could it really be…?

“Ah… I really can’t hold it in anymore…!!”

—What the hell is she doing in someone else’s house, holding in the need to use the bathroom!?

Seriously, what is she doing? All this weird behavior was because she’s been holding it in the whole time? She must be an idiot. And then she calls me a perv on top of that? That’s just rude.

I mean, why the hell is she trying to pull off some kind of endurance challenge in someone else’s house? What if she fails? It would be disastrous in so many ways…

“It’s embarrassing if someone hears the sound of me peeing…!!”

She blurts out an excuse in a trembling voice as I let out a sigh.

I was still pretending to be focused on my game, but it seems she assumed the sigh was directed at her. Well, she’s right.

“Please, just go outside…!”

Stop saying that and just go to the bathroom already. You’re going to get a urinary tract infection. And if you don’t make it in time, it’ll be a disaster in more ways than one…

“At least listen to music!! I mean it, okay!?”

It seems she’s finally reached her limit, as she yells that out before running to the bathroom.

I hear the frantic sounds of her footsteps and the door slamming shut, and I find myself staring blankly into space.

“…What am I supposed to do now?”

She told me to listen to music, but if I follow her instructions, that would mean I’m no longer ignoring her… I mean, I was planning to stop ignoring her, but still.

Honestly, I really don’t want to face her after this weird incident. It’s too awkward in so many ways.

But if I ignore her instructions, she’ll accuse me of being a weirdo who was eager to listen in on her bathroom noises…

“This is a no-win situation…”

I bury my head in my hands. Why does she always force me into these ridiculous dilemmas?

Besides, she’s overthinking things. Sure, no one wants their bathroom noises to be heard, but it’s a universal human need.

At the very least, I don’t appreciate being called a perv. I’m not the kind of person who finds that kind of thing erotic. I know people have all sorts of fetishes, but that’s not one of mine.

So her accusation is completely baseless, but in this situation, there’s no way to deny it…

Seriously, this is giving me a headache. Why do I have to deal with this nonsense?

As I furrow my brows in frustration, I hear the sound of rushing water. Just to clarify, it’s the sound of the toilet flushing. It seems the “other” sound happened while I was busy worrying.

And then I hear the sound of her footsteps again. At least this irritating event seems to have ended without any major incident.

“──Hey! I told you to listen to music!!”

Correction: It seems the incident isn’t over. Of course. Since she was in the bathroom, she wouldn’t know that I wasn’t listening to music.

“Ugh, I’m going home!! …Haruto, you perv!”

In the end, it seems I can’t escape her baseless accusations. But at least it looks like the whole dinner conversation is off the table, so I can keep ignoring her.

“…That’s the only silver lining here.”

—At this point, I’ve decided that since she called me a perv, I’ll treat her accordingly. I’m definitely not going to engage with her.
