Chapter 25: Voting Results and Sachiko's Personality Analysis?
So, the next chapter is going to be about Sachiko's nen category. According to the votes, Sachiko being able to use all types at 100% (Option 5) has the most votes with Transmuter and Manipulator (Option 4) being a close second. So..I guess I'll give Sachiko potential to use all types at 100%.
That said, she'll still have a main Category or two. As I want Sachiko's nen type to fit her Personality and such, I kinda need help in that. I'll reference on both official summary and the analysis I found on Reddit and add my opinion at the end so help me out a bit? (I know this is kinda like another voting but I also want to know some outsider opinions on Sachiko's Personality and what category should she belong in according to her personality.)
First,
1.Transmuter
Official Summary: Transmuters are whimsical and prone to deceit. Transmutation users have unique attitudes, and many are regarded as weirdos or tricksters. Often they put forth a facade while hiding the truer aspects of their personalities. Even when they don't hide their personalities they rarely reveal their true intentions. Many Transmuters rely on techniques that give unique and unpredictable properties to their Nen that reflects their personalities.
Core Traits: (i)Desire - The most notable facet of all Transmuters seems to be their strong desires. Transmuters tend to see their desires as something to chase as long as the desire remains. Once the desire changes, they have no problem throwing away ones they once held close to.
(My opinion is Sachiko has a strong desire to become the strongest because she believes she can only be free to do whatever she likes that way. Refer to Swindler's Swamp where she made the conclusion on that. Sachiko also found Killua to be a little brother figure, leading to adopting him on a whim. As for throwing away part, Sachiko has yet to reach to a point yet but let's just say she's whimsical and her desires can change.)
(ii)Existential Crisis - Transmuters paint a somewhat tragic picture in that one of their core motivations is, in fact, a deep-seated fear. Transmuters possess an ever-changing, inconstant nature that .I believe drives straight to the root of their very being. A Transmuter, more so than any other type, is a slave to their nature.
(This much is kinda true for Sachiko as her desire to become stronger was driven by her fear of losing her freedom if she's weak.)
Other traits : Manipulation - As transmuters are driven by their desires, they are prone to lie and manipulate others to receive their desired outcomes. Refer to Hisoka, Bisky and Killua.
(Sachiko also sees no problem in lying, deceiving or even manipulating in order to get what she wants. Refer to her disguising herself to look like a sister of Zushi, finding herself a way to meet Wing in the most natural way possible and leading him to believe she just wants to teach two young hunters Nen while she wanted information mainly for herself. Not to mention, she resorted to spying when she failed to get information she wanted out of Wing.)
Recklessness - Transmuters, due to their never-ending quest of hedonism can be prone to placing themselves in disadvantageous situations. The pursuit of a desire can lead them to make rash decisions.
(Sachiko faced Geto Suguru after a whimsical desire to protect Misaki, almost leading to her death. Similar situation happened with Illumi as her adopting Killua on a whim led to becoming Illumi's enemy.)
(Overall : Sachiko shows potential to be a transmuter although desire is not everything that drives her forward. Refer to the next category, Manipulator.)
2. Manipulator
Official Summary: Manipulators are logical people who advance at their own pace. They are all for arguments and tend to want to keep their families and loved ones safe. On the other hand, when it comes to pursuing their own goals, they do not listen to what others might have to say about it. While manipulators often use techniques that allow them to control their opponents they also prefer to use an inanimate medium to control that can be used versatility (such as smoke or pieces of paper hardened with Shu).
(Sachiko has the mindset of doing one things at a time, which in her definition, is her own pace. No one can rush her or order her around if she simply isn't feeling like it and she doesn't care about others' opinions. Refer to her wanting to adopt Killua as her brother and not caring about what others, including Killua say about it.
Fun fact: The reason System refers to Killua as her adopted brother is because to Sachiko, Killua is her brother the moment she decides him to and she doesn't consider outsider's opinion.)
Core Traits: Assertiveness - The only way a person can display true assertiveness is if that person believes they are right. It's natural to be confident when you know you're doing what's right, and it's natural to be forceful when you know others are doing wrong.
Manipulators choose to progress at their own pace because at their deepest core they believe they know the best pace to progress at. To dig a bit deeper: the statement implies ownership, it is their own pace. They are the owner of this pace,it is theirs alone and no others; because they believe they know what is best for them and don't need to follow anyone else's pace or example.
Following this we see Manipulators are said to be argumentative, and the reason for that is they truly deeply believe they're right. This leads to controlling behaviors as they're convinced that they know the best for their loved ones. Manipulators are said to ignore others regarding their own goals. This simply reiterates the point that Manipulators truly believe themselves to know what's best and thus simply see no need to consider another person's input.
(In Sachiko's case, she had a whimsical desire to adopt Killua as her brother
and went to conclude that what she wanted was naturally right. This led her to not even caring if Killua. wants it or not and declaring herself as his sister. The thought of asking never even truly crossed her mind as she subconsciously assumed she had every right to do so.
Many of her behaviors also come down to her assuming she owns the pace, thus she is free to do whatever she wants whenever she wants, be it annoying people or deceiving them to get what she wants. Refer to her antics during the exams. Other people's opinions don't truly matter and she doesn't care if she's right or wrong because there's no need to do so when she knew she was right.
