Chapter 72: Chapter 71
"Since we're fellow members of the troupe, how about an 80% discount? Eight million for a set of training notes—how does that sound?" Morin joked.
"Eight million... That's not unreasonable," Machi replied calmly.
"Huh?"
In the scene, Machi's slight nod surprised Morin a little.
"You mentioned you have training methods for other categories as well, right?" Machi suddenly changed the topic.
"Yes, I do."
"Got it."
In the frame, Machi nodded lightly, then covered the phone with one hand. She turned to face Uvogin and Nobunaga behind her.
"Uvogin, Nobunaga, Morin says he has some valuable training notes for Enhancement-type Nen users."
"Huh?!"
Hearing about anything related to training, the two perked up immediately.
"It's training methods from the strongest Nen practitioners in this world. Very valuable."
"The strongest training methods?" Uvogin was intrigued. "If Morin says it's that valuable, it must be incredible!"
"Machi, tell Morin I want it!"
"Me too!" Nobunaga quickly chimed in.
"Morin already said he'd give the notes to you," Machi said casually. "However, he hasn't fully obtained them yet. A little... contribution is needed to deliver them."
"What kind of contribution?" Uvogin asked eagerly.
"Just some money."
Machi raised a hand and gestured with her fingers.
"One set costs forty million Jenny. Two sets for you two would be eighty million Jenny."
"Forty million each?" Nobunaga rubbed his chin. "If the methods are legit, it's not expensive."
"When we fought our way to the 200th floor at Heaven's Arena, we made over two hundred million Jenny."
"But I've already spent mine."
Uvogin scratched his head. "I blew it all on booze."
"How much did you drink to spend it all?!"
"What's the big deal?! Heaven's Arena pays well, but everything there is ridiculously expensive! Even some ordinary-looking chocolate beans cost a fortune!"
Hm, it seems like using up your winnings on overpriced chocolate isn't unique. Killua must've set the precedent.
"Money isn't a problem—just go steal it! Why bother saving?" Uvogin said, sounding quite justified. "We're thieves, after all!"
"Then why don't you go steal the notes from Morin yourself?" Nobunaga shot back. "I'm not paying for you."
"Morin's too far away to steal from, and he's still our deputy leader."
Uvogin grinned and bumped his fists together. "But I remember you've got some money stashed away, Nobunaga."
Uvogin flashed a toothy smile, his big, gleaming teeth catching the light. "I can't reach Morin, but you're right here."
"Huh?!" Nobunaga squinted his eyes, immediately getting into a stance.
"Are you trying to rob me?" His thumb pressed against the hilt of his blade. "Go ahead—just try!"
On the other end of the call, Morin witnessed the scene in silence:
"..."
Alright, so I asked Machi for eight million Jenny, and she turned around and charged Uvogin and Nobunaga forty million each, totaling eighty million.
That's one massive markup, with a tenfold profit margin and no upfront costs.
Truly, it's Machi at her finest.
"Forget it, I was just kidding," Morin said, using the Object Teleportation Connector to send over the training methods for Enhancement, Emission, and Transmutation Nen categories.
For Enhancement, he tailored the notes into two sets: one for muscleheads like Uvogin and another for sword-wielding wanderers like Nobunaga.
For Transmutation, Morin also included methods suitable for fine weaponry, such as small blades and wire-like tools, designed for Feitan and Machi.
As for Emission, he prepared training guides for Nen bullets, which Franklin requested.
Within the troupe, everyone had a training method suited to their specialties.
When Morin trained with Biscuit, he hadn't forgotten about his fellow troupe members.
The Phantom Troupe's members were all exceptionally talented. Chrollo had put immense effort into founding the group, and none of its members were chosen casually.
Each member possessed either an outstanding personality or extraordinary abilities.
Even without formal training, they became a world-class criminal organization through sheer talent and determination.
Their raw potential wasn't lacking—it was targeted guidance and training methods they needed.
And Biscuit, with her vast experience, had plenty of those to offer.
"I understand. I'll pass these training methods on to Uvogin and Nobunaga," Machi said calmly.
Without glancing at the renewed brawl behind her, Machi continued, "The next time we meet, I'll be much stronger than when we last parted."
It was rare for her to speak so much.
After exchanging a few more words, the call ended.
"She's in a rush, isn't she?"
Morin detected the change in Machi's tone, which didn't align with her usual cold and quiet demeanor.
"Is it because she noticed how quickly Pakunoda's been improving while following me, and now feels pressure and urgency? Maybe she's worried about the growing gap between us?"
Morin chuckled silently and shook his head.
"If you're so eager to catch up, Machi, then push yourself harder. Same goes for Uvogin and Nobunaga!"
With a leap, Morin propelled himself forward.
His body shot off the cliff like an arrow, plunging downward.
The roaring wind howled in his ears as the sensation of free fall enveloped him.
Yet Morin merely closed his eyes lightly.
"Psychokinesis!"
Whoosh!
