chapter 13
13 – Class begins
A bear-like man enters the classroom. In spite of his clean-shaven face and his hair that has been flipped over with pomade, there is a strong sense of wildness. It is the image itself that comes to mind when thinking of equipment in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. But now I trimmed my beard.
“Gather in the center!”
The fantasy equipment let out a lion’s roar. The students who had been chatting in groups of threes and threes gathered at the center of the classroom at once at that tremendous volume. Cordelia and I also stopped chatting and headed there.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Helford, who served in the Imperial Guard Knights. It’s been 3 years since I’ve been an academy teacher. I’m counting on you.”
The teacher, who introduced himself as Helford, laughed heartily. Judging by the fact that he did not introduce his last name, he must have come from a commoner. Considering that the Royal Guard is the most elite unit anywhere in the world, there is no doubt about his skill.
“First of all, those who have never held a sword before, get out to the left.”
He immediately shared with the students after a brief self-introduction. At Helford’s instructions, the sandals we saw earlier got out of the way. Cordelia is also caught in the gap.
“I am in charge of the basic swordsmanship class and teach you all, but I cannot teach you all the same way. Even students who have never held a sword in their lives, and students who have been wielding a sword for over 10 years, if they are in the first year, they will be thrown together in a lecture called basic swordsmanship.”
He grumbled in dissatisfaction. Definitely inefficient. Because Cordelia and I cannot take classes at the same level.
“So on the first day, we are going to conduct a simple sparring to find out your skills. I’m sorry to those who have never held a sword before, but wait a while. The clothes and black trainers will bring them, so each of you take what suits you. The locker room is right across from the classroom, as some students may have seen before. From the next class, change before the start.”
Just as Helford finished his sentence, several hulking men entered the classroom. They put down the basket they were holding. The clothes were put in baskets. It is a dull gray training suit. The big guys who put down the basket and went out of the classroom came back into the classroom after a while with a bunch of swords in their arms.
“It was prepared according to the standard of the Black Empire Army. Since this is a basic swordsmanship, this sword would be sufficient, but if you want to use a personal item separately, please come to us in advance. I will allow it in my judgment.”
I didn’t prepare my own sword. Anyway, the sword used at home is also an ordinary sword used by soldiers. Perhaps that sword would suffice.
“Don’t worry, you killed me beforehand. If you get hit, you’ll get bruises, but you won’t be cut.”
Helford chose a sword, unsheathed it, and showed it to us. As he said, he did not feel any anticipation in the day. Still, getting hit by an iron club like that usually wouldn’t end in pain.
“Receive the clothes and swords in turn, change your clothes, and arrange them.”
After giving us instructions, he moved towards the students who had been set aside earlier. I guess I’m thinking of giving them a basic theory lecture while we’re getting ready. Contrary to what it looks like, he is a person who uses his time carefully.
I roughly waited for my turn and went forward to receive the sword and clothes. They didn’t line up separately, but it wasn’t too confusing because they were nobles and elites. Everyone knows how to keep order.
“Mikhail. You are taking this class too.”
After I came out, someone started talking to me. I turned my head toward the voice.
“Your Highness the Crown Prince.”
It was Wilhelm. He is crumpling his handsome face unluckily. Rather than that, why are you talking like this now that we met each other’s eyes earlier?
“You treated me like that yesterday, and now you have to be polite.”
“Since we are classmates, it is Your Highness who told us to take it easy.”
Why are you arguing with this bastard? I responded moderately. Yesterday, I did a sudden rush, but I didn’t do it without thinking. I have nothing to complain about him.
We are classmates at the time of admission decision. Although formal, within the academy we are of equal status. Besides, I’m not too far behind him. He is the heir to one grand duchy in the empire. Killing me personally is difficult unless I commit a really serious crime or the emperor rises. I don’t know what kind of trick they used to cancel the admission…. Anyway, he is never in a position where he can unilaterally persecute me. That’s why you can’t openly speak half words or blow a jukbang.
“Do whatever you want. I spoke to you because I had something to say.”
“Do it.”
