chapter 19
19 – Is there anyone besides me?
The next morning, Lily, as expected, clung to her.
“Yesterday was fun, right? The night view from the store is really cool. She did a good job of booking in advance.”
He clung to my arm and acted cute while reciting things that didn’t even exist. I had dinner in the student cafeteria with Cordelia and Hestia yesterday. I didn’t know the night view, but I could see the lights of the dormitory.
In order not to think of anything else while watching her clinging to her arm, I had to recite a Buddhist chant saying that this woman looks fine on the outside but is black on the inside.
To be honest, Wilhelm’s gaze at me was pleasant, but Hestia and Cordelia’s gaze was unbearable. To be honest, I don’t really care about other students’ eyes. What do I know
As soon as I sat down, Hestia brushed off the sleeve of her school uniform that Lily was holding on to as if brushing off her dirt.
“It is dusty.”
I looked at Hestia because I wanted something, and she replied casually. However, her thumbnail is exceptionally short and rough. It caught my eye because her nails were always kept clean. I quietly held her hand. Should I buy an ointment that tastes bitter during lunchtime and apply it? At my touch, she screamed this time and didn’t remove her hand.
Cordelia looked at our strange attitude with great displeasure. Hestia, who hates Lily’s approaches but eventually accepts them all, and Hestia, who only watches them. She insistently asked what the hell had happened between us since yesterday. Cordelia must have been bewildered that she had acted more daringly than she had come forward as if she were going to negotiate with Lily. Hestia, whom she thought was her friend, was probably more frustrated because she kept her silence.
“Hestia. Wouldn’t it be okay if I told Lady Deneb?”
Actually, I asked her a little bit about her yesterday. After all, Cordelia is also Wilhelm’s ex-fiancée, so she’s not entirely unrelated. However, Hestia’s attitude was firm.
“This is a problem between the three of us. I don’t want to drag her in when she must have suffered enough.”
She cut my question like a knife. Hestia seems to think that Cordelia also suffered violence from Wilhelm for a long time.
I know from talking to her Cordelia that her betrothed life was never smooth and that Wilhelm never liked her. She certainly wouldn’t have clung or hit her. Wilhelm is a crazy, perverted bastard who is obsessed with and violent towards people he likes, but he is not a psychopathic criminal who is obsessed with and violent towards people he has no interest in.
But Cordelia hid it from Hestia. Because she wanted to be a support for Hestia, who was having a hard time because of me in the past. Hestia is pretty, kind, and smart, but honestly, she’s not quick-witted. She must have been able to cheat somehow even with the lies of Cordelia, who was filthy clumsy.
That fact went round and round and returned to Hestia’s strong will to get Cordelia away from this incident.
It was only in her imagination, but Cordelia suffered from the prince’s violence for a long time. It is impossible for her kind-hearted Cordelia to bring her, who is barely recovering, into an incident involving the violence of her crown prince once again. Even if it makes her friends hate her a little.
“Are you really not going to tell me?”
“I’m sorry. But I can’t tell you.”
Cordelia’s expression is very rotten. She sat with her back turned away from us, as though she had pouted very firmly.
–
Basic swordsmanship I time. Cordelia gritted her teeth and ignored me. Everyone knows that I’m an ass who doesn’t have anyone else taking classes with me anyway. No matter how much I speak, they don’t even listen.
“Lady Deneb.”
She ignored it.
“Cordelia von Deneb.”
I ignored it again.
“Oh really. Cordelia!”
I finally heard Cordelia’s voice after calling her by name.
“Why do you call people names without permission?”
“You are finally looking at me.”
“It’s finally Nabal, and I have no intention of talking to someone who is hiding secrets from me.”
She was adamant. It looks pretty badly sprained. It seems like it would make me feel bad too. But I did not call her to convince her of her pouting.
“Lady Deneb. There is no relationship in the world where there is no secret. Rather, because we are friends, there are secrets we want to hide.”
“Why not? At least I have no secrets from Hestia, right?”
Cordelia said confidently. There are no secrets, there are no secrets. I immediately remember the words she said last time.
“No, Lady Deneb. Didn’t you tell me last time that you had never talked to Hestia while talking about swordsmanship and Crown Prince?”
“That, that!”
She didn’t even think about it, so her face turned red.
“Anyway, that’s no secret! That… , that… okay. Be considerate!”
“What kind of ridiculous sophistry is that?”
I looked at her dumbfounded. She, too, squirms and squirms with her face blushing, ashamed of what she has spit out.
“It’s not sophistry!”
“Then what should I call you? Isn’t bullsh*t a bit harsh? How about an excuse?”
“It’s not a secret anyway!”
At my words, she had her tantrum. I am the one who wants to have a tantrum. I was thinking of having a conversation with her in a very calm and common sense way and trying to calm her down, but I start screaming. No, I’m sure the last time we were talking about Hestia, how could someone who seemed so grown-up turn into a child so quickly?
“Tell me honestly. Where is the real Lady Deneb?”
“What do you mean?!”
“Where is the grown-up Lady Deneb who told me last time that we should solve the problem with Hestia together and ask her directly?”
