67 - Scatter, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi!

Byakuya's pupils contracted sharply, his face full of disbelief.

In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through his mind.

"Bankai!?"

"He said Bankai!?"

"How could he know my Bankai!?"

"But how does he know the incantation for my Bankai!?"

Before Byakuya could think further, Senbonzakura's Shikai was undone, the myriad floating blades reconstituting into a complete blade.

Then, Byakuya felt Senbonzakura, which he had been holding tightly, suddenly slip from his grasp and slowly descend, blade-first, towards the ground.

Magically, as Senbonzakura touched the ground, it did not pierce the surface but instead disappeared into the rippling ground.

Byakuya, knowing full well what this signified, felt his pupils twitch violently, and even his body trembled instinctively.

There was only one thought in Byakuya's mind: "He can actually release my Bankai!"

Everyone except Yoruichi was still processing Gilgamesh's seemingly absurd words when they witnessed this incredible scene, their hearts couldn't help but tremble.

They had all heard Gilgamesh's words.

Naturally, the retainers of the Kuchiki family understood what it meant for a Zanpakutō to reach Bankai.

Renji Abarai and Rukia Kuchiki had read about it in the curriculum at the Shin'ō Academy: "Fundamentals of the Zanpakutō."

[Among the thousands of Shinigami in every era, only a few can achieve Bankai.]

[Once Bankai is attained, the Shinigami's name will forever be inscribed in the history of the Soul Society.]

Their eyes fixed unblinkingly on Senbonzakura, which was now rippling into the ground, eager to witness the Bankai of the Sixth Division Captain of the Gotei 13, Byakuya Kuchiki.

Byakuya's Bankai was known to very few, possibly only Yamamoto, as Byakuya had never displayed it publicly since mastering it.

Even the retainers of the Kuchiki family had never seen Byakuya's Bankai.

Under everyone's gaze, as Senbonzakura completely sank into the ripples, rows of ripples emerged on the ground beside Byakuya.

Simultaneously, giant blades of Senbonzakura began to rise from the ripples, numbering in the dozens or hundreds.

To Renji and Rukia, these towering blades seemed like a legion of giant guardians, emanating a cold and solemn aura, a mere sight inducing a palpable pressure.

Now they understood why Byakuya's Bankai was called Senbonzakura Kageyoshi.

But they had little time to ponder.

Under Byakuya's trembling and shocked gaze, Gilgamesh smiled with pleasure and commanded, "Scatter, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi."

In an instant, the giant blades disintegrated into billions of razor-sharp petals, forming a pink ocean of blades that engulfed Byakuya.

At the same time, an immense spiritual pressure erupted.

The entire Shin'ō Academy, from teachers and vice-principals to students, felt this overwhelming spiritual pressure and couldn't help but tremble.

Students, unaware of what this immense spiritual pressure signified, felt an instinctive fear, some even feeling the urge to kneel.

However, the teachers knew well that this was the spiritual pressure of a captain-class Shinigami, and not just any captain-class Shinigami.

The other vice-principal gritted his teeth and contacted Yamamoto.

As the head of the Shin'ō Academy, Yamamoto needed to be informed and take charge of the situation.

Before the vice-principal could speak, Yamamoto's aged and weighty voice came through, "I am aware and am on my way. Maintain order and find out what is happening."

Relieved, the vice-principal hurried towards the source of Byakuya's spiritual pressure.

Meanwhile, the captains of the Gotei 13 sensed Byakuya's spiritual pressure and turned their attention to the Shin'ō Academy.

They didn't know what had happened, but anything that made Byakuya unleash such power was surely significant.

Without hesitation, they made their way to the academy.

In the Fifth Division's quarters.

Freshly washed and dressed, Aizen stood at the entrance of his office, gazing towards the Shin'ō Academy, his eyes behind his glasses glinting with an unknown light.

Behind him, Gin and Tōsen also looked towards the academy.

They, too, sensed Byakuya's spiritual pressure and could guess why he had erupted.

Yet, they didn't move.

Gin, seeing Aizen remain still, couldn't help but ask, "Captain Aizen, isn't this related to him? Shouldn't we go and take a look?"

Aizen replied, "There's nothing to see when the outcome is already known. Byakuya won't uncover his true strength."

Turning to face Gin and Tōsen, Aizen continued, "However, this is an opportunity."

"Gin, Tōsen, go there and, if asked, make up a reason why I couldn't come. I have somewhere to be."

Exchanging glances, Gin and Tōsen were puzzled.

Tōsen asked, "Captain Aizen, where are you going?"

Aizen's eyes behind his glasses narrowed slightly, "The Great Spirit Book Gallery. There, I'll find records of the Spirit King."

"And I need to investigate Kisuke Urahara's data."