“Lily is mine. He’s not a good opponent for you to approach. Don’t mess with her anymore.”
He opened his eyes. Is this the main character blinded by love? Because of this, he looked at me badly from earlier.
The bean pods are so scary. Seeing the situation just now, he must have felt that I was messing around. I was dumbfounded and laughed.
“What’s so funny?”
“Yes. Your Highness, take Lady Adamas. I would like you to take some.”
“Are you kidding me right now?”
At my playful reply, the anger in Wilhelm’s eyes flared up even more. What kind of prince is this single-celled bastard? Seriously, I started to worry about the future of the empire. Originally, I thought that ropan tyrants and crazy characters were very smart and capable characters, but it seems that this is not particularly the case.
“First of all, Lady Adamas is not an object. It means that it is not something that anyone should have or do. And when did I come? Lady Adamas approached me to be friends.”
Wilhelm got angry at my words that followed.
“Didn’t you understand what I was saying!”
I’m guessing it’s saying don’t hold on to the pods and get out of the way. It’s dirty, so it’s dirty. In the first place, I didn’t really want to be close to Lily.
“Oh, yes. All right. I will never get close to Lady Adamas from now on. Is it?”
“Be sure to keep those words.”
Wilhelm looked away from me as if he was satisfied.
I am also very welcome to not get close to Lily. First of all, Hestia hates it. Besides, I’m afraid to be close to a woman I don’t know inside. Did Wilhelm know what kind of woman she was? Looking at her attitude now, even if the bean pods are stuck on, it seems like they’ll stick to her because it’s nice to see her like that.
After waiting a few more minutes after the conversation with Wilhelm, Joe the Experienced was ready. Helford sent Beginner Joe up to the wall to seat him while he stood in the middle of the room. He probably wants to show them the sparring of experienced people.
“Come forward in order.”
Helford said, standing in the middle. The male student standing in the front trembled and stepped forward. She must have been the first opponent, so she seems to be very nervous.
“Loren, a knight from the family of Actaeon… “
“I have introduced myself. Start.”
Helford interrupted the boy. Lauren blah blah took a deep breath and pounced on Helford.
He was such a powerful man that it was hard to believe that he had been trembling so much. After exchanging a few brief battles, his sword aimed for Helford’s side and stabbed it sharply. However, Helford let go of his sword and continued to flow like water. In the blink of an eye, Helford’s black was on his neck.
“Your basic skills are solid, but if you stare at it like that, anyone can block your attack. To enter. Sit over there.”
Helford pointed at Beginner Joe.
“Thank you.”
He walked out with a pretty bright expression on his face. It was a short workshop, but I think it was because I realized something. I thought of Kyle, the family knight who taught me. They say that they don’t think much about training, and that they get used to it by just doing it.
I watched the other students fight with their eyes wide open. The students in front of me went out one by one, finished sparring, and headed to their seats. But there was no income whatsoever.
It’s not long before my turn. I slightly loosened my wrists and ankles. While concentrating on stretching for a while, the classroom buzzes.
“Thank you very much.”
Wilhelm greeted from the center of the classroom. Even Helford, who had been maintaining a high profile, just kept his mouth shut, as if he couldn’t bear to do that to the crown prince. However, when even the teachers notice it, they say that the equality of students is a formality.
Just before the sword was fired, Wilhelm looked at me and smiled viciously. He wondered if he had seen it wrong, but that unlucky laugh was clearly aimed at me. I’ve got quite a bit of ugly hair. Does it mean that you should keep an eye on your own skills? Really no luck
However, apart from my personal impressions, Wilhelm’s swordsmanship skills were objectively excellent. He competed with Helford longer than any other student before him. Certainly he deserved to be proud. Wilhelm and Helford clashed like that for a long time.
And at the crucial moment, Wilhelm’s sword was blocked by Helford’s sword. The strong shock froze Wilhelm. Helford aimed his frozen neck.
“I lost.”
Wilhelm looked startled at the point of Helford’s sword pointed at his neck and admitted defeat.
“Excellent.”
