"Thank you for coming, Haruto. I'm sorry if Jie Li made you uncomfortable," Mei Li said with a softer tone, attempting to ease the situation.

"It's no problem. Thank you as well for the dinner. Your cooking is always delicious, Miss Mei." Haruto nodded slightly, offering a faint smile.

"I'm glad to hear that. It always feels good to see someone enjoy the food I make." Mei Li smiled, this time a more genuine one.

"Well, I'll be off then, Miss Mei." After exchanging final farewells, Haruto stepped out of their home. The cool night air greeted him, bringing a sense of relief after the tension inside.

"Be safe on your way, Haruto," Mei Li called, waving gently as Haruto walked away, leaving behind a house filled with warmth... and a bit of tension.

Once Haruto was gone, Mei Li immediately closed the door and turned to Jie Li with a serious expression rarely seen on her face. Mei Li approached her daughter, sitting beside her, and gazed deeply, as if trying to unearth the answers hidden in Jie Li's heart.
