Chapter 5: Match Ending and Aftermath
The match resumed, and Nozomi took the kickoff for Okawa. Ishikawa could be seen running down Raimon's right flank, evading the Raimon players with ease. He was exhilarated at how much running space he was given, until something unexpected happened.
The ball was taken from him via a slide tackle by a Raimon player. Not Tsurugi, neither Akira nor Shun. The ball was stolen by Hashiri Kame, a Raimon full-back positioned on their right flank. He immediately stood up after the tackle, recovering his composure quickly.
"Hashiri-kun?!" Sawaegara exclaimed, shocked at Hashiri's actions.
"I don't know what happened! My body... It just moved!" Hashiri exclaimed, looking just as surprised as everyone else.
His short stature could be seen running through Raimon's right flank. He eventually encountered Okawa's right wing, Nozomi.
"You won't get past me!" Nozomi exclaimed, determined to stop Hashiri.
"Hashiri-kun, I'm open!" Shun exclaimed, noticing an opportunity.
Hashiri turned around before glancing at Shun and immediately passing. Shun trapped the ball with ease and ran forward some more before making a diagonal back pass to Akira. A wide smile could be seen on Shun's face, 'Are they finally starting to realize?' Shun thought.
"Shun!" Akira exclaimed before receiving the ball at his feet.
"Shun!" Akira looked forward to see who was calling out to him. He noticed Tsurugi upfront making eye contact with a determined face. Akira was unsure whether to pass or not. He was unable to trust Tsurugi, who just showed up out of nowhere.
"Shun!" Akira exclaimed, seeking reassurance.
Shun nodded at Akira. "Okay, captain!" Akira exclaimed before passing to Tsurugi.
The ball headed to Tsurugi as he ran towards goal. But he encountered a defender. He stopped his run, turning around, with his back facing the defender. The ball came close to landing at his feet. Before it could, he stretched out his right foot and shot the ball forward.
The ball flew towards Raimon's goal at astonishing speed before it took a big curve and continued to circle around the pitch, heading towards Tsurugi. Tsurugi turned around very fast, giving space between him and the defender. He shot the ball, redirecting it towards Okawa's goal.
"REVOLVING DEATH SHOT!" Tsurugi exclaimed, his voice echoing across the field.
However, the defender was in the way, but the shot was powerful enough to blast the defender towards the goal as well. The defender flew towards the goal. The ball entered the net.
The scoreboard flashed once more, and the score was now 26:3, still in favor of Okawa.
"Dammit!" Ishikawa exclaimed, his face twisted in anger.
All Okawa players turned their attention towards him. They had never seen him react like this before.
Shun approached Hashiri, a smile on his face. "Hashiri! Thanks for the pass earlier!" Shun exclaimed, with tons of life in his eyes.
"Huh?" Hashiri muttered, looking surprised.
Shun's enthusiasm was infectious, and Hashiri found himself getting caught up in the moment. "Well, I still don't believe we can win this, but I'll give it my best shot," Hashiri said, somewhat embarrassed.
Shun nodded, his smile still plastered on his face. "That's the spirit, Hashiri!"
Hashiri looked towards the two first-years, Akira and Tsurugi. "Anyway, who are those two?" Hashiri asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Shun's smile faltered for a moment before he replied, "Oh, you mean Akira and Tsurugi. Well, one of them is totally inexperienced but pulled off an amazing play, while the other seems to be one of the best players on this pitch."
Hashiri raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Hmph, weird," he sneered before going back to his position.
Shun watched him go, a slight smile still on his face. "Hashiri..."
Shun turned towards Akira, a smile on his face. "Akira, great passing!"
"Thanks!" Akira exclaimed excitedly.
Shun then turned to Tsurugi, his expression serious. "Tsurugi... I don't know who you are exactly..."
Tsurugi gazed at Shun in anticipation.
"...But thank you. You were really amazing," Shun complimented.
Tsurugi gazed at Shun with a less curious expression. "Alright, I get it, I'm amazing," Tsurugi said somewhat arrogantly. "Let's just get this over with."
"Yeah!"
....
The match resumed, and the ball was currently with Ishikawa. But he didn't move. He just stood there, his eyes fixed intently on the ball.
"Guaaaaah!" Ishikawa yelled, his voice echoing across the field.
But unlike earlier, no spell seemed to affect the players. Instead, Ishikawa began to change form. His canines grew longer, his hair grew very bushy, and his eyes transformed into those of a cat's. His muscles overflowed with power, and he looked almost feral.
"Wh-what's happening?!" Akira exclaimed, everyone wandering the same thing.
Ishikawa kicked the ball up into the air, before jumping and reaching incredible heights. He kicked the ball multiple times, yet the ball stayed in the same position. Every time he struck, claw marks would appear on the ball.
He struck the ball forward this time before yelling, "GRIZZLY'S WRATH!!"
The ball flew towards the goal with tremendous power. An illusory bear appeared with the ball at its center. The bear ran right into Raimon's goal, blasting Sawaegara away.
The scoreboard flashed once more, and the score was now 27:3 in favor of Okawa.
"Hmph! Ishikawa finally performed his hissatsu!" an Okawa defender exclaimed.
"Yeah. Ishikawa!" another player exclaimed.
Sawaegara struggled to get up, his eyes wide with shock. "Such a p-powerful shot," he murmured.
Akira looked on in awe, his shock evident on his face. "No way..."
He had witnessed two powerful hissatsus in his first day at Raimon, and he wasn't even an official player yet.
"Alright, everybody!" Inoue exclaimed from a distance, "Time's up!"
She was referring to the match time - 90 minutes had elapsed.
"N-no way... we lost?" Akira said, disappointment etched on his face.
"It was expected," Tsurugi replied, his expression calm.
"Huh?" Akira questioned, looking at Tsurugi in surprise.
"Tsurugi's right," Shun replied, his voice matter-of-fact. "The match was almost over when you guys came on. There was no way for us to score over twenty more goals in that short span of time."
"Yeah. Even with my incredible skills," Tsurugi said, a hint of arrogance in his voice.
Akira and Shun inwardly felt somewhat annoyed due to his arrogance.
"W-well, I guess you're right," Akira said, a hint of disappointment in his voice.
