Imperial Overlord

: There are too many things to change on twenty-one

From the point of view of a professional like him, if Li Le is not the head of state and goes to the aircraft company to apply for a deputy chief engineer, then there is no problem at all.

Professionalism, overall planning, and even speculation on the development of aircraft, and the concept of aircraft design on a macro level, even made him a designer ashamed.

After a while of Li Le's flickering, Tan Ke had an in-depth understanding of how the new technology of the DB series engine, which looked very advanced in front of him, would leave hidden dangers for improvement in the future.

Moreover, the head of state knows more about technology than Tanke imagined, and it can even be said that he is proficient in technology.

At least technical components such as the stepless supercharger can be easily obtained. It is not just a casual talk at all. It is definitely a category of understanding and mastery.

What surprised Tan Ke even more was that the ME-109E fighter, which seemed to be meticulously crafted, seemed a little too fussy in the eyes of the Fuhrer.

On the contrary, the head of state is more friendly to the FW-190 fighter, which is obviously rough and ruthless.

As a World War II weapons fan, Li Le knows all kinds of military weapons in this period. He knew that in 1940, the DB engine was relatively superior, mainly due to the fact that it had a lot of funky tech.

During this period, the German aircraft had better high-altitude performance and better maneuverability, while the British Merlin engines had mediocre performance and conservative design. They were like antiques.

However, Li Le also knew that under the conditions at the time, there were two simplest ways to effectively increase the engine power: increase the engine displacement and increase the intake pressure.

The former is very simple, but has great limitations. For example, the DB603A, which is simply enlarged from the DB601, has a displacement from 33L to about 44.5L, a weight of up to 900 kg, and a take-off power of only 1750 horsepower, which is obviously very inefficient.

In contrast, increasing the intake air pressure is the fundamental solution. While increasing the intake air pressure is simple to say, it actually faces two difficulties:

The first is because the supercharger needs to compress the air as much as possible when the high air pressure is very low. However, the single-stage centrifugal supercharger has a speed ceiling, that is, after the speed reaches a certain value, it consumes power in vain, and the intake air pressure cannot be further increased. On the other hand, the supercharger diameter cannot be increased indefinitely. As a result, this forms a high-altitude intake pressure bottleneck.

Second, at low altitudes, in general, the supercharger can provide sufficient pressure. However, we all know that compressed air will cause the air temperature to rise sharply and cause deflagration, which forms a low-altitude deflagration bottleneck.

In order to solve the contradiction between these two aspects, there are several basic technical means: use a two-stage supercharger to break through the bottleneck of high-altitude intake pressure; try to cool the compressed air before it enters the cylinder to avoid deflagration; use higher-grade fuel , violently broke through the low-altitude deflagration bottleneck.

In fact, the British did exactly that on the engine of the Spitfire.

Of course, the German DB engine technicians also know the effectiveness of these measures, but these measures are difficult to apply to the DB engine:

The first reason is the technical reason of the equipment itself, such as the deadly shaft gun.

It takes up valuable space where the engine would otherwise be located, of course this is only a secondary reason.

The fundamental reason lies in two other points:

The supercharger of the DB engine is a continuously variable speed supercharger, which is inconvenient to set up a 2-stage supercharger, and the designers of the DB engine are reluctant to abandon the traditional advantage of the infinitely variable speed.

Secondly, due to the use of direct fuel injection technology, the spark plugs are prone to carbon deposition under high intake pressure conditions, and it is reluctant to give up direct injection, and there is no technical accumulation of advanced carburetors.

The rest is the reason outside the engine:

First of all, the basic technical means of air intake cooling is to use an intercooler, but the intercooler is quite large and not light in weight, so it is difficult to use it on a small aircraft such as the ME-109E.

Secondly, there was no effective solution for high-grade fuel oil before the establishment of Libyan oil fields.

In fact, technical problems can be avoided by other means. If you really can't solve the trouble, you can learn from the Soviets to engage in distinct high and low altitude fighters, such as the MiG 3 and the Yak 3, and you can make do with it. The shortage of the Third Reich also prefers both high and low altitude...

Apart from saying a sad reminder of the obsessive-compulsive disorder patient, what other way to describe it?

