Chapter 50: Chapter 46- Sparring Hearts
"I can't believe you actually showed up here." Gojo laughed as he opened the hotel room door for Sachiko. Sachiko sent a glare towards him and said, "You're the one who sent the address. Seriously...I thought you'd be a gentleman and at least take me out for dinner but apparently no.."
Gojo shrieked, "I was going to, alright? I was just being considerate by booking a room in advance so you can have somewhere to put your luggage and not have to carry it around for dinner. Where do you find someone as considerate as me?"
Sachiko crossed her arms, not one bit convinced by his so called courtesy. "So, you booked a suite on 21st floor with a balcony and tinted windows just for me to put my luggage? Are you sure there's no ulterior motives behind, Satoru?"
Gojo paused, then grinned, "Well, the bathtub also fits two people.. and that red chair over there..."
"Yeah, no, I can see that's a sex chair." Sachiko sighed, "And you expect me to believe there's no ulterior motives involved?"
"I mean we haven't really met in a while so I got us a nice room." Gojo said.
"For hooking up?" Sachiko rolled her eyes.
Gojo chuckled, "What do you mean hook up? I think we're a little past that, aren't we?"
"Like?"
"Come on! We always text and we have meaningful conversations!" Gojo defended.
"Complaining about the principal of your Jujutsu school and higher ups isn't meaningful conversation."
"But we also talk about our work stuff.. I mean it's mainly me but.."
"You mean complain about your work schedule and business trips?" Sachiko asked with a teasing smile.
"Hey, that's a valid reason to complain!" Gojo shrieked.
"True.." Sachiko nodded, "Still, doesn't mean meaningful conversations."
"You called me on the phone and cried about the ending of a movie." Gojo added.
"That's because you recommended that as a comedy movie while it was actually a god damn sad movie. Like why did the dog have to die instead of the stupid family?" Sachiko defended.
Gojo laughed, "I know, but the way you were crying on the phone, oh god, that was pretty funny."
"That's it, I'm booking a different hotel." Sachiko said.
"Wait, sugar." Gojo was still laughing but he coughed a few times to stop when he saw that she was getting up and getting her bags. "I was just joking. Surely, you can take a few jokes."
"I'm going to punch you in the face one of these days.." Sachiko muttered but sat back down. "And maybe I'll pin you down on the ground and punch your face."
Gojo grinned, "Actually, you can pin me down on the bed and sit on my face instead."
"..."
"So? You gonna sit on my face? or?"
"I'm going to punch you." Sachiko muttered.
"Come on, are you really going to damage my handsome face?"
"Yes," Sachiko replied, making Gojo shriek.
"Sugar, you're so cruel. I've missed you so much yet you treat me like this..." Gojo sounded as if he was wronged.
Sachiko huffed, having a hard time believing Gojo actually meant the missing her part. "Are you sure you're not missing something else?"
"I mean I missed it but I missed you too! Didn't you also miss me, sugar?" Gojo cupped her cheeks and asked.
"No?" Sachiko shook her head, then saw that Gojo was staring into her eye and since he was wearing the sunglasses instead of the blindfold, his piercing blue eyes were staring into her soul.
"You know I can tell when you're lying..."
Sachiko looked away, "I wasn't lying."
"Wrong answer, come here." Gojo suddenly pulled her into his arms and Sachiko quickly found herself in his embrace.
"Wh..what do you mean wrong answer?"
"You missed me." Gojo stated.
"Maybe..?"
"Still, not a correct answer." Gojo said and soon, Sachiko found that she got lost in an another intense adventure with him.
-------------
"I can't believe you didn't take me out on dinner first." Sachiko complained as Gojo stopped the car at a 24 hour ramen restaurant. "Now, my favorite restaurants are closed."
Gojo chuckled, "Sorry about that. But can you blame me?"
Sachiko said seriously, "Actually yes, I can, Satoru."
Gojo shrieked, making a face as if he was wronged, "Come on, you were a willing participant too!"
"Yeah, but you started it so it's different." Sachiko stuck her tongue out, clearly justifying her actions.
Gojo pouted, "What kind of logic is that?"
"It's called Sachiko logic, of course." Sachiko replied, "Now, hurry up. I'm starving."
Gojo put his hands up in defeat, his face was smiling in amusement as he opened the door of the restaurant, "After you, my sugar."
"God, that's so cringe." Sachiko complained but she had a smile on her face as well. As they sat down at a table together, she could see that Gojo was in a good mood as well by the way he smiled and hummed.
