The matter to be investigated naturally revolves around the earlier rumors that seemed to be connected to Nurgle.

The destination, of course, is the underhive, a place that has hardly been mentioned so far.

It's not exactly a land of prosperity and talent, but rather a place that could be described as a living hell.

If the entire hive were to be compared to a massive tower-like toilet, where everyone is dumping waste onto those in the lower levels, then the underhive would be the cesspool at the bottom of this colossal toilet.

There, even the nobility have given up on ruling it—after all, it's rare for a noble to have the twisted desire to govern a cesspit—as long as it doesn't spill over into the lower hive, affect tax collection, or give rise to overt cults, the nobles generally couldn't care less about what happens in the underhive.

Given this, it's not hard to imagine the level of chaos in the underhive. From cultists masquerading as branches of the state religion to certain bald-headed sects, from mutants to the hive's most wanted criminals, if you're patient enough to sift through this mess, you'll eventually find the particular worm you're looking for.

Compared to the underhive, even the gangs of the lower hive seem almost friendly. At least most gang fights in the lower hive will simply and efficiently blow your head off with a single shot, rather than unleashing a horde of grotesque creatures to pin you down, sever your limbs, subject you to ultimate humiliation, and leave you to die in agony.

In fact, even the lower hive gangs have to gather a group of heavily armed, ruthless individuals before sending them into the underhive, just to ensure these people don't vanish without a trace along with whatever task they're supposed to accomplish.

And even setting aside the matter of cults, this dangerous environment alone is enough to attract Zhang Ge.

After finishing his first sentence, he continued:

Amilia and I will head to the underhive to investigate some rumors. It shouldn't take too long, so you all stay here and wait.

Yolanda naturally had no objections. After all, objectively speaking, her combat capabilities were slightly inferior to these two. Going to such a dangerous place might even end up holding them back.

However, the captain of the guard hesitated:

"The underhive is far too dangerous... Perhaps you should reconsider?"

If it were an ordinary person wanting to go to the underhive, he would simply laugh and tell them to think about their family. But if something were to happen to this person in the underhive, it would be him who'd have to think about his own family.

"Could it be more dangerous than the front lines?"

"Well..."

Alright, at least going down with him would give some of them a chance to come out alive. Those who died would still earn some reputation, sparing them the need to worry about their own aftermath.

"Very well, we will escort you into the underhive."

Hearing this, Zhang Ge said with some confusion:

"Did I not make myself clear? If you stay here and the guards come along, the target will be too large. What kind of investigation would that be?"

After saying this, he turned around and left with Amilia, informing them that he wasn't seeking their help in the first place, but merely notifying them of his whereabouts.

The guard captain wanted to chase after Zhang Ge as he turned away, but before he could even stand up, he was easily restrained by two Astra Militarum soldiers who had followed earlier.

After walking back along the path they came from and exiting through the rear door, Zhang Ge had the other soldiers stay put while he and Amilia entered the vehicle.

Once the two were seated, he didn't start the vehicle immediately, but instead said:

"It seems I have been blessed with some changes in my body. Amilia, could you turn off the power armor and help me test my strength?"

Upon hearing this, the other party showed no sign of surprise or any special reaction, as if such a blessing were the most ordinary thing for Zhang Ge. Instead, they simply extended their arm, placing it between the main and co-pilot seats, and assumed a arm-wrestling stance.

"No need to turn off the power armor, I will inform you of the results."

Zhang Ge naturally had no reason to doubt her judgment, so he also reached out his hand, placing his palm into hers.

As Amilia's countdown ended, Zhang Ge gradually increased the strength in his hand, until he exerted full force. His muscles even filled out the thick coat, revealing their contours and outlining the lines of his body.

Yet, he still couldn't move her arm in the slightest. Zhang Ge felt as if he were trying to bend a solid ceramic steel pipe.

However, Amilia nodded in approval and said:

"It can end now. Your explosive power, arm strength, and wrist strength are roughly equivalent to two-thirds of mine before I received the blessing. The blessing is generally comprehensive, so other aspects should also be within this range."

Fortunately, probably because his physical fitness was not far beyond that of an ordinary person, the enhancement brought by the blessing was not that significant, not as bad as imagined.

Two-thirds, this number may seem small, but one must remember that the comparison is with Amilia, who was previously a Sister Repentia.

It's not that every Sister Repentia is strong, but rather that the weak ones simply don't survive long; most of them die in their first battle after becoming a Sister Repentia.

After all, it's not like less clothing means higher defense. Even the Living Saint Celestine knows to wear armor. The Sisters Repentia charge forward wrapped in strips of cloth wielding melee weapons, and if the enemy's heavy gunners aren't blind, a few rounds of firepower would be enough to let the vast majority of them wash away their sins with death.

The scars and masterful swordsmanship Amilia displayed before her transformation were enough to demonstrate her worth. After all, if she weren't strong enough, she wouldn't have lived long enough to accumulate those scars and skills.

Even just based on her ability to leap 15 meters with sword and shield, two-thirds of that standard would already far exceed the limits of an ordinary person.

And this was just a momentary blessing. If it happened a few more times, Zhang Ge wouldn't dare imagine how he would die.

After completing a simple test, the vehicle started with a voice command and headed towards the entrance of the underhive as directed by Amilia.

As the distance to the entrance gradually decreased, the buildings on both sides of the road also became increasingly low-rise, showing little sign of development.

Even the most exploitative nobles and factory owners would not want the lower hive dwellers to live close to the underhive.

It doesn't matter if the employees themselves die, but if they get infected by diseases carried by the mutants that occasionally emerge from this area and then spread it to others when they return to work, the losses would be enormous.

If the industry is shut down and the employees die without being able to recruit new ones, who will make up for the lost working hours?

Therefore, with the tacit approval of the nobility, the areas surrounding the entrances to the lower hives became gathering grounds for the underhive gangs.

These volatile elements possessed sufficient force to suppress various creatures emerging from the lower hives. They could handle any incidents on their own, and even their deaths could be counted as political achievements. Moreover, it facilitated centralized management for the nobility. Just thinking about it made it a win-win situation—why wouldn't they allow it?

Of course, this also meant that the two of them would frequently encounter some harassment before arriving at their destination.
