In This Life, I Will Extremely Pamper My Short-Lived Husband

Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Xu Jinzhi Cannot Let Go of Xie Yanchuan

"Okay," Xie Yanchuan nodded in agreement.

The sky had already darkened, and as Xu Jinzhi drove, she asked Xie Yanchuan, "The elders at home hope that our wedding can be held before the end of the year. Do you have any thoughts?"

"No," Xie Yanchuan shook his head.

Without a hint of insincerity, he truly had no thoughts on the matter, for just a few days prior, he hadn't considered whom he might marry, let alone given any thought to the wedding itself.

He had even felt at one point that he would probably end up leading a solitary life.

"Do you have any suggestions for the wedding?" Xu Jinzhi asked again.

In her previous life, the wedding that she and Xie Yanchuan had was originally supposed to feature her and Xie Linchuan on stage together.

The switch to a new groom was last minute, and there was no time to spare; she didn't have the time to consider Xie Yanchuan's preferences, so aside from the groom himself, nothing else at the wedding was altered.

Even because Xie Yanchuan and Xie Linchuan were about the same height and weight, the wedding attire was simply Xie Linchuan's original suit fitted onto Xie Yanchuan.

Putting herself in his shoes, were her wedding not prepared for her from the start, Xu Jinzhi was sure she would have turned the wedding upside down!

If she was to suffer, then no one would have it easy!

In fact, Xu Jinzhi had done just that; although she compromised over Xie Linchuan's matter, she didn't simply swallow her grievances.

She used that incident to make both Xie Linchuan and the Xie Family pay dearly.

Only Xie Yanchuan, the poor sod, was dragged in to take the fall without having a say.

Reborn into another life, now that she had said she would be kinder to Xie Yanchuan, she might as well go the extra mile since the wedding arrangements hadn't started yet—it would be easy to incorporate any suggestions Xie Yanchuan might have.

But after pondering for a moment, Xie Yanchuan replied indifferently, "I have no particular requests; whatever you decide is fine."

"Why do I get the feeling from your tone that you are not at all willing to marry me?" Xu Jinzhi glanced at Xie Yanchuan, her brows slightly knitting together as if she was becoming unhappy again.

Xie Yanchuan hurriedly explained, "That's not the case!"

"Then think about it carefully. This is our wedding; how can you let me be the only one to decide?" Xu Jinzhi said.

Xie Yanchuan had no choice but to nod in agreement again.

It was the rush hour for leaving work, and the road was somewhat congested. Xu Jinzhi drove for over half an hour before they arrived at the restaurant.

It was a Western restaurant, to be precise, a couple's restaurant. Just by looking through the huge glass windows from outside, one could sense the romantic atmosphere within.

The two got out of the car and headed towards the restaurant. Xu Jinzhi had already booked a table in advance. After giving their name, the waiter led them to their reserved spot.

Although it was the peak dining hour, the restaurant wasn't very crowded, given that such a place prioritizes ambiance.

After seating themselves and ordering their meal, the waiter left, giving them privacy.

Xu Jinzhi looked at Xie Yanchuan without speaking. Xie Yanchuan was also silent. Of course, Xu Jinzhi wasn't awkward, but Xie Yanchuan felt a bit uncomfortable.

After a moment, Xie Yanchuan hesitantly asked, "I'm curious, why did you choose to form a marriage alliance with me?"

"Don't you know?" Xu Jinzhi slightly tilted her head.

"I know," Xie Yanchuan paused before continuing, "But if it's just for that reason, you could have chosen not to form an alliance with the Xie Family."

Xu Jinzhi nodded; she indeed had the option not to form an alliance with the Xie Family.

In her past life, at the beginning, there was no necessity to form an alliance with the Xie Family to cooperate; both families considered it a good idea, and she thought it was acceptable, so she agreed to the alliance.

Later, the incident with Xie Linchuan embarrassed both families; she was put on the spot and chose Xie Yanchuan mainly as a counter to the Xie Family.

At that time, she thought she would stay in the Xie Family and see how far Xie Linchuan and that woman could go.

The eventual outcome told her that Xie Linchuan, an utter fool, wasn't worth her anger.

By then, she was already married to Xie Yanchuan. Their marriage wasn't sweet or romantic, but at least it was harmonious and pleasant.

Xie Yanchuan was a qualified husband and a qualified father.

She felt as if she had accidentally made the right decision, to spend a lifetime with Xie Yanchuan; that wouldn't be so bad.

But fate wasn't kind to Xie Yanchuan; an accident took him away.

"I've thought for a long time, and I don't understand why you would choose to form a marriage alliance with me, especially since we didn't know each other before, and you don't know what kind of person I am," said Xie Yanchuan.

Xu Jinzhi chuckled. Who said she didn't know what kind of person Xie Yanchuan was?

She indeed had the choice not to form an alliance with the Xie Family, but her life with Xie Yanchuan in her previous life felt right; therefore, in this life, she still chose Xie Yanchuan.

"You also don't know what kind of person I am. Why did you agree?" Xu Jinzhi countered.

Xie Yanchuan didn't respond.

Xu Jinzhi's smile slightly faded, "Xie Yanchuan, I'm giving you another chance. Do you want to refuse our marriage alliance?"

Xie Yanchuan's lips slightly moved.

Xu Jinzhi continued, "Don't rush your answer; you only have one chance. Think it over carefully."

Xie Yanchuan frowned slightly as if he was considering the question carefully until a waiter came over, apparently ready to serve the food.

Only then did Xie Yanchuan answer, "I have pollen allergies."

"Huh?" Xu Jinzhi blinked, then recalled that Xie Yanchuan did indeed have pollen allergies.

Before the waiter approached, Xie Yanchuan spoke his final words, "Although I generally don't get allergies from a distance, it would be best to avoid fresh flowers at the wedding to prevent any mishaps."

At the mention of the wedding, Xu Jinzhi realized Xie Yanchuan hadn't rejected her!

She couldn't help but smile to the side and assured him earnestly, "Rest assured, there will not be a single fresh flower in sight where you are!"

"Not just at the wedding, but even after marriage, wherever you appear and I have the final say, there will be no fresh flowers."

"Thank you," Xie Yanchuan politely said.

He didn't know why he could have refused but ultimately didn't.

He couldn't think of a reason; he simply followed his heart.

As the waiter came over to serve the dishes, Xu Jinzhi was still looking at Xie Yanchuan. Actually, she had just tricked Xie Yanchuan.

In this life, she had planned to treat Xie Yanchuan better, but treating him better assumed she would 'marry him back' first!

Otherwise, how could she treat him well?

Xu Jinzhi wouldn't possibly let Xie Yanchuan slip through her fingers.

Fortunately, Xie Yanchuan did not refuse. If he had, Xu Jinzhi reckoned she would have to think about how to punish Xie Yanchuan, just to vent her own frustrations.