“That’s me!”
“Don’t lie. How can a person’s mental age drop so quickly? Lady Deneb was a grown-up person who gave me good advice, not a child-like person who screamed and spread sophistry like this.”
Cordelia trembled as if she had nothing to say in response to my words. It was actually the right time for me to appease her, but why did it end like this? When she talks to her, I feel childish without even realizing it.
“Hey, can you be quiet?”
I’m still having trouble with Cordelia, but someone else is arguing….
“Ah, Your Highness Wilhelm.”
It was Wilhelm. I can see the clown twitching despite his cold expression, as if he is excited about attacking me in front of others. I managed my expression appropriately.
“What a fuss in the sacred learning arena. Because of you, your classmates are having trouble preparing for class.”
I’m f*cking. Right away, before Wilhelm opened his mouth, everyone besides us was gathering in twos and threes and talking. If you think of the break time of any high school 2nd grade classroom right now, you can see how absurd he is saying. How can you keep 18-year-olds together and be quiet when you don’t particularly control them?
“Oh, yes. Sorry. I will be careful.”
I roughly bowed my head. I avoid sh*t because I’m afraid, but I avoid it because it’s dirty. Besides, he wasn’t usually sh*t. He beats and bites the woman he likes, but loses his emotions and is kidnapped and imprisoned…. It’s not usually a weird kid. Through my conversation with her Seol-ah, I had made up my mind that once this was over, she would never have anything to do with him.
“eeeik… !”
But Cordelia seemed to feel more anger than her filth towards the sh*t. Standing next to me, her body trembles. Hestia, her few friends, is a secret, and she ostracizes herself and tries to argue with me, who must be sharing secrets, but she is robbed without even realizing it. And finally, her ex-fiancé Wilhelm, who didn’t want to see her, personally challenged her.
I pounced in the direction of slightly covering her body. I really want to decline the situation where she is angry. Seeing her on the verge of bursting her anger and me covering her, Wilhelm laughed and then turned around and disappeared as she was. Fall down on the road and break the back of your head.
I asked when Cordelia’s breathing, wheezing beside her, had calmed down as he was surrounded by students.
“Lady Deneb. Are you calm?”
“Yes. I hate both Hestia and you, but I hate that bastard the most.”
It wasn’t a very appropriate answer to the question, but I could tell from Cordelia’s calm tone that her anger had subsided. Cordelia trembled very much at Wilhelm.
“I was asking just in case.”
“What is it?”
“In any case, by any chance, Her Highness Wilhelm made an attempt to threaten Lady Deneb by revealing his violent tendencies….”
“So you got it right?”
She dismissed my careful choice of vocabulary.
“Yes.”
“No. I didn’t hit him though. I would have felt better on the inside if I’d rather hit and fight.”
I wiped her heart at Cordelia’s answer. After seeing her reaction, I asked her just in case, but luckily she didn’t seem to be that stupid.
“Then would it be all right if I ask you one more question?”
“What else?”
“You think a man who hits or bites the woman he likes is s*xy….”
“Are you crazy?!”
She was very flagship.
“You, you… ! Hestia, if you put your fingertips on her body, I will really kill you!”
“Not me!”
I managed to calm her down. Judging from her reaction, I don’t think their relationship would have worked out so well without Lily. Her castle seems to be in an extremely normal direction.
“Lady Deneb. Don’t get involved with that bastard.”
“I want that too.”
“No matter what you argue about, just listen in one ear, let it out in the other, and complain to me.”
“What is that?”
She laughed as if I sounded like a joke. I’m not kidding. Later, if the incident that Seol-ah was talking about happens, I plan to beat Cordelia to her heart’s content when no one is watching.
Of course there would be hostility as a sub-male, but more than that, he knew too much about the human bottom of Wilhelm. I didn’t really want to know how gross and dangerous a male yandere actually is.
“I’m not kidding. I’m going to hit you sometime.”
My words made her laugh even louder. Is it good just thinking about it? It seems to be a little more relaxed than before. I took advantage of her timing and poured out all the things she wanted to say to her. The original payment is timing. I remember the motive of the company commander who posted a vacation payment after being robbed by the battalion commander, and was criticized so much that his stomach burst.
“Lady Deneb. After all, even the best of friends can have secrets. No, on the contrary, close friends have secrets that are difficult to reveal. I think you know what I’m talking about. Hestia won’t tell you anything because she’s afraid it will hurt you. It’s like Hestia didn’t tell her anything because she wanted you to be her support.”
She listened quietly to my story. After quite a long silence, she opened her mouth.
“I know what you mean. I won’t whine for you to teach me any more.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Why are you sorry? As you said, this is unavoidable.”
Why are you sorry? I’m sorry for keeping my mouth shut while knowing everything. In fact, even now, she just wants to tell Hestia that Cordelia has never been loved by the crown prince, and that she has never been beaten. But isn’t it a bit odd for Cordelia to tell me the secret she’s been hiding so far?
I thought as I swallowed the truth that was filling up to the tip of my chin. It seems that if you are too considerate of Hestia, Cordelia, or your friends, things get twisted like this.
