I'm The Evil Crow God

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

'I'm an egg? So… I'm not human?' The realization struck me as I found myself surrounded by an endless world of darkness. It felt confining, suffocating, a prison I instinctively knew I had to escape. My body, unfamiliar and alien, moved on its own, my head pushing against the unyielding barrier around me.

Crack.

The faintest sound of progress echoed in the void, spurring me onward. Again and again, I struck the hard surface, each impact chipping away at the darkness. Bit by bit, cracks spiderwebbed across my world. With every fracture, the barrier grew weaker, the light beyond shining brighter.

Finally, with one last desperate push, the shell shattered. I tumbled into the light, gasping for air. A cool breeze swept over me, and I instinctively let out a sharp, shrill cry, an unfamiliar sound that surprised me as much as it announced my arrival.

Before I could make sense of what was happening, a large black crow appeared above me, its glossy feathers shimmering in the sunlight. It tilted its head, its piercing eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made me shudder. Then, without hesitation, it lowered its beak to my open mouth and dropped something inside.

I froze, horrified and disgusted, the remnants of my human mindset screaming at the indignity. But instinct took over, overriding my revulsion. My throat worked involuntarily, and I swallowed the morsel.

The taste was… strange, foreign. But it was food, and I was starving. Hunger gnawed at me, silencing my inner protests. Without thinking, I cried out again, louder this time, demanding more.

After eating my fill, I was left with nothing to do. The world around me was still unfamiliar, but I recognized the confines of a nest, soft twigs and feathers cushioning my small, fragile body. It was a crow's nest, perched high above the ground, and I seemed to be the first of my siblings to hatch.

Looking around, I noticed my parents: a mother crow and a father crow, their glossy black feathers shimmering in the sunlight as they perched protectively nearby. Their sharp eyes scanned the surroundings for threats, and I couldn't help but feel a strange sense of security. Thankfully, I remembered that crows were generally attentive parents, unlike some other birds, they rarely harmed their offspring. That thought was oddly comforting.

But with no siblings to interact with and nothing else to occupy my mind, boredom set in quickly. My tiny, developing body felt heavy, and sleep began to tug at me. I nestled deeper into the nest, letting the gentle sway of the branches lull me.

Just as I was on the verge of drifting off, a sharp, unfamiliar sound echoed in my mind.

[Bonding complete. Greeting, host. I am the Crow God Becoming System, here to assist you on your journey to becoming a Crow God.]

The voice echoed in my mind, clear and resonant, as though it were speaking directly to my soul. A translucent screen appeared before me, glowing faintly against the natural light filtering into the nest.

After filling my stomach and pondering what to do next, this sudden development took me by surprise. I blinked at the screen, my tiny body still nestled in the comforting twigs of the nest.

[To provide a brief overview of my capabilities, I possess three primary functions.]

The screen shifted, displaying neat, concise text as the system began to explain:

[Function Number 1: Authority Training.

Although you hold authority over various domains, this power is dormant and undeveloped. To fully unlock and wield your authority, you must train and hone these abilities. Like a blade, your potential grows sharper with refinement.]

The words floated before me, carrying a weight of significance. Training? Abilities? The prospect was both exciting and daunting, especially as I grappled with my new reality.

[Function Number 2: Storage.

You can store anything you are touching. However, there are two limitations: the maximum size of an individual item and the total number of items you can store.]

[Function Number 3: Target List.

A hit list will be provided, detailing the types of MCs you must collect as part of your payment. Once you have fulfilled your payment obligations and completed your Authority Training, the system will deactivate and disappear.]

The system's explanation concluded, and I couldn't help but frown. The mention of a Target List made me uneasy, a reminder of the deal I'd struck with the Outer God. A cold knot of tension coiled in my chest, but I shoved it aside. 'There's no point in worrying. I made my choice. Now I have to follow through.'

"Show me the Target List," I commanded, my voice trembling slightly despite my best effort to sound composed.

The screen flickered to life, and the names began to appear, each one more daunting than the last:

[1. Naruto

2. Goku (Must)

3. Saitama

4. The Infinite Number of Superman (Must)

5. The Infinite Number of Batman

6. The Infinite Number of Wonder Woman

7. The Infinite Number of The Flash

8. Meliodas

9. The Infinite Number of Thor

10. The Infinite Number of Spider-Man

11. The Infinite Number of The Thing

12. The Infinite Number of Captain America

13. Rimuru Tempest

14. Ichigo Kurosaki

15. The Infinite Number of Ben Tennyson

16. Natsu...]

The list seemed endless, stretching far beyond anything I could have prepared for. My eyes darted over the names, my stomach sinking further with every line. Heroes, legends, beings of incomprehensible power.

The system's voice echoed in my mind, sharp and unyielding: [Targets marked with (Must) are mandatory and cannot be skipped. In total, you must capture 10 targets from this list. Failure to claim at least one target every 10 years will result in your contract being voided and your existence erased.]

My heart pounded in my chest as the weight of the task settled over me. These weren't ordinary individuals; they were icons of strength, willpower, and resolve. Each one carried unimaginable power, and most had armies, worlds, or even universes backing them.

"Troublesome," I muttered under my breath, my mind already churning with plans and possibilities. "But it's not impossible."

If I wanted to become the Crow God, I'd have to face this challenge head-on. There was no room for fear or hesitation now. I had struck the deal, and there was no turning back.

Curious about my potential, I shifted my focus to the Authority Training section. A new screen materialized before me, displaying my current stats:
