Chapter 61: Chapter 56: Little Ben Had Grown Into A Man.
Blue Rose squad's base...
For the past three days, the magic knight squads had been busy dealing with the mountain of missions piling up on their desks.
Even captains were not left out; they were regularly sent to the borders or places to quell the commotions, which could cause great trouble to the kingdom in this situation.
But Blue Rose had another headache: they were receiving letters, invitations, marriage proposals, and many others coming to their base nonstop.
Everything was for a single person—Ben, who had not returned after the court hearing.
When Charlotte found out about the marriage proposals sent to marry Ben, she angrily burned them without leaving a single one for Ben to read.
But the very next day, the marriage proposals started to pile up at the base again.
When Mary and Anny tried to ask her about Ben's whereabouts, all they received was a vague answer that he would return soon.
Meanwhile, she was looking at the blue sky with a longing gaze.
It's not a big secret among the Blue Rose Magic Knight squad that their leader Charlotte and Ben share a special relationship.
Even though they act like they have no idea, Charlotte still thinks her relationship with Ben is hidden well.
"____"
"____"
sigh~
"Will he be alright, right?"
With clear concern in her voice, Mary turned to look at Anny and spoke after a sigh.
"He's strong... he will come back soon."
Even though Anny's face remained cold, her eyes showed a little worry about Ben.
They had heard about what happened at the court hearing. Even though they were happy Ben was a crown prince and soon to be the king of the Clover kingdom, what worried them was the story behind Ben's parents, who were betrayed by the traitor Augustus Kira.
Hage Village...
Nearby forest...
Ben was lying in the cabin, still thinking about the court hearing, which changed his life from an orphan and a very talented magic knight from the Blue Rose squad to the crown prince in a short span.
In his previous life, his parents loved him and were the only ones who supported him in the low point of his life.
After the accident, only he died, but his parents survived, which gave him huge relief.
He never understood his parents' pain and suffering they went through to raise him until a week after he started helping his parents with their bakery business.
He had overheard their conversation, which made him cry all night, hiding under the blanket.
Flashback...
"Why do you always scold him? He wanted to help us with the bakery..."
His mom spoke in a low tone in their bedroom, offended by his father's anger when their son mentioned he left his job and wanted to help them with the bakery.
"I'm not upset or angry with him, dear... all I wish is for him to have a happy life... he always had a talent for cooking. I am proud of it... but all I want is for my son to have a good life, not a struggling one."
With deep emotion in his voice, his father stated his reason.
He didn't want his son to suffer like him in his life.
All he wanted was to see his son lead a wonderful life with a great future.
After death and reincarnation, the first thing Ben saw was his mother, who was on the verge of death, holding him protectively as if his life depended on it.
Moving with great difficulty, she entered the orphanage and gave him away before dying.
So he always felt grateful for his mother, who saved his life with her own, even though he didn't know the reason for her death.
He accepted her as his mother wholeheartedly, even though he was reincarnated. He was not an idiot who kept saying, "I am reincarnated; I won't love my parents. They were just there to give birth to me; after their purpose was fulfilled, they must die, and I won't care."
Flashback ends...
knock... knock...
"Ben, are you in there?"
A few knocks woke Ben from his deep thought, and a voice came from outside the room, asking if he was still in there.
"____"
'Why is he here?'
Hearing the voice coming from outside, Ben was shocked for a few seconds, then stood from his bed and went to open the door of the cabin.
creak~
With a creak, Ben opened the door of the cabin and looked at the three people who were standing outside.
"Nebra, Noelle, why are you guys here? Asta, what are you doing with them?"
Looking at the three figures who were standing at his door, Ben asked with a confused look on his face.
humpf~
"We came to see how you are doing. Why are you here?"
Looking at Ben, who had a confused look on his face, Nebra, acting like she didn't care, pushed Ben aside and entered the cabin.
sigh~
"I am just worn out... I was planning to return to the Blue Rose base tomorrow."
Shrugging his shoulders with a defeated sigh, Ben explained that he was about to return to the base soon.
After answering Nebra's question, Ben turned to look at Asta with a questioning look.
"Well..."
hehe~
"They came to the orphanage and donated a large sum... and after that, they asked about your whereabouts, so..."
With a little awkward smile, scratching the back of his head, Asta started to explain.
Hearing Asta's explanation, Ben sighed, looking at his brother, who had revealed the location of his hideout.
For some reason, Asta knew about his hideout from when Ben last visited the village with Charlotte, coming to the forest to practice.
So when Nebra asked about him in the village and if he was there, she remembered this place and took them here.
sigh~
'Asta, your brain... what should I do with you...'
"Asta... from now on, if anyone asks about me, don't bring them to this place. They might be an enemy. Do you understand? It might put you and the orphanage in danger."
Massaging his head with a sigh, Ben explained to Asta that he shouldn't bring an outsider here or leak any information about him.
If they were an enemy, they might put the orphanage kids in danger to lure Ben out.
Who knows how many nobles were plotting against him now?
"No... I won't let it happen... when I become Wizard King... I will build a huge protective wall around the orphanage to protect it."
Hearing that because of his actions he might put the kids in the orphanage in danger, Asta nodded with a serious expression and declared loudly.
It was loud enough to scare away the birds on the tree near the cabin.
"Brother, are you not going to come to the orphanage before you return?"
When Asta heard Ben would return to his magic knight squad tomorrow, he asked a little worriedly.
If the kids in the orphanage learned that Ben had visited the forest nearby and hadn't come to see them, they would be very sad.
"I am going to... let's go there after some time."
Shaking his head, Ben went to the small kitchen and brought a few glasses of water for them.
They must have walked all the way here and would be thirsty.
"How is your magic practice going?"
Seeing Noelle sitting quietly all this time, Ben asked her.
"____"
"Yeah... I... I... can now hit the target correctly without missing it."
Suddenly being questioned, Noelle shut her eyes and replied, looking at Ben with clear expectation visible in her eyes.
Which screamed, "Praise me... praise me."
"Well, don't slack off. You need to keep up with the hard work."
Ben nodded his head in satisfaction. He knew Noelle's biggest weakness was her poor control over mana and her aim.
Due to her subconscious not wanting to hurt someone, her attacks often veered in random directions.
Now that she was correcting that weakness, her power would increase significantly.
Because the mana inside her body was so huge, she could easily give her brother Solid a run just using basic attack spells.
He was even shocked to see Nebra had brought Noelle along with her.
According to his memory from his previous life, Nebra would rather die than bring Noelle with her.
'Is she changing due to my interference?'
"____"
Ben's gaze lingered on Nebra, whose face turned red as she felt his gaze and tried her best to ignore it.
After chatting for some time, Ben asked Asta to inform Father Orsi that he would return to the orphanage for dinner after hunting.
He asked him to prepare everything in advance before he returned from the hunt.
Night arrived...
Ben arrived at the orphanage carrying six wild boars and ten horned bunnies in his four-arms transformation.
Seeing Ben coming to the orphanage, the kids there ran toward him happily, calling his name.
Father Orsi hugged him and cried loudly, saying that little Ben had grown into a man.