She ordered a spicy miso ramen while Gojo ordered a Tonkotsu ramen and a couple soft drinks. Again, he was a huge sweet tooth so Sachiko wasn't sure what she was expecting. The meal was as pleasant as it goes for a late night restaurant option, quite flavorful and filling but not in the same way her favorite ramen restaurant would.
After the meal, they stopped by at a convenience store because again, Gojo wanted actual desserts after dinner and Sachiko also "reluctantly" got ice-cream for dessert before going back to the hotel room.
"Seriously, you're eating ice-cream at this weather?"
"What do you mean? Ice cream is good all the time." Sachiko defended. The outdoor temperature might be 6 degrees but Sachiko didn't think eating ice cream had anything to do with the temperature.
"And vanilla ice cream? What're you? A little child?" Gojo teased.
"Says the one who's eating a mochi and children snacks." Sachiko said.
"But they're delicious!" Gojo replied.
"Vanilla ice cream is delicious too." Sachiko said.
"Hm, let me try that." Gojo said.
"Oi, Satoru, don't you dare take a big bite..!"
Before Sachiko could finish her sentence, Gojo proceeded to take a big spoonful of ice cream and put it into his mouth. Seeing the ice cream was almost half gone after the spoonful, murderous aura emitted from Sachiko.
Gojo laughed as if it didn't affect him and Sachiko felt like she would actually punch him sooner or later.
----------------
The next day, they finally got to the business Sachiko came to Tokyo for, which was for Gojo to help her with hand-to-hand combat. Gojo actually took her to his place with a training room for the training and Sachiko was actually beaten up quite a few times.
Sachiko complained about Gojo throwing her across the room and making her land on her back several times but Gojo justified his actions as tough love or strict training. While Sachiko knew it made sense to be serious about training, it didn't mean she was happy about being beaten up or getting thrown across the room or walls.
She, however, had to admit the effectiveness. After a few days of that hellish training section, it levelled up to Advanced Beginner and she estimated that if she could follow the same training for the remaining two months, she could level it up to Competent before her fight with Hisoka. So, she decided to keep it up before she went back to Hunter x Hunter world.
"Come on, sweetcheeks. You're holding yourself back again." Gojo said as he blocked one of Sachiko's attacks and pushed her back. "See, you can exert more force and your movements can be a lot swifter."
"It's easy for you to say that." Sachiko replied as she prepared for another charge.
Gojo chuckled, "What can I say? I'm just too talented."
"You and your ego." Sachiko said in a sarcastic tone, "You're having too much fun breaking my bones."
"Well..you can think of it as a training so that you'd still have bones to break in the future. I mean if you lose your limbs, you can't break bones in them anymore..." Gojo said half jokingly but paused when he remembered what happened to Sachiko at the abandoned hospital because of a prank gone wrong.
Sure, she got her hand healed up but still, he felt a sting in his heart imagining that scene again.
"I...uh..mean that you should pay attention to your training so you don't suffer in the future." He said, after his uncharacteristic silence for a while.
"....I'd hit you if I could." Sachiko said, referring to the previous comment about missing limbs. "Only if I could bypass that stupid infinity,..."
Gojo was silent for a while, then he asked with a smile which made Sachiko unsure if he was serious or not, "You know I control which and who bypass infinity. So, if you ask nicely, maybe I'd let you through. What'd you say? Would you want that, sweetcheeks?"
Uncertain if it was one of his another ruses to get her reaction, Sachiko wanted to ignore it. Yet, she found herself flustered, and it was difficult not to be, with Gojo being not even half a meter away from her and the way he stared into her soul as he talked.
"Umm...you gotta have infinity around you, right? Like we don't even know each other that well..." Sachiko forced the words out. Frankly, she had no idea why exactly she replied in that way but she didn't want to entertain other answer.
Why was her heart beating so fast when he was close to her or why did she feel the urge to say yes to his question? Why did she want him to let her bypass his infinity?
Surely, she was just physically attracted to him..like he was...
Her thoughts were taken back to reality as she heard Gojo chuckle. It was different, devoid of usual playfulness and fun. It was almost a little dark, but Sachiko didn't want to think about it too much.
Soon, the training session was over and Sachiko excused herself for a hot bath and rest, leaving Gojo in the room.
As Sachiko left and once he was alone, Gojo laughed again, to himself.
"Wasn't even joking this time." He muttered. "Thought we got closer during this time..but apparently not." He shook his head.
