Chapter 113: 113 Admiration
Tiona and Tione were the Amazonian sisters of the Loki Familia. One had an outgoing, tomboyish personality, while the other appeared calm and gentle but was secretly dark and calculating.
"This time, it's these two," Loki said, leaning against the window and introducing the sisters to Altair in the Loki Familia's captain's office.
"Yo! Hi there, big guy!"
The cheerful and lively younger sister, Tiona, waved enthusiastically at Altair, her face radiating a sunny smile, looking every bit the tomboy she was.
"Hello, Mr. Altair."
The older sister, Tione, was much more polite and reserved, though Altair knew full well that beneath her calm exterior lay a dark side.
"Nice to meet you both," Altair greeted them warmly. So, these were his next "projects."
Based on what Altair already knew about them, helping these two improve wouldn't be difficult. Tiona's strength could easily be enhanced by teaching her better combat techniques, given her straightforward and boisterous nature. As for Tione, her growth was tied to her admiration for Finn, the captain of the Loki Familia. Getting her to improve simply required Finn to step up and play his part, maybe even charm her a little.
In the original story, Finn knew about Tione's feelings for him—heck, the whole Familia did—but he never responded to them.
But now, under Altair's influence? Finn wouldn't have the luxury of staying on the sidelines.
"Loki-sama, let's start with Tione's case," Altair suggested. "Helping her improve is actually very simple."
"Oh? Simple, you say?" Loki raised her eyebrows, surprised. This was a Level 5 adventurer they were talking about—was it really that easy?
"Exactly. We don't even need to go to the dungeon. I can tell you right now how to help Tione increase her combat strength."
Altair moved closer to Loki and whispered in her ear, careful not to let Tione hear. The Amazonian sister watched the two with a puzzled expression as they murmured back and forth, until Loki suddenly leaned back in astonishment.
"That's it?"
"Yep, it's that simple," Altair replied confidently.
"This is just like Lefiya's case!"
"Exactly, it's the same principle."
Tione, still standing nearby, was now completely confused. What did they mean by "just like Lefiya"? What had happened with Lefiya? She knew Ais had come back with a powerful wind-based sword technique that was practically a wrecking ball in the dungeon. But Lefiya? No one knew what had changed about her.
Ever since then, Loki had been acting strangely, whispering about Lefiya and Ais in hushed tones and occasionally retreating to a corner, clutching a handkerchief while biting it with teary eyes. This behavior had baffled the entire Familia and earned her more than a few beatings from Riveria.
But Tione still had no idea what had actually happened with Lefiya, and now it seemed like she was next in line for whatever treatment Lefiya had undergone. It was making her nervous.
"Whatever. As long as it doesn't involve my dear Ais-tan, I don't care," Loki said nonchalantly.
Loki, always protective of Ais, agreed to Altair's plan without hesitation since it involved Finn instead of her favorite.
"I'll go fetch Finn now," Loki said, getting up.
"Alright, don't keep us waiting," Altair replied with a grin.
Loki left the room to find Finn, leaving Altair alone with the Amazonian sisters in the conference room.
"Um, Mr. Altair?"
Tione, clearly uneasy, broke the silence. Her situation had somehow ended up involving their captain, and the uncertainty was getting to her.
"What exactly did you tell Loki-sama just now? What do you mean by 'just like Lefiya'? And why does Finn-sama need to be involved?"
"This kind of thing... well, the strategy I've prepared to help you grow stronger, Miss Tione, involves Captain Finn," Altair said, leaning back on the sofa with a smile.
"As far as I know, Miss Tione, you have a deep admiration for Captain Finn, don't you?"
"Huh?"
Tione stared at Altair in surprise. She hadn't expected him to know about her feelings for Finn. This was something internal to the Loki Familia—how could Altair possibly know?
"Mr. Altair, how do you know about my feelings for the captain?"
"Oh, it's not hard to find out. Plenty of people know about it. Just a little digging and anyone could discover it. After all, the Loki Familia is one of the most famous in Orario. As members, you're all like celebrities. For the other adventurers in Orario, your lives make for fascinating conversation. Especially your personal relationships—they're the hottest topic of all!"
"Uh... is that really... true?"
Tione was stunned. She hadn't realized that her feelings for Finn were such open knowledge across Orario. How was she supposed to face people now? It was way too embarrassing.
Of course... that wasn't true at all.
Altair was bluffing. Even within the Loki Familia, not everyone knew about Tione's feelings for Finn, let alone the entire city. Only a select few were aware.
But with Altair's convincing tone, Tione naturally assumed the whole world knew.
Seeing Tione cover her face with her hands in embarrassment, Altair couldn't help but adjust his nonexistent glasses with a playful smirk.
"Miss Tione, remember, admiration is the furthest distance from understanding," Altair said, quoting a certain famous philosopher, Sosuke Aizen.
Tione froze at the profound words, feeling as if there was a sharp edge hidden within them. Her brows furrowed slightly in response.
"But don't worry. I'm here to help you close that distance," Altair continued.
Just as he finished speaking, the door swung open, and Loki returned.
"Yo, I've brought Finn."
Behind her, the diminutive yet commanding presence of Finn, the Pallum captain of the Loki Familia, entered the room. He nodded at the Amazonian sisters before smiling at Altair, who was still seated on the sofa.
"Mr. Altair, I hear you wanted to see me," Finn said.
"That's right. I needed to speak with you, Captain Finn," Altair replied, standing up and walking briskly to Finn's side.
"Captain, you're aware of the collaboration between myself and Loki-sama, correct?"
"Of course. What about it?"
"There's something I need your help with, and I hope you'll agree."
"It's no problem. As the captain, it's my duty to help my Familia members," Finn said confidently, nodding without hesitation.
"Excellent. Starting now, I need you to stay by Miss Tione's side 24/7. No matter what she does, you have to accompany her," Altair said with a grin.
"What!?"
"Excuse me!?"
Both Finn and Tione shouted in unison, their expressions a mix of shock and disbelief.
Altair ignored their stunned reactions and patted Finn on the shoulder with a cheerful smile.
"You already agreed, Captain Finn, so no backing out! Don't worry—I'll have Loki-sama and Miss Riveria keeping an eye on you to make sure you don't try to escape."