Helford also sent Wilhelm in the direction of the beginners, leaving only one word that he was excellent without any special criticism. He took one look at me on the way to his seat and smiled. You seem to care about me from a while ago, but it’s really ugly.
I erased Wilhelm’s ridicule from his head and instead kept only his swordsmanship in my head. Since I flew to the fantasy world as a man, I have to fulfill my dream of becoming a sword master with a pretty wife.
Luckily, I’m in an environment that’s perfect for both. I’m not used to using a sword yet, but I’ve already embodied it, so if I work hard for a few years, it won’t come back into my head.
“Next!”
My turn came before I knew it. I took a deep breath and stepped out to the center of the classroom.
“Thank you very much.”
Helford didn’t say anything, probably because I was a little burdened. I thought he would be a commoner and looks like a bandit, but he was more afraid of power than I thought.
I drew my sword from my waistband. Heavy feeling. Power goes into the body. It feels like someone is manipulating me with an invisible thread. Mana is not used. I decided not to use mana in this Dalian. Fortunately, I was able to control this much.
I, no, Mikhail took a big step forward and swung his sword from the top right to the bottom left. Kang! Helford’s sword and Mikhail’s sword collided loudly, creating a metallic sound. My hands hurt. But there is no such thing as missing a sword here.
Mikhail instantly straightened the sword, which had shaken greatly from the impact. And he stabbed quickly into Helford’s hollow flank. Kang! This time, the sword bounced off with a strong metallic sound. Helford had no gaps.
Mikhail stepped back slightly to catch his breath. This time, Helford took the offensive. He cut his sword vertically as if splitting firewood. Mikhail raised his sword and blocked his. Helford did not back down and pressed with force. Veins rise on Helford’s forearm the size of a woman’s thigh. The shock applied to her whole body tingled like electricity. The difference in muscle strength between Helford and Mikhail was clear.
If you fight like this, you will lose. With judgment comes action. Mikhail slightly changed the direction of the force. Helford’s sword flowed through Mikhail’s blade. As if Helford had already noticed Mikhail’s plan, he let go of his power.
As a result, both Mikhail and Helford were lulled. The two faced each other at the same time, as if they had promised. Kang! Kang! Several shock sounds come and go. A small spark bursts out as the metal collides with each other.
“Haap!”
Helford swung his sword with a great spirit as if he was about to finish it. No matter how sharp he is, he’s the least fractured from a direct hit like that. Mikhail raised his sword to block Helford’s attack.
“Huh?”
But there was no crash. Unbeknownst to me, a stupid sound came out.
A momentary misjudgment decided the game. It was an instant. Helford had no intention of attacking with all his might from the start. He was just trying to fool Michael. His sword rode through Mikhail’s sword like a snake and aimed at Mikhail’s neck.
“I lost.”
Mikhail, no I said. Apart from the way he looked at Wilhelm and me, Helford was a real talent.
“Very good.”
Helford praised me as I put the sword in the scabbard and headed to my seat. I think Mikhail’s skills were very good. If I dare to evaluate, he seems to be half ahead of Wilhelm.
That means you have to do this yourself someday. The sparring just now relied on Mikhail’s body from beginning to end. It’s like watching a first-person video through a VR device.
I naturally went to sit next to Cordelia. Anyway, the only person I know in this class is her.
The classroom is quiet. Everyone must have been holding their breath and watching the match. I looked at Wilhelm involuntarily. His eyes are terrifying It’s about to catch me I thought Ji was the main character, but he must have been pissed that I took the spotlight.
“Wow. You do better than you think.”
“Thank you. Still, it’s not enough.”
Cordelia praised. I shuddered in my humility. It’s not a lie. I don’t know Mikhail, but I’m lacking.
“Did you do something to that?”
She took a moment to choose her words, and asked me if she felt Wilhelm’s gaze on her. ‘That’ is not a person at all.
“I didn’t do anything.”
I answered honestly. I didn’t do anything to Wilhelm. He does it all by himself.
“Then why are you like that?”
“I don’t know either. If I had to find a reason, jealous men are ugly.”
Wilhad Chuhelm.
