The reason these personnel remnants managed to survive was naturally due to their position on the front lines and the intensity of the battlefield. In such circumstances, their escape was not merely a matter of luck. Most of them relied on the few available vehicles in the entire regiment to outrun relentless demons that needed no rest.

Thus, although the majority of these hundreds of individuals came from various infantry regiments, they managed to gather several Leman Russ tanks, over a dozen Chimera transports, and a dozen Sentinel walkers. Even if they were to be organized into a mechanized infantry company on the spot, it wouldn't be a problem.

After a brief negotiation between the guard captain and their superiors, these hundreds of people seamlessly joined the escort convoy, expanding its length several times over.

Soon, the convoy set off again, leaving the fortress behind, and Zhang Ge quickly understood why the propaganda had spread so rapidly to this place.

Posters and advertisements appeared before Zhang Ge's eyes, either carried by some flying objects drifting around or simply projected onto the buildings.

Seeing this, Yolanda remarked with a hint of sarcasm:

"A star, huh?"

Zhang Ge neither confirmed nor denied it. Such rapid and widespread propaganda surely aimed not only to boost his fame and stabilize morale but also to morally bind him through this method.

For an ordinary person, it would be difficult to act in a manner completely contrary to the glorious and righteous image portrayed in the propaganda, especially under such high-profile circumstances and the affirming gazes of others.

Although he was aware, Zhang Ge had no intention of engaging with these subtle provocations.

His goal had remained unchanged from the very beginning; he had no interest in political struggles with these people. The lower hive dwellers obviously wouldn't gamble their futures on mere propaganda, thus affecting the outcome of voluntary conscription.

As his thoughts flowed, the convoy led by a Leman Russ quickly arrived at the lower hive.

Upon entering the lower hive, to prevent safety risks caused by excessive crowds and disorder, there was a pre-cleared route that took a slightly longer detour, leading directly to the rear of the conscription point.

Although Zhang Ge felt this was completely unnecessary... excessive crowds? If conscription wasn't approved, would they still distribute rice, oil, and flour? People wouldn't have nothing better to do after working so hard for so long, finally getting half a day off, only to come and be tortured by the conscription process.

By then, the number of guards standing there would probably outnumber the actual applicants, but since it wasn't his problem, he didn't care.

With such thoughts in mind, they gradually approached the conscription center. From the back, it appeared to be a massive structure resembling a church—based on experience, such buildings were usually city halls or similar administrative facilities—but the rear was cluttered with various chaotic lines, and there were even a few temporary generators.

It seems the equipment's power consumption exceeded expectations? How much did they bring over, and by the way, where's my Titan?

Zhang Ge, trying to locate Olivia, looked around.

Yolanda asked in confusion:

"What are you looking for?"

"They said the Titan would meet us here, but where is it?"

"Isn't it right over there?"

Following the direction she pointed, Zhang Ge saw a building—no, it was more like a massive shrine on a scale comparable to a building.

After a careful inspection, at the base of the shrine, he noticed faintly visible tracks.

So, this thing is the transport vehicle we saw not long ago? A Mechanicus-modified ghost fire, huh?

The extravagance of this mobile shrine was beyond the imagination of ordinary people.

To give just one detail, a golden statue casually placed in a corner for decoration, upon closer inspection, was actually composed of countless even smaller golden statues. Even those, perhaps no larger than a fingernail, were not solid.

Instead, like nested spheres, they were formed by thousands of layers of hollowed-out, intricately carved scenes, each layer depicting different epics. Because the shape wasn't a perfect sphere, the craftsmanship required was several times more challenging than the already extremely difficult nested spheres.

It's hard to imagine what kind of technological craftsmanship could produce such a marvel in such a short time. What's more, this marvel was merely a temporary transport tool for the Titan.

As the vehicle approached, the perspective shifted, revealing Olivia inside... and a large group of priests bowing before her. It was estimated that any one of them outranked Yolanda by a significant margin.

Looking at Olivia, Zhang Ge found it inconvenient to communicate with her remotely since Yolanda was sitting beside him, so he simply nodded in acknowledgment.

Of course, Olivia had already noticed him and responded with a nod of her own.

However, for some reason, the backs of the priests performing the ritual seemed to become even more devout after the Titan's nod of greeting.

Perhaps it was out of politeness.

After parking, Zhang Ge saw a man ahead who was being stopped and waving both hands to signal. He was dressed like an administrative staff member.

That man had been sent by the nobility to greet Zhang Ge and explain the situation.

Originally, the guards recognized him and were about to let him through, but the Astra Militarum didn't care who he was. They bluntly informed him that if he approached closer than two arm lengths or made any attempt to reach for or press something—any dangerous move—he would be treated as an attacker.

It wasn't until Zhang Ge stepped forward that the Astra Militarum ahead made an opening. As Zhang Ge was about to pass through, two stern-faced Astra Militarum soldiers followed, taking the positions originally held by the guards and keeping everyone else behind.

Of course, Zhang Ge, who was now facing the man, didn't notice this. Instead, he asked:

"What have you been portraying me as?"

The man seemed to have anticipated this question. After glancing at the soldiers beside Zhang Ge and confirming they didn't seem intent on shooting him just for putting his hands down, he replied:

"Which version would you like to hear?"

"There are different versions?"

"Oh, usually we release a relatively reliable official statement, but at the same time, we spread multiple... more artistic yet detached-from-reality rumors. Once these rumors quickly circulate, we issue a stern refutation."

He paused to catch his breath, likely organizing his thoughts, and soon continued:

"After the refutation, the public soon takes the initiative to learn about these rumors through various channels and becomes deeply convinced of those originally hard-to-believe tales."

"...Let's start with the most widely circulated ones."

"Sure, the most widespread one is that Colonel Zhang Ge was an angel sent by the Emperor. In the battle against the great enemy, although he inflicted heavy damage on the enemy forces, his entire regiment was annihilated, and he himself unfortunately perished. However, seven days and nights later, a passing Titan discovered Colonel Zhang Ge's grave."

At this point, he paused again and looked around to make sure there were no members of the Mechanicus nearby. Only after confirming this did he continue:

"The Titan sensed Colonel Zhang Ge's experiences and shed a tear on the land where he was buried. It was this Titan's tear that resurrected Colonel Zhang Ge seven days after his death, and he was to join the Titan in completing his unfinished mission—to defeat the great enemy.

The second one is..."

"Stop, no need to continue."

You guys really know how to spin a tale.