Sachiko was also shown to be deeply annoyed by Gon's unwillingness to give up during final phase of Hunter exam, (Refer to her complaining it to Killua) because he was troublesome. and things were not going her way with him.
Fun fact: Sachiko also secretly has a tendency to be overprotective if she was close to someone enough, even going as far as mainpulating them so that they will walk on the path she deems better for them. Oops, a bit of a spoiler but if you read my other jjk fanfic, it's really not?)
Control - The Manipulator's confidence that they are right directly correlates to their desire to force the world to bend to their will. A Manipulator seeks in some way or the other to control their loved ones because they believe if their loved ones are allowed free reign they will get themselves hurt. Only the Manipulator knows what's right so only the Manipulator should be allowed to make decisions.
(Overall : I think manipulator also somehow suits her even though her whimsical nature and desires cannot be fully explained by this.)
3.Enhancers
Official Summary:Enhancers are determined and simple. Most of them never lie, hide nothing, and are very straightforward in their actions or in their thinking. Their words and actions are often dominated by their feelings. They are generally very selfish and focused on their goals. This is reflected in their Nen as enhancers typically rely on simple and uncomplicated Hatsu techniques.
(My opinion: While Sachiko is selfish and all, she doesn't really have a concrete goal in her mind other than becoming stronger. Along with her nature to lie and mess around, she is not an enhancer.)
Core Traits:(i) Selfishness- ultimately their goals, desires, and beliefs are centered around themselves. For example, Gon risking his own life multiple times without thinking what his friends might feel because his desire to become a hunter and find his dad is stronger and his goals centered around himself and not others.
(My opinion: While Sachiko is selfish and all, she's more like apathetic kind of selfish as opposed to Gon's example. She will not likely die a meaningless death even if it centers around her goals and beliefs, that is if she had one to start with.)
(ii)Straightforward - Enhancers also tend to be very straightforward in their way of thinking.
(My opinion : Sachiko is not very straightforward even if she seems to be fooling around and has a laid back attitude. Refer to her lying about her origins to Gon and his family, tricking Tonpa to drink his own juice, tricking the prisoner to finish a match during Trick Tower, stealing Illumi's badge and plotting his elimination during phase four of Hunter exam, and a bit of plotting to get information on nen out of Wing and such.)
(iii)Stubbornness - Closely related to their selfishness, is the Enhancer's unyielding stubborn streak. Enhancers, more so than the other types, are inclined to assume they are right and thus stubbornly insist on doing things their way.
(Again, Sachiko doesn't really think if she's right or wrong. Most of the times, she doesn't even care so she can't be stubborn in a way enhancers do. Also, she has no problems abandoning something if she sees nothing good for her so there's that. If you're wondering, refer to her running from Suguru when her life is in danger and not feeling shame or anything negative.)
(Overall opinion : Sachiko can't be an enhancer.)
4. Emiiter.
Official Summary: Emitters are impatient, not detail-oriented, and quick to react in a volatile manner. Many of them are quick-tempered and hot-blooded. They resemble the Enhancers in building their impulsivity, but the difference with them, they probably tend to calm down and forget easier. Because of the nature of Emission, many Hatsu techniques created by emitters are primarily long range.
(Despite her being whimsical and such, she's not one to be hot-blooded or easy to forget.)
Core Traits: Volatility - One of the most obvious indicators of an Emitter is their exceptionally volatile nature.
Emotion - The direct cause of the characteristic volatility Emitters display is tied to their overwhelming emotions. Emitters are more in tune, and more subject to their emotions than any of the other types.
(Despite having an overprotective side, Sachiko doesn't really give of the characteristics of an emitter that much so I'm gonna rule it out.)
5. Conjurer.
Official Summary: Conjurers are typically high-strung or overly serious and stoic. They are often on guard as to be cautious. They are very observant and logical, rarely falling into traps. Being able to analyze things calmly is the strength of Conjurers. Many of the items that conjurers create are often used by them in a very deliberate and practical, logical fashion.
(I don't really think Sachiko is that serious and cautious so this one is also out .)
6. Specialist
Official Summary: Specialists are individualistic and charismatic. They won't tell you anything important on them, and refrain from being close friends, but, because of their natural charisma that draws others, they are always surrounded by many people. Because Specialization is unique and can have many facets, most Specialists possess only one Hatsu technique.
Fixation : If one were to find themselves so fixated, so overwhelmingly obsessed with something, have the necessary aptitude, and lack the necessary Hatsu potential then their Nen would become Specialist to help them create a Hatsu most suited to their new fixation.
(Personally, I'd think of Sachiko to be able to become a specialist mainly because of her obsession with being the strongest. But, I don't think she'd be a natural specialist as she was has tendencies to be overprotective while being independent most of the times. She also has charisma which leads people in, refer to interview with Netero, many were drawn by her for different reasons. So, I'm not too sure on that.)
Okay, this ends my analysis. So, which category should Sachiko mainly belong in? And if you want to add some traits according to your understanding of Sachiko, don't hesitate to comment it. I really want to know your opinions on her character.
I personally think Manipulator suits her better but I'm not sure between that and Transmuter.