Li Le knew that the DB engine was also trying to improve it later. He also tried two-stage supercharging, such as the failed DB628, but he did not set up an intercooler, and tried to take into account the high and low altitudes. It was a very reasonable tragedy.

Germans seem to like generics very much, but forget their preferences where they should be generic.

For example, the general concept of weapon parts and ammunition, German designers have always regarded them as garbage needs that they don't care about.

However, in the main function of the weapon system, the requirements of the German military suddenly insisted on universality.

For example, fighter jets have to take into account both high and low altitudes, for example, what is even more desperate: let medium-range bombers take into account dive bombing...

These persistence killed a lot of "requirements" of the original simple weapon design, and finally forced the German mechanical designers to play the black technology to perfection, but wasted the most precious time.

Just imagine, if you don't waste so much precious time on a lot of useless designs, maybe Germany will really produce a lot of weapons comparable to the classics of the Allies.

At least, it is not too difficult for German engineers who can put four engines into two engine compartments to design a bomber comparable to the B-17.

The topic is back to the sad DB series engine - in the end, the engine used in the ME-109 put into use is the improved 605 of DB.

In fact, there is no essential difference between the DB605 and the DB601. The main difference is that the displacement is slightly increased, the cylinder compression ratio is slightly increased... Two fancy things have been added, MW50 and GM1.

The increase in displacement is obviously a thankless move. The two black-tech plug-ins, the MW50 and the GM1, are really effective.

MW50 can avoid deflagration and play a role similar to an intercooler. GM1 increases the oxygen content entering the cylinder and plays a role similar to secondary boosting...

But unfortunately, the German engineers who tried to use these two fancy things to make DB take into account the high and low altitudes, once again, lost more than the gains.

Although the data of the DB engine is OK when using the MW50, the MW50 can only be used for a maximum of 20 minutes. Men know that 20 minutes can be embarrassing sometimes...

After listening to Yuan Xiansheng's "Magic Sound Washing Ears" for an hour, Tan Ke decided to follow the head of state firmly, study hard and work hard for the construction of the Third Reich...

Even under the persuasion of the Fuhrer, Tan Ke put forward his own suggestion: "My Fuhrer, I think you should hold a brand-new aircraft research and development meeting."

"And personally presided over this meeting, pointing out the future path for imperial aircraft engines and aircraft design and manufacturing."

"Your understanding and knowledge of aircraft and the engines they use has surpassed that of engineers in most professional fields, and I personally benefited a lot from this conversation."

"I will support you and start the design of the new aircraft immediately. My head of state!" When Tan Ke left, he still had an expression of admiration on his face.

It is obviously much easier to fool technicians than to fool politicians. At least if you come up with some dry goods, as long as you persuade them, you will gain their attention to a corresponding degree.

Or in other words, when they find that they can't fool you with their technology, they will treat you as someone who understands, and will not dare to fool you easily.

After closing the door, Li Le glanced at the clock hanging on the wall, only to realize that it was already midnight. He yawned ~www.wuxiaspot.com~ and ended his busy day.

It is obviously a tiring job to fight with these famous people in front of you, or to do things that the head of state can't do while trying to pretend to be the head of state.

He stretched himself, then called the secretary Bowman, listened to tomorrow's arrangements, and added some meetings that he was interested in, and then went back to his bedroom.

Looking at the ceiling in front of him, Li Le was still full of unreal illusions. He didn't know if what he was doing would change the future, or if he would be caught and hanged tomorrow.

There are still too many things he wants to improve. In fact, Germany's seemingly defying industrial technology system during World War II, in the eyes of later generations, most of them are mavericks that distort the technology tree.

German engineers either came up with immature technologies decades later, or they chose a seemingly smooth road of no return.

You said that during World War II, was the German industrial system good? It's actually pretty shit. When the Germans played with the diameter of the tank and artillery, they were able to make 71 times the length of the sky.

This means that the industrial strength of Germany can barely support it. If you switch to another country, you will have been forced to death by your own design engineers.

Similarly, Li Le, who was lying in bed, realized that his dream of German technological improvement was really a huge and desperate systematic project.

People say that the Tiger tank is an industrial disaster, but there are different opinions on how to improve it.

In the same way, from the pistols and rifles used by soldiers, to the huge aircraft tanks... There are so many weapons and systems that need to be improved. How could Li Le be able to do it alone?