Midair, Morin, falling at high speed, abruptly stopped, defying the laws of physics as he floated in place.
His body hovered as though suspended by invisible forces.
"Not bad…"
Adjusting his posture, Morin oriented himself upright.
Psychokinesis was one of three superpowers Morin had mastered from the Superpower Training Box.
Finally, today, he had fully grasped them.
"Next up, teleportation!"
In a flash, Morin disappeared and reappeared back on the cliff where he had leapt.
"This is way more convenient than Nen abilities."
Stretching his arms and legs, Morin seemed pleased.
Unlike Nen, superpowers had no usage restrictions and didn't consume aura or energy.
These abilities, honed through personal effort, only drained physical stamina if used excessively.
"Lastly, x-ray vision."
Morin's eyes glimmered faintly as he scanned his surroundings.
Mountains, lakes, forests, caves, wild animals, and... oh, some animals in the middle of mating.
"Ah, spring is coming," Morin muttered before quickly shutting his eyes.
With superpowers now in hand, his next step was to hone them further during his adventures.
In his hands was another box.
Item: Ninjutsu Training Toolkit
Effect: The box contains tools to train various ninjutsu techniques, including Water Walking, Tengu Flight, Godspeed Movement, and Transformation Scrolls. Successfully mastering these can result in proficiency in ninjutsu.
Many of Doraemon's tools are designed for immediate use.
Even superpowers can be accessed using items like the Superpower Hat.
However, tools requiring personal training to master abilities are rare.
Aside from the Superpower Training Box, the Ninjutsu Training Toolkit was the only other such item Morin had drawn.
Ninjutsu wasn't as powerful as Nen, but it offered a way to expand his skill set.
At the very least, it helped improve his physical condition while adding new tricks to his arsenal.
Speaking of ninjutsu, this world did have ninjas like Hanzo from the Hunter Exam.
Hanzo, a bald ninja from a hidden group, trained rigorously in body techniques and ninjutsu.
However, in this world of Nen, even the best ninjutsu wasn't on the same level.
"This toolkit should be useful during my travels. Perhaps I'll also encounter skilled Nen users in major cities."
Morin gazed westward.
"And the best place to start is Yorknew City, the City of Sin…"
"It's not too far from here, and I can walk there along the way. It'll be another good training opportunity."
With that thought, Morin embarked on a spontaneous journey.
Yorknew City is located on the western coastline of the Yorbian Continent. Known as the City of Sin, it's a city controlled by the Mafia.
Morin had no strict timeline to reach Yorknew City and traveled at a leisurely pace.
While training, he also enjoyed the scenery along the way, which was quite pleasant.
Being alone, with no burdens, gave him a refreshing sense of freedom and relaxation.
But this solo journey didn't last long.
Kabira City, situated east of Yorknew City, serves as a hub station for trains and transportation connecting to Yorknew City.
Due to its proximity to Yorknew, the people in Kabira City are heavily influenced by its culture.
There's an intense pursuit of wealth, and Mafia culture is widespread.
As a result, this city—despite its small size—boasts an unusual combination of ruggedness and simplicity.
When Morin arrived, street fights were a common sight.
In fact, in one corner of the city, he even saw police officers clapping and cheering.
Well, in a world like Hunter x Hunter, where the lines between good and evil are blurred and Nen abilities exist, nothing should really be surprising.
By the way, the Yorknew City he was heading to was probably Togashi's allegory for the "Land of Liberty" and its version of New York.
Just being in a city near Yorknew was enough for Morin to sense a rather "free" atmosphere filled with opportunism.
As Morin shook his head and prepared to leave—
"Did you hear? That kid went to Master Bosangi again to ask to become his disciple."
Two greasy young men passed by, chatting as they walked.
"That kid's got persistence. Master Bosangi is the best martial artist in this entire city. Not just anyone can become his disciple."
"Exactly. I heard that to train under Master Bosangi, even if you aren't the child of a high-ranking official or a wealthy tycoon, you still need to offer an incredibly generous apprenticeship gift, right?"
"That kid doesn't seem to have anything and just wants Master Bosangi to take him in? What a joke!"
"Yeah, but I gotta admit, the kid's pretty stubborn. He's been rejected by Master Bosangi two or three times and still hasn't given up."
"Hah! Remember that one guy who knelt outside Master Bosangi's dojo for ten days and nights? What happened? He ended up starving to death, and Master Bosangi still didn't open the door."
"True. I don't think Master Bosangi will open the door this time either."
"Such a pity for that kid. He's got a decent-looking face. Why not just work on his physique a bit and make some rich ladies happy?"
"Hahaha, is that your plan? To be honest, though, that kid—Hua Shidoulang, was it?—he might be young, but his physical foundation looks pretty solid."
As the two chatted enthusiastically, they suddenly noticed someone blocking their path.
"Excuse me for interrupting."
Morin smiled and pulled out a bill.
"Can you tell me where Master Bosangi's dojo is?"
