Chapter 37: Chapter 36
The gun in Morin's hand didn't have much offensive power, but its true strength lay in rendering its target incapable of doing anything.
In most other worlds, this might not amount to much. However, in the world of Hunter x Hunter, being unable to act also meant being unable to use nen.
This ability forced the target into a state of Zetsu—cutting off their nen entirely.
With this functionality, what might seem like a mere toy gun became a devastating weapon against nen users.
As for its effectiveness?
The sight of the hooked-nose man floating midair, his body swollen and struggling futilely, made it abundantly clear—it worked remarkably well.
"Damn it, Morin! I was looking forward to a proper fight with this guy, and you had to go and interrupt!"
Uvogin, still itching for action, walked over begrudgingly. Blood dripped from his right hand, but it didn't stop him from scratching his wild hair.
"It's rare to run into a nen user outside—especially one who's developed combat-oriented abilities."
"Speaking of which…" Nobunaga, standing nearby, cast a curious glance at the gun in Morin's hand. "That's one of your new tools, isn't it?"
"Yeah," Morin confirmed with a nod. "It's pretty useful for immobilizing enemies."
He turned to Uvogin, who still seemed restless. "There's plenty of time and opportunities for fights. You'll find some worthy nen users soon enough. Remember the Sky Arena I mentioned before? That's a great place to start. We can go there later."
"For now, our priority is taking this guy back. The boss needs a skilled nen user to help us understand more about the world and nen abilities," Morin said, gesturing toward the floating hooked-nose man. "This one fits the bill."
"Fair enough," Nobunaga agreed without protest.
At the mention of the Sky Arena and the many strong opponents there, Uvogin grinned, clenching his fists in excitement.
"Let's hand him over to Feitan for interrogation," Uvogin suggested, flashing a toothy smile. "No one in the group is better suited for that than him."
"Let's hope the guy survives," Nobunaga remarked, already feeling a bit of sympathy for their captive.
"Hahaha! If he does survive, I wouldn't mind fighting him again," Uvogin said, laughing.
"Yeah, we'll see," Nobunaga replied dryly.
Their banter made it clear the hooked-nose man's fate was sealed.
Overhearing this exchange, the man's heart sank deeper and deeper.
"Wait! Listen—" he began, desperately trying to stay calm and speak.
Thud!
Before he could finish, Uvogin's massive fist—larger than a cooking pot—landed on the back of his neck. His eyes rolled back, and he passed out instantly.
Without nen to shield him, he had no defense whatsoever.
"Be careful! We need him alive, you know!"
"I know!" Uvogin shot back, grinning.
"Let's take this guy and the money back to base," Morin said, ignoring their bickering as he gestured to the three large sacks on the ground.
"You two take two of the bags, and I'll keep one as reserve funds."
With that, Morin waved his hand, and one of the bags, brimming with jenny, vanished into his four-dimensional pocket.
After giving Uvogin and Nobunaga a few reminders, he sent them on their way with the captive.
"And where are you going, Morin?" Uvogin asked casually.
"To take care of our identification documents," Morin explained. "It'll make moving around the world easier in the future. For instance, you'll need an ID to register at the Sky Arena."
"Alright, take care!" Uvogin said, hoisting the unconscious man onto his shoulder. Grinning, he added, "This was such a rewarding outing—not only did we capture a skilled nen user, but we also got all this money, and we'll even get our IDs sorted!"
"Absolutely," Nobunaga agreed, hefting the remaining two money bags. "We've covered just about everything the troupe needs for now!"
"Following Morin around really pays off!"
"Sure does!"
Laughing loudly, the two disappeared into the night, their playful banter echoing in the distance.
Morin chuckled, shaking his head at their antics, before glancing down at the bodyguard-accountant he was still stepping on.
"You know what to do next, don't you?" he asked coldly.
The accountant frantically nodded, his head hitting the ground with audible thuds.
"Good. Don't try any tricks," Morin warned, his gaze turning icy. "I've already taken down the top fighter you brought along—dealing with you would be child's play."
His tone grew sharper. "If I find out you're up to anything, you won't want to know what will happen to you."
The bodyguard-accountant shuddered violently, his fear palpable.
