chapter 73
73 Uramiori’s Holiday ①
“Miori, I’m sorry! I was wrong! I finally realized my true feelings! Let’s date again and start over together!”
“Kureya-kun…! You finally understand! Yes! Let’s start over! We have to be happy, even for Miori’s sake!”
“Yes, we’re going to be happy from now on! In that case, dating isn’t enough… That’s right, let’s get married! Stay with me forever, Miori! I don’t want to let you go anymore !”
“K-Kureya-kun…”
Overwhelmed with emotion after receiving an ardent marriage proposal from Kureya-kun, I almost burst into tears.
I never thought the day would come when I would hear such words from him.
I was convinced that today was the best day of my life.
(Oh, I’m really happy…)
I felt like I was on cloud nine from sheer joy.
And so we started dating again with the intention of getting married.
“You’re so cute, Miori. I can’t believe I almost threw you away when you’ve become so cute! I could punch myself for it!”
“Yes, I agree with that… But it’s okay, because you realized it! Let’s stay together from now on!”
“Of course! I love you, Miori.”
“I love you too, Kureya-kun!”
Oh, how happy I am.
I’ve been through a lot of trouble and surrounded by annoying people, but it all feels worth it now.
I felt like I could make up for everything and be happy together.
…But such happy days did not last long.
“Hi, Tsujimura-san.”
“Ah, Akanishi-san…!”
“Eh, Kureya-kun…? Who’s that girl…?”
A woman appeared before us, interrupting our happiness.
A short, unattractive, and dull-looking girl who seemed to have no charm.
For some reason, Kureya-kun was mesmerized by this girl, who was inferior to me in every way, both in looks and figure.
Of course, I couldn’t understand it, but the nightmare didn’t end there.
“Sorry, Miori. Let’s break up.”
“K-Kureya-kun!? What are you saying!?”
Eventually, Kureya-kun broke up with me.
“I thought I liked you, but it seems I was mistaken. I’ve met my true soulmate, so I can’t date you anymore. So please break up with me. I want to pretend the marriage proposal never happened.”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying! Why are you saying such things!? We loved each other so much! We said we would be happy together! Why are you saying such things? I don’t understand!!! “
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Miori…!”
“Kureya-san, you don’t have to apologize to this person so much. It’s a waste to bow your head to a woman you’re going to throw away.”
Kureya-kun apologized with a guilty expression, but that woman was next to him.
She intertwined her tiny hand with Kureya-kun’s and smiled thinly at me.
“You, you took my Kureya-kun…!”
“I’m sorry, Misaka-san. He chose me. You’re not needed anymore, and you’ve been dumped.”
“What are you saying…!?”
“Don’t you get it? Misaka-san, you really are an idiot. Well, that’s probably why you broke up with him. I’m not going to end up like you; I’m going to be happy with him. ”
The woman sneered, chuckling to herself.
The woman’s eyes, filled with incomprehensible nonsense, clearly looked down on me, and her superiority towards me oozed out of her.
(I’m going to kill her…!)
I lost my temper for a moment and felt like slapping that childish cheek of hers, but for some reason, my body wouldn’t move.
“W-Why…!?”
“Well then, Mio, we should get going.”
“You can just stay there by yourself forever. I’m sure someone else will come along to bother you. You’re so popular, I’m jealous.”
Unable to move my legs, the two of them turned their backs on me as I desperately struggled.
Of course, they were still holding hands. No, it even seemed like they were holding each other’s hands even more tightly and deeply than before.
“W-Wait, Koya-kun!”
“Sorry, Mio. I’m going to be happy, even if it means leaving you behind.”
“II’ll never forgive you! How can you abandon me, Mio! If you go, I’ll kill you both!!!”
“Feel free to try. You can’t move, so it’ll be impossible for you to do anything.”
“You…!”
I hated it.
Koya-kun, who was trying to abandon me. The little woman standing next to him, mocking me.
I hated them both so much that I wanted to kill them both for real.
“Damn it, damn it! Move! Move, why won’t you move!?”
But my body wouldn’t move.
I tried to curse them, but their feet kept moving forward without stopping.
“Wait, Koya-kun! Don’t leave me behind!”
I reached out, but I couldn’t reach them.
No matter how much I felt, they wouldn’t stop.
“I, I really like you! Why are you trying to abandon me!”
I like you so much.
I love you so much.
I want you, and only you.
Why won’t you want me?
“Tell me you like me, Kou-kun!!!”
I love you so much.
What a terrible dream.
The moment I saw the white ceiling, I understood everything, and that was the only thing I could think to say.
It’s still early spring, but it’s not refreshing at all, and I even feel like sweat is running down my back.
“The worst…”
My first words after waking up were also a little hoarse.
My throat is parched, and everything is just the worst.
I got out of bed in a terrible mood and looked at the full-length mirror in my room. I saw my own reflection, with a very unpleasant expression on my face.
