Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 926: Missing piece
While Rain was flying toward the mountains in the continent again, in the place that once divided the territories between the magic people and the dragons, he kept thinking about what he should do. He had to get rid of the ice dragons without alerting the others nearby since they will alert each other.
He also had to make sure that the snowstorm wouldn't lose power since that would alert the dragon god.
"Around four months have passed since I returned, I don't think that I didn't get even closer to finding a way to defeat him," Rain thought. "I guess that simplicity works the best for me, but I still don't have a single simple technique that I am sure that he wouldn't be able to counterattack."
Realizing the challenges and work surrounding his quest to find the ice dragons and the capital of the dragons, Rain contemplated another strategy - one that involved a tactical approach and the utilization of a widespread disguise method.
Considering the demi humans' capability to conceal their territory using a barrier that displayed a consistent and unchanging image to outsiders, Rain realized the potential in employing a similar technique on a larger scale.
His plan involved enveloping the entire world within a barrier that presented a constant and unvarying external appearance to anyone observing it from the outside… it was almost insane.
This widespread illusionary barrier would effectively mask the true events occurring within the world, projecting an image that remained unchanged and undisturbed. Meanwhile, behind this facade, Rain would unleash a strategic onslaught against the ice dragons - a relentless and calculated assault aimed at confronting and incapacitating the threat they posed once and for all.
"You can also transform them into relics and make them keep the snowstorm active," The woman in the darkness said. "That way, no one will realize anything."
"There isn't much point in that since the relics will also have the corrupt power of the dragons and Rain doesn't want to use that," Larisa said.
"He doesn't have to use the corrupt power, he can try to separate them," The woman in the darkness said.
"... That should be possible, but not very realistic since we don't have any idea how that can be done," Larisa said after considering that for a moment. "Even purifying someone like Nigel takes a lot of time… Rain's skills are impressive, but will that be enough to separate their natural power from their essence?"
The woman in the darkness didn't reply… she gave the idea, but she had no idea on how to pull that off either. Rain began to think how he could do that… Isa, Nigel and the woman in the darkness did something similar to obtain the power of the dragons as humans, but even so, without their memories, their ideas were limited.
Rain thought that perhaps he could find a way to materialize the power of his skills, he would lose them, so he had to experiment with only one at a time, but that should give him insights on how to do that with the dragons. When he finally was able to see those mountains after traveling for one week, Rain had no idea how to pull that off.
"This is bothersome… but this could also help me find a way to surpass the system," Rain thought. "I thought of this many times and every single time it happens, the system manages to absorb the knowledge of what I came up with and turn it into a skill."
It felt like things were going to repeat themselves, but Rain couldn't give in to hope yet. Regardless, it seemed like a difficult task to do that with his current skill level, so that will have to wait.
"For now, I should find another way to keep the snowstorm going after I kill the dragons… or turn them into relics," Rain said.
"Don't let them stay here, it will be too cramped," Larisa said.
"You aren't even paying rent, how do you have the nerve to demand that from me?" Rain frowned.
In the end, Rain didn't have to think a lot to find a solution, he already had the skills necessary to pull that off. First of all, Rain had to turn the dragons into a gem, equip the gem into something alongside one of his Meditation Mastery rings and let their mana overflow… that should keep the area around them colder… perhaps they wouldn't even need the ring after all.
"The only problem is that the gem and the relic could be stolen and that would be a problem… even hiding them underground will be difficult given that they will emit a lot of energy," Rain thought.
While Rain was thinking about that, half a day had passed… At first, he didn't realize that, but since his domain protected him from the cold, he eventually realized that things were getting messy outside when even his domain began to feel cold.
"They aren't messing around… the amount of mana being released is insane," Larisa said.
"It almost feels like they want to freeze the entire world," Nigel said.
"They wouldn't do since the fire dragons have to be here," Larisa said.
"What if they aren't?" Nigel asked. "If the dragon god can live on Saturn, why can't we accept that the other dragons could have moved as well in the last one hundred years to other planets?"
A sudden realization struck him after hearing that. It was like a missing puzzle piece falling into place, providing a crucial insight that had escaped him until that moment. His mind was so busy that he never confirmed the reason for it...
Recalling a past event from one hundred years ago, when he investigated the beast people's territory during a dragon invasion, Rain's mind swiftly connected the dots. He remembered discovering peculiar craters at the sites where the dragons and the beast people clashed. Initially, he had dismissed these craters as oddities caused by the intense battles between the two factions…
