IRON MAN: BROTHER DON'T CAUSE TROUBLE

Chapter 44: 44. End Of Battle, Destroyer?

John unleashed a relentless barrage of elemental attacks. His firestorm cyclone swirled violently around the beast, flames licking at its biomechanical plating and warping the metal with unbearable heat. Lightning crackled through the air, striking the Leviathan's weakened body repeatedly, while gusts of wind carved deep gashes into its monstrous form.

John refused to let up. Clenching his fists, he summoned another devastating combination—ice spikes erupted from beneath the creature, piercing through its thick hide, while molten fire rained down like meteors from above.

For five agonizing minutes, the Leviathan endured. It thrashed, screeched, and desperately tried to escape the onslaught.

Then, with one last piercing cry, its wings snapped, and its body convulsed as cracks spread across its entire structure. Its glowing eyes dimmed as the inferno consumed it from within.

John exhaled sharply, surveying the battlefield. The Leviathan was dead.

But there was no time to celebrate.

Because the Chitauri… were still coming.

---

The Avengers barely had a moment to breathe before another wave of Chitauri descended upon them, their shrill cries filling the air as they poured through the portal like an unstoppable tide.

John landed on the ruined ground beside Steve Rogers, his eyes narrowing at the endless swarm. "No end to them, huh?"

Steve tightened his grip on his shield. "Doesn't matter. We fight."

The battle resumed in full force.

Thor swung Mjolnir, summoning bolts of lightning that obliterated entire squads of Chitauri in an instant. He leaped into the fray, hammering enemies into the ground with earth-shattering force, sending broken bodies flying in all directions.

A Chitauri attempted to flank him, but with a single, furious spin, Thor hurled Mjolnir—the hammer tore through the creature's armor before returning to his grasp.

"Hulk, my friend, you are too slow," he said loudly before calling upon a mighty lightning storm, incinerating a hundred Chitauri warriors in a blinding explosion.

"ROARRRR!" Just as Thor finished speaking, he heard Hulk's angry roar.

Captain America fought with unwavering determination. Every block, every throw, every punch was executed with absolute precision.

He launched his shield into a cluster of enemies, watching as it ricocheted off their skulls before returning to his grip. A Chitauri soldier lunged at him from behind, but Steve spun, dodging at the last second before delivering a brutal uppercut that sent it sprawling.

"This is our city!" Steve shouted, rallying his teammates. "We don't give up!"

Natasha weaved between enemies with deadly grace. Twin pistols blazing, she took down Chitauri warriors with pinpoint accuracy. When her ammo ran dry, she switched to her batons, electrocuting enemies with swift, calculated strikes.

A Chitauri gunner targeted her from above, but before it could fire, she flipped onto a wrecked car, vaulted off, and drove her baton straight into its throat, sending it crashing into the ground.

"Yeah, we don't give up." she said, exhaustion visible in her eye before leaping back into the fight.

From atop a half-collapsed building, Hawkeye nocked arrow after arrow, never missing a shot. Explosive arrows, electric arrows, even an EMP-tipped one—every shot counted.

One particularly large Chitauri brute flew toward him, but with a calm breath, Clint released a single arrow. It found its mark—straight between the eyes.

"Boom," he muttered before drawing another.

Above, Tony Stark soared through the sky, weaving through enemy fire while launching missiles, repulsor blasts, and shoulder-mounted lasers at the invading army.

"Okay, guys, I'm officially calling this the worst invasion ever. Do you think pizza will still be good after the battle?" he quipped, blasting a Chitauri chariot out of the sky.

Despite his humor, he could feel the weight of the battle pressing down. There were just too many.

John stood in the middle of the battlefield. With a snap of his fingers, jagged ice erupted from the ground, impaling entire squads of Chitauri. A wave of fire followed, sweeping across their ranks and turning them to ash.

Then, he called upon the wind—hurricanes formed in the streets, sending Chitauri flying like ragdolls.

Despite his overwhelming power, even John was beginning to feel the strain. The battle had gone on for over half an hour, yet the Chitauri kept coming.

"We need to shut that portal," he muttered.

That was when Fury's voice crackled through the comms.

---

Inside the Helicarrier

Nick Fury stood before a massive screen displaying the ongoing destruction of New York. Across from him, the World Security Council appeared in holographic form, their faces grim.

"This invasion must be stopped," one councilman said.

Fury said calmly, "We're handling it."

"We have already lost too much," another voice cut in. "Deploy the nuke. End this before it spreads."

Fury slammed his fist against the console. "You can't be serious."

"This is not a discussion, Director Fury," the first councilman snapped. "A missile has already been authorized."

Without wasting a second, Fury sprinted toward the deck, reaching one of the jets just in time to stop it from launching. But the second jet—he wasn't fast enough.

Fury turned away, fury burning in his eye. "Stark. We have a problem."

---

On the Battlefield

Tony's HUD lit up with an urgent warning. Fury's voice came through, grim as ever.

"There's a nuke heading for city."

For the first time in the battle, silence fell among the Avengers.

Steve's expression darkened. "They're nuking their own city?"

Tony exhaled sharply. No time for debate.

With a burst of thrusters, he rocketed into the sky. The missile was already incoming, a fiery streak against the smoke-filled skyline.

Gritting his teeth, Tony accelerated past Mach 2 and intercepted it. His arms wrapped around the deadly warhead, his engines straining against its weight.

"This is gonna suck," he muttered before angling toward the portal, narrowly avoiding Stark Tower.

Higher. Faster.

Once inside the vacuum of space, Tony saw it—the Chitauri mothership.

With one final push, he hurled the missile forward before tumbling back toward Earth.

A moment later—

BOOOOOM!

The mothership exploded in a blinding light. The Chitauri army below convulsed, their neural link severed. One by one, they collapsed, their lifeless bodies littering the streets.

A collective sigh of relief washed over the Avengers.

John, who saw this, let out a sigh. He had been waiting for the nuke for a long time. In order to destroy the Chitauri mothership, John had been holding back from closing the portal. But now, everything could proceed as planned.

But then—

---

From the heart of New York, a swirling vortex of dark energy formed. Buildings trembled, glass shattered, and the ground split open.

Then—it appeared.

Towering at 200 meters tall, pitch-black armor gleaming, its eyes burning with an unnatural fire—the true Destroyer had arrived.

Loki stood atop a crumbling rooftop, a wicked grin stretching across his face.

"Oh, Avengers…" he whispered.

"Now the real fun begins."
