Is This The Tragedy?

Chapter 7: CHAPTER 7: WHAT IS THE PLAN?

On the farewell day of the training program, everyone gathered together, accompanied by their instructor. The 226 recruits stood ready to join the Japanese military and serve their nation. As the recruits were being sent to the military camp in the northern district of Japan, Arek was stopped by Kageyama—the strongest one himself. Kageyama instructed that Arek be sent to the western village instead of the eastern district. The instructor agreed without hesitation. Arek was surprised, as he had no idea what was happening, but respecting the decision of the strongest one, Arek too agreed.

Amaya and Arek shared a long, emotional look as they realized they would be separated. With heavy hearts, they kissed and promised to return stronger than before.

When Arek finally arrived at the western village, he found himself face-to-face with The teacher. Kageyama soon joined them and told Arek that a great tragedy was approaching. To prevent it, they needed Arek's help.

"The tragedy that even you, the strongest one, cannot handle?" Arek asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

Kageyama nodded gravely. "The king of dark magic possesses the power to even bring down the supreme lord. It's clear that even I cannot stop this tragedy."

Arek's eyes widened in disbelief. "The supreme lord? The one who created and maintains all the multiverses?"

Filled with even more questions, Arek pressed on. "Who could be powerful enough to kill him, and why am I the only one who can stop this?"

Before Kageyama could respond, the teacher intervened. "We will answer your questions in time. But for now, we brought you here so you could train with us."

Kageyama added, "This village is completely destroyed. Many retired soldiers used to live here. It's obvious that no ordinary gang could have wiped them out."

Arek, still in shock, asked, "How was the village destroyed?"

Before anyone could respond, a surge of intense aura erupted from deep within the village. The ground cracked open, and two monstrous figures emerged. The first, a towering creature, wielded a dark sword in one hand and bore wings on its back. The second was smaller, lacking wings and a sword, but its body was white.

The strongest one unsheathed his sword, preparing to face the creatures. "The amount of aura coming from these monsters is immense. But I can handle them," Kageyama said confidently.

Arek, eyeing the black monster, murmured, "A huge body with a mouth like a cyborg, a wing, and a dark sword in its hand. It looks terrifying." He then turned his attention to the second, smaller monster. "The other one is smaller, doesn't have wings or a sword, and is white in color."

The two monsters lunged at Kageyama, but he skillfully blocked their attacks. Though he seemed to be holding his ground, suddenly, Oculus erupted for the third time, releasing an enormous surge of aura and dark magic. Volcanic rocks and molten lava poured from the Oculus, causing destruction throughout the village. The 80% of aura from the Oculus only affected Kageyama whereas rest of aura started affecting the citizens, while dark magic fused with the two monsters, making them even stronger.

Kageyama, despite his strength, began to be overpowered by the two creatures. Seeing this, both the teacher and Arek rushed to his side, ready to fight alongside him.

Meanwhile, sensing the rest 20% overwhelming aura, the higher-ups decided to launch two separate units—one to destroy the Oculus and the other to save the citizens. The two units, consisting of 23 and 28 members, were dispatched toward the center of the village. The first unit was called "Destroyer," tasked with eliminating the rocks and lava, while the second, "Saver," focused on rescuing citizens.

The Saver unit began evacuating civilians, while the Destroyer unit attempted to absorb the lava and destroy the molten rocks. The destroyer unit also started sealing Oculus with their magic powers. As the Oculus began to weaken, releasing less dark magic, Kageyama, the teacher, and Arek started to gain the upper hand against the monsters.

Seeing his comrades' struggle, the black monster gathered all his dark magic into his sword and called out, "Dark Slash!" The attack sent Kageyama and the teacher flying, but Arek stood firm and was untouched by the blast.

At that moment, the white monster tried to seize Arek and open a portal, but Kageyama, rising to his feet, called out, "Be my friend, lightning-spark light!" A massive bolt of lightning struck the white monster's body. The creature tried to defend itself but failed, succumbing to the attack.

The teacher chanted a protective shield around Arek, ensuring his safety. Just as the black monster rushed toward Arek with his sword, Arek, with a burst of power, punched the monster back.

Kageyama, now determined to capture the monsters for information, lunged forward, but just then, an immense wave of aura erupted from the Oculus again destroying the seel created by savor unit. The sheer force of it brought Kageyama to his knees, leaving him vulnerable.

A portal opened, and both monsters, seeing their defeat approaching, rushed through it and vanished.

Kageyama, Arek, and the teacher stood in stunned silence. The village, once again, seemed to settle into an eerie calm.

"What are they planning?" "What is the plan?" Kageyama asked his voice filled with confusion and concern.