I couldn’t say I was cute at all; in fact, I looked like someone I wouldn’t want to get close to. I couldn’t help but put my hand to my forehead.
“Ugh…really…”
In my sullen mood, I clawed at my own hair.
It was so forceful that it sounded like scratching. It was a habit I sometimes did when I was in a bad mood.
I knew it wasn’t good for my hair, but sometimes I couldn’t control my emotions.
I guess it’s part of my nature, but I try not to suppress myself too much at times like this.
I’ve learned from Mio that it’s not good to bottle up stress.
After all, I’m the result of that.
And so, I stopped pulling my hair for a moment and literally dragged the pillow from the bedside to my side.
“This sucks.”
And with a thud, I punched the pillow once.
This has been my recent stress reliever.
I’ll have Maku-chan, my trusty pillow (named by me), accompany me today as well.
“This sucks, sucks, sucks.”
Thud, thud, thud.
I punched every time I uttered a word.
Each time, the memories of my dream gradually returned.
“This sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks.”
Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud.
At first, it was a happy dream. Yesterday was the worst, so I burned some aroma to change my mood and fell asleep.
The room was filled with a nice scent, and I drifted off to sleep feeling paralyzed that I would have a good dream, and that’s exactly what happened.
“Worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst.”
Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud.
He asked me to marry him, and I was happy.
I thought it would last forever.
But then that woman showed up and ruined our happiness. It was the worst, the absolute worst.
My happiness was instantly shattered.
Beniya-kun was laughing happily next to that woman.
“This sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks.”
I couldn’t forgive him for choosing another woman when I was right there.
I love Beniya-kun dearly and love him with all my heart, but I still can’t forgive him.
That’s not my happiness. I won’t allow another woman to be by his side, I just won’t.
“I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I ‘ll kill you, I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you , I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you, I won’t forgive you.”
Oh, man, why did I have to have such a dream?
The dream was the worst. Oh, but maybe I’m calming down a bit.
I guess this stress relief method really works. I’ll keep practicing it.
“I’ll never forgive that girl.”
As I thought that and continued to pound Maku-chan, I suddenly heard a whooshing sound like air escaping.
Upon hearing it, I grimaced reflexively.
“Oh no, I did it again.”
Apparently, I had broken it again.
Beads peeked out from the torn fabric and spilled out.
And thus, the seventh Mc-chan met its end.
“This stress reliever is effective, but it’s a bummer that it breaks so easily.”
Maybe choosing something a little firmer since it’s easier to hit isn’t a good idea.
I wonder if it would be better to get something made of a softer material since it breaks so easily.
But then again, it feels good to hit something firm. It’s a good way to let off steam.
“It’s a good thing today’s a holiday. I can go buy a new Mc-chan.”
I need to get a new Mc-chan today no matter what.
Having decided to replace the pillow, I got up to change my clothes and threw the now useless piece of trash into the trash can.
My pajamas were drenched in sweat and felt gross, so I thought I’d do laundry while I was at it and headed to the full-length mirror.
My face was no longer in the terrible state it had been in earlier and had returned to its usual idol-like appearance.
“…Hmm. Not bad.”
Satisfied with that, I suddenly had an idea and headed to my desk.
I yanked open the top drawer and took something out from within.
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen this.”
I stared at the red eyeglass case in my hand for a moment before opening the lid and taking out the glasses inside.
It had been since middle school that I had held these glasses with their large frames that covered half my face.
“Ugh, how ugly… How did I ever wear these, Mio? Wasn’t I embarrassed?”
I muttered my honest impressions while looking at them closely.
Honestly, they were really ugly, and if you asked me if I could walk around wearing these now, I’d say no without hesitation.
I’d be so embarrassed that I’d throw them on the ground right there. They were that bad.
Well, I’m alone right now, so I don’t have to worry about what other people think.
Still holding the ridiculously ugly glasses, I stood before the full-length mirror once more and put them on.
“Whoa…”
It wasn’t like Mio from before was there—not at all.
My vision suddenly warped, and a strange discomfort washed over me.
It felt like my brain was being directly attacked, and I quickly took the glasses off.
“Ugh, the prescription’s too strong! There’s no way I could wear these!”
I couldn’t help but get angry. The prescription was way too strong and didn’t fit me at all.
I don’t know what kind of effect body-swapping has on the human body, but my eyesight has improved so much that I’m comparable to Mio, and I can now go without glasses all the time.
I don’t even need contact lenses, let alone glasses.
That’s why I’ve kept them closed up until now, and it seems like that will continue for the foreseeable future.
“Sorry, Mio. It looks like I won’t be needing these after all.”
I put the glasses back in their case and placed them back in the drawer, slowly closing it.
“I treasure you, but I’ll do things my way.”
So please, go back to sleep once more.
I whispered that in my heart and pushed the drawer completely shut.
