Chapter 8: Immortal-Grade Techniques Only Fit for Cooking?
“Primordial Spirit Enlightenment Tea!?”
“I never imagined there could be such a miraculous tea tree in this world!”
Upon hearing her master’s words, Leng Yanran was struck with awe. Even entering enlightenment could be achieved so easily. Was there anything her master couldn’t do?
“Reporting to Master, during my enlightenment, I managed to resolve all my questions.”
“However, this Primordial Spirit Enlightenment Tea is so precious… Disciple feels undeserving…”
Trying to suppress her amazement, Leng Yanran quickly responded to her master.
“That’s good to hear. As for the Primordial Spirit Enlightenment Tea, although it’s valuable, you are now my disciple, so why shouldn’t you use it?”
Chen Daoxuan chuckled lightly, then took another sip of the tea. However, he felt a bit puzzled. Why couldn’t he enter a state of enlightenment?
Though the tea was delicious and had a rich aftertaste, it seemed to lack any other mystical effects.
To Leng Yanran, however, this scene only deepened her reverence for her master.
Was it possible that even a treasure like Primordial Spirit Enlightenment Tea was unsatisfactory to him?
This sort of divine item, if placed in the outside world, would probably cause even top-tier cultivators of the Boundless Realm to fight to the death for it!
“Master, I still have a few questions that I’d like to ask.”
Seeming to remember something, Leng Yanran pushed aside her thoughts and looked at her master with renewed curiosity.
Receiving a slight nod of approval from him, she continued.
“Master, may I ask, what grade is this ‘Chaos Celestial Demon Art’ that you granted me? Could it be an Immortal-grade technique from legend?”
She had long suspected this while cultivating the Chaos Celestial Demon Art.
Currently, cultivation techniques are divided into four grades: Heavenly, Earth, Profound, and Yellow, each further divided into upper, middle, lower, and supreme levels.
From what she knew, even the most advanced cultivation sanctuaries only possessed techniques that reached upper-middle Heavenly-grade.
The technique she originally cultivated was a lower Earth-grade technique passed down through the Leng family for generations. And even with that, she had become the foremost prodigy in the Moro Kingdom!
Yet, when cultivating the Chaos Celestial Demon Art, she felt clearly that it was beyond the Heavenly-grade, possibly even a legendary Immortal-grade technique!
“Immortal-grade?”
“Not quite.”
Chen Daoxuan was slightly taken aback, then shook his head in denial.
Leng Yanran sighed inwardly. It seemed she was overthinking things.
How could there be an Immortal-grade technique in this world—and that she, of all people, would have the chance to learn it?
It was likely just a top-tier Heaven-grade technique.
“This Chaos Celestial Demon Art is of the mythic-grade. Immortal-grade techniques are merely good for cooking. How could they possibly compare to the Chaos Celestial Demon Art?”
Chen Daoxuan continued, half to himself.
Though he wasn’t entirely sure how much stronger the mythic-grade was compared to the Immortal grade, he knew they weren’t on the same level at all!
“My-mythic-grade…”
“Immortal-grade techniques are only good for cooking!?”
Leng Yanran’s eyes widened, her lips slightly parted, as if her entire understanding of the world was crumbling.
If Immortal-grade techniques were only fit for cooking, then didn’t that mean the Heavenly-grade techniques treasured by the great sanctuaries were only fit for… bathroom use?
And as for her family’s lower Earth-grade technique, it would be insulting to use it even for cleaning the filthiest mess!
“Yes… Disciple understands!”
“Master, your kindness and grace are beyond measure; I have no way to repay you!”
After snapping out of her awe, Leng Yanran immediately prostrated herself before her master.
To her, Master’s request would be sacred; she would comply, even at the cost of her life.
After all, a technique surpassing the Immortal grade was worth far more than her mere existence!
“Rise, no need to kneel at every turn,” Chen Daoxuan remarked, helping her up again with a helpless smile. “I do not place much emphasis on such formalities.”
He looked away abruptly as he caught a glimpse he hadn’t intended to see.
“Master, I noticed the words ‘Heavenly Dao’ inscribed above the hall. Is that the name of our sect?”
Chen Daoxuan paused, a little taken aback.
He had never even thought about naming his sect, considering he’d been a lone cultivator until now.
But at her suggestion, Heavenly Dao Hall did sound impressive, so he went along with it.
“Yes, this is the Heavenly Dao Hall,” he replied, nodding.
“‘Heavenly Dao Hall’—truly fitting for a sect founded by Master, named after the Dao itself!”
With a deep breath, Leng Yanran silently vowed to bring fame and glory to Heavenly Dao Hall, to honor her master’s investment in her.
They talked briefly after that. Following her master’s instructions, Leng Yanran finished the last of her Primordial Spirit Enlightenment Tea, entering enlightenment once more. This time, her enlightenment lasted a full day.
Upon awakening, her cultivation level had risen to the second layer of the Profound Sky Realm!
Chen Daoxuan, after inspecting her, found her foundation stable and without any hidden risks.
As a bonus, he also received 100 years of cultivation and 100 exchange points.
“Thank you, Master!”
Leng Yanran opened her eyes slowly, gazing at her master with pure reverence.
Since joining her master’s sect, it had been only two days, yet she had transformed from a mere Void Sky Realm, Fourth Heaven cultivator, to her current standing in the second layer of the Profound Sky Realm.
She even had the distinct feeling that, with her new level of power, she might be able to transcend realms and slay an opponent in a higher realm!
But as she considered this, she hesitated, wondering if she should mention something to her master.
“Speak your mind,” Chen Daoxuan encouraged, noticing her hesitation.
As for his newly acquired hundred-year cultivation boost, his system had already absorbed it automatically, raising him to the third layer of the Qi Condensation Realm.
He wasn’t sure if he felt more amused or exasperated by this newfound level.
“Reporting to Master, I was being pursued, and since I hadn’t returned, my family should have sent someone to investigate,” she began, cautiously. “However, there’s been no word, so it’s likely that my family is facing some trouble. I’d like to return to check on things… But if Master disapproves, then I’ll stay here!”
As she spoke, she watched him intently, ready to apologize if he showed the slightest sign of disapproval.
After all, even in mortal cultivation sects, disciples were often encouraged to sever familial ties to pursue the Dao.
A master of such celestial wisdom as hers might well require his disciples to cut all worldly bonds.
“Oh, I see. Are you confident you can handle it?” Chen Daoxuan responded, showing no disapproval, but rather a note of genuine concern.
