DS Chapter 66: Hell

But in the end, he could only bite his lip and reply, "I know, I'll come out later!"

This was the first time Ren saw Kocho Shinobu looking angry.

Her face was puffed up, and her neck was as red as a duck's.

Ren inadvertently smirked.

It seemed the other party had gradually relaxed her guard around him.

The smile that had disappeared from her face was the best proof of that.

Ren no longer dwelled on it. He turned around and gently closed the door, returning to the game.

---

Meanwhile...

At the training ground, Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, was enthusiastically providing "massage services."

Just moments ago, he had a brief conversation with the five recruits, learning their names.

First, there was Inosuke, but he didn't count. Sanemi had dragged him along just to make up the numbers—he was more of a mascot than an actual participant.

The real focus was on the four brothers standing before him.

They had voluntarily joined the Demon Slayer Corps and were named Tomioka Dairo, Tomioka Jiro, Tomioka Saburo, and Tomioka Kotaro.

The four siblings had once lived peacefully in the mountains until one day, their family was slaughtered by a demon. Filled with fear and hatred, they joined the Demon Slayer Corps.

But today, they saw something even scarier than demons.

Sanemi's "massage"!

He leaned in close to Tomioka Dairo, his face just inches away, and asked in an unsettlingly friendly tone, "What's wrong? You got a problem?"

Tomioka Dairo trembled and stammered, "N-No, Lord Wind Hashira."

"No?" Sanemi smiled.

Then he pointed toward the area where Ren and Rengoku were training and barked, "Then why the hell are you staring at them?! Are you dissatisfied with my personal, hands-on relaxation techniques?!"

Sanemi was furious.

He was a man of great dignity, yet he was lowering himself to personally massage his subordinates' muscles and bones.

And these four brats were still looking elsewhere!

Their eyes kept drifting toward Ren!

Wasn't this basically saying they had an issue with him?

They might as well have the phrase 'My body is here, but my heart is elsewhere' written on their foreheads!

The Tomioka brothers sighed internally.

They were suffering!

Rengoku's rehabilitation training, while intense, was at least filled with passion.

If his patients were struggling, he would patiently guide them and then reassure them with his signature hearty laugh.

Ren, on the other hand, was a professional.

He didn't even need to comfort his patients—he healed them instantly with sheer skill and precision.

Rehabilitation training was supposed to be efficient and effective, not… torture.

And then there was Sanemi.

Sanemi's "massage techniques" completely defied human anatomy.

If he thought your bones should rotate in the opposite direction, they would.

If he believed your joints should bend a certain way, then by god, they would bend.

It was pure agony disguised as therapy.

At this point, the Tomioka brothers realized one thing:

If your bones were hard enough, you could survive Sanemi's "delicate" touch.

Sanemi shook his head in disappointment as he looked at the four trembling brothers.

"The quality of Demon Slayers these days is dropping to an embarrassing level," he sighed. "Your flexibility is atrocious!"

Tomioka Dairo hesitated before mumbling, "But… we're patients. Isn't it normal for us to be weaker?"

Sanemi snapped back, "Oh? And when a demon attacks you, do you think it's going to say, 'Oh, he's a patient! I should take it easy on him!'?"

"They're demons! They'll eat every last bit of you!"

"Or are you just like that brat Tomioka Giyu? Think you're different from the rest of us?!"

"If you don't have the strength of a Hashira, then shut up and train!"

At that, the Tomioka brothers immediately fell silent.

Sanemi was infamous for his bad temper. Talking back to him was the equivalent of digging your own grave.

Resigned to their fate, they could only accept his "training."

"Alright then, let's continue the massage! Who's next?" Sanemi cracked his knuckles and eyed them one by one.

The Tomioka brothers all lowered their heads, desperately trying to avoid eye contact.

Sanemi sneered. "Afraid, huh? Fine. We'll do it together!"

The next moment, Sanemi teleported behind Tomioka Dairo.

He grabbed his waist and upper back, placing one knee and elbow directly behind him.

Then, mimicking what Ren had done earlier, Sanemi whispered, "Relax."

Tomioka Dairo felt a shiver run down his spine.

Then—

Pain.

A searing, bone-deep agony exploded through his shoulders and back.

A bloodcurdling scream ripped from his throat.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"

Sanemi grinned.

"See? Feels good, right? My technique isn't worse than that brat Ren's, huh?"

"Y-Yeah," Tomioka Dairo whimpered, too afraid to argue.

But he had no idea how much worse it was about to get.

Sanemi increased the pressure.

"Come on, relax a little more."

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Tomioka Dairo's face turned an alarming shade of red.

Something was wrong.

Sanemi frowned. "Why are you so stiff? You need to loosen up! Relax!"

"I… I am trying to relax!" Dairo gritted his teeth.

Sanemi was baffled.

Was the Demon Slayer Corps really this weak nowadays?

Why was his patient getting stiffer the longer he massaged him?

But he had clearly copied Ren's method!

Was he not using enough force?

Fine. He would increase it.

Sanemi took a deep breath, nearly activating his Wind Breathing techniques.

Tomioka Dairo broke out in a cold sweat.

Then—

A sickening CRACK!

His shoulder dislocated.

With a thud, he collapsed to the ground like a boneless piece of meat.

His three younger brothers cried out in horror.

"Big brother! What happened?! Say something!"

Kanzaki Aoi, who had been sweeping the training ground, immediately ran over.

"Move aside! Let me check!"

She crouched next to Dairo and quickly assessed his condition.

"Rapid heartbeat, severe dislocation, excruciating pain… and judging by his expression, he suffered extreme psychological trauma before passing out!"

Kanzaki Aoi shot a glare at Sanemi.

"Lord Wind Hashira, you overdid it!"

Sanemi huffed. "What? He just needs to toughen up."

Kanzaki Aoi ignored him and grabbed a small cart.

"I'm taking him to the infirmary. You can continue 'training' the others."

With that, she loaded the unconscious Tomioka Dairo onto the cart and wheeled him away.

Now, only three brothers remained.

Jiro, Saburo, and Kotaro huddled in a corner, trembling.

They didn't even have time to mourn their fallen brother.

Because next…

It was their turn.
