Chapter 41 – “Lu Lixing! You rogue!!!” (1)
Ji Qingqing ruthlessly shut Lu Lixing outside.
Sleep together for a night?
What?!
If a man and woman shared a bed a few days after their marriage, wasn’t the outcome inevitable?
Ji Qingqing was furious.
However, after walking around her room once, Ji Qingqing calmed down.
Lu Lixing had been doing too well these past few days, so she kept forgetting that Lu Lixing was someone that was going to die soon.
She cracked open the door and looked at Lu Lixing, who was wearing loose clothing and hovering outside her door.
The hallway was dimly lit. There was only an orangish yellow ceiling light above her door that illuminated Lu Lixing.
She couldn’t clearly see Lu Lixing’s expression under the dim lighting. She could only see his lonely figure with an endless darkness as his backdrop.
She opened the door, and the bright light in her room poured out into the hallway and broke up the darkness behind Lu Lixing.
“What did you say before?”
“Let’s sleep together for a night.”
Ji Qingqing asked, “How?”
“You sleep on the left, and I’ll sleep on the right.”
Ji Qingqing blinked. “Just sleep?”
Lu Lixing answered her question with another question, “Are you hoping for something else?”
“…” Who wouldn’t get angry listening to him?
“I accidentally spilled water on the bed when I was drinking. It’s too late, so I don’t want to bother Aunty Pei. If you find this inconvenient…”
Ji Qingqing moved aside. “You can come in.”
She couldn’t make a sickly person sleep in the study or the living room, right?
Ji Qingqing was staying in a room that Aunty Pei’s had specially tidied up for her. It was a room that came with an ensuite bathroom. The floor-to-ceiling windows faced the east, and there was a large wardrobe and dressing table in the room. Although it couldn’t be compared to Lu Lixing’s master bedroom, it was still very nice.
Other than the female employees, it had been a long time since a woman stayed in the Lu family’s home. Ji Qingqing’s room was different from the men’s bedrooms. The biggest difference was that Ji Qingqing’s blanket had a lovely fragrance.
It wasn’t the scent of an expensive perfume, but a special scent that belonged only to women.
This scene had spread to every corner of the room.
Lu Lixing had smelled this scent as soon as he stepped into Ji Qingqing’s room.
Ji Qingqing wore a pink silk camisole with an outer layer that reached her thighs to sleep. The characteristic of these sleeping clothes was that they were light and close-fitting. When you touched them, there was almost no difference between touching them and bare skin. Ji Qingqing usually felt very comfortable wearing this, but now that she was going to share a bed with someone…
She couldn’t just wear these sleeping clothes.
After thinking it over, Ji Qingqing went into the bathroom and changed into a conservative long-sleeved cotton pajamas. By the time she came out of the bathroom, she saw Lu Lixing standing by the bed and thoughtfully looking at it.
The two people stood by the bed in a silent moment of tacit understanding. Neither of them were looking forward to having to share a bed.
“Don’t worry, I’m a good sleeper. I don’t move around in my sleep. This is a 1.8 meter wide bed. There’s plenty of space for both of us to sleep in it. I’ll sleep on this side, and you sleep on that side. We’ll use the pillows as a dividing line in the middle. You’re not allowed to cross it or touch me. You’re not allowed to take advantage of me.”
Lu Lixing glanced at her. “What advantage would I be taking?”
“I’m a woman. You’re the one that says I’m full of feminine charm and all men like women like me!”
“… I won’t take advantage of you.” Lu Lixing sincerely regretted his word choice when he had been praising Qingqing today.
“Let’s go to bed then.”
The two people got into bed.
Ji Qingqing tried to scoot as close to the edge of the bed as possible without falling out.
Lu Lixing: “…”
Did she find him that horrible? He wouldn’t say he was someone that attracts bees and butterflies like honey, but plenty of woman came up to him at parties.
It wasn’t Ji Qingqing’s fault. One hand would be enough to count the number of times she had contact with the opposite gender from childhood to adulthood. She hadn’t even held hands with a man before. And now, she had skipped past dating and went from a woman that had been single for over twenty years to a married woman.
She wasn’t used to this. This was totally beyond the boundary of her comfort zone.
