Chapter 112: Thunder Strike
Clara had a plain expression, yet Theo could tell that something was on her mind.
The ape just scratched its back and made a light sound once before it calmly sat on its hind.
It looked toward the forest a lot as if rearing to go there. On the other hand, the eagle was persistently looking everywhere.
Theo found it hard to understand what it was trying to do.
Near the carriage, the calf also came to Bram's side and snuggled.
Bram just hugged it with affection and patted its head while looking at Theo as if waiting for some instructions.
"We will go to one of the clearings that I frequented before. There are always a lot of slimes there. And with the size of your beast, I think it will be alright to target multiple at once," Theo spoke and opened the box's lid that was in his hand. The next second, a silhouette hopped out of the box and sat on Theo's shoulder.
Bram's attendant and he looked at the mantis with surprise. It had been a while since he had seen it.
"Is mantis bigger again, Theo?" Bram asked with widened eyes as he tried to make out the height.
"I see it every day, so I can't really tell. But if you noticed it, then it might just have increased in size, elder brother," Theo spoke and looked at the mantis up close.
It was cleaning its sharp forelegs even though they were already clean enough. The moss on its body had a bright green luster now, after the level up of the 'regenerative moss' skill.
It was the very reason that its camouflage had improved so drastically in such a small duration.
"Let's go now, Clara, if you will," Theo spoke with a smile, and Clara nodded.
From her forehead, two lights came and went to the ground.
Both the boar and the pup were with them now, and after they looked around and observed the newcomers with them, they quickly went to Theo and guarded him instantly.
Bram's attendant looked at it with a light surprise and quickly gave a mental command too. The eagle moved for the first time by hopping on the ground, while the ape just moved normally toward Bram and stood by his side.
When Theo looked at this, he smiled toward Clara, who understood what he meant. She only shook her head, yet a smile crept on her face too.
They all started moving inside the lush forest. The pup had moved faster than them to confirm if there really were slimes in that clearing they were traveling to.
After a few seconds of travel, Clara finally got some information. "There are 5 moss slimes in that clearing, young master."
"Good, are you ready, elder brother?"
"Yes!" Bram shouted, and his attendant quickly whispered something in his ears. He nodded profusely after that, and Theo did not see him shout anytime again.
When they finally reached near the clearing, Theo felt a slight emotion from the mantis, and he quickly told him that it was not its prey this time.
The mantis was reluctant, yet it just kept seated on his shoulder.
"Would you like to try fighting them on your own first, or would you like me to take care of some first and you try with one, elder brother?" Theo asked Bram, who looked in thought for a second.
He saw the silhouette of the slimes once and then at his beast.
"I think… I should let it fight on its own first."
"That's great. I will send my mantis with you for backup. It will not let the Ox get hurt," Theo said, and the mantis hopped.
It looked at the Ox once, and Theo gave a protective mental command to not hurt the Ox if that was on its mind.
Yet the mantis just started moving toward the clearing, and the Ox calf bobbed its head down and moved with it.
"What skills does it have, elder brother?"
"First is thunder strike, and the other is charge," Bram spoke slowly while confirming it in his status.
"Thunder strike? That's nice." Theo wanted to whistle, yet he refrained. It wasn't very noble-like.
"Ahahaha, it sounds cool, but at its level, it can only bring out light sparks from that skill," Bram stated with embarrassment while looking at the Ox, who had finally entered the clearing.
"Keep your head up, elder brother," Theo spoke the last time while making serious eye contact with pride. "That skill is strong, and it now only depends on you just how strong it can be…"
Bram looked at him for a few seconds and then nodded with a smile.
The Ox slowly entered the clearing and looked at the slimes with vigilance. It moved its head forward to sniff the ground and suddenly, it took a bite off the large grass patch to the side.
Theo looked at the situation and almost burst out laughing. It was eating grass at this crucial time?
Bram's expression showed embarrassment, and he quickly seemed to give a mental command to the calf.
Only then did it finally look back up with its mouth moving left to right and repeat.
Clara looked at Theo once and smiled without Theo noticing. It seemed another glutton had finally arrived to compete with the mantis.
While the mantis was nowhere to be seen, Theo told it to keep near the calf and attack when it was instructed.
The calf moved forward, and Theo observed Bram, who was concentrating hard. It was the first time Theo had seen him so focused.
The slimes had already started toward the calf, and when the calf moved two more big steps, it had already covered all the distance the slimes were trying so hard to cover.
Theo looked at it with focus too. In his mind, the calf wasn't going to do very well as it looked inexperienced.
But then he saw a light crackle of energy between its small horns.
Theo's eyes widened. Bram was making it use its ability right away.
Suddenly, a line of electric energy first interacted with each other after leaving the two horns and then shot forward so fast that it only lasted a second.
Theo watched the slimes on the ground, wondering if something even happened to them.
But one thing was clear—even the weakest beasts had such amazing skills, and Theo couldn't help but chuckle lightly. There was a long way for him to go.
