I'm Really Not A Nen Exorcist (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 520: Chapter 520 Full Moon

Not only did he set rules that worked greatly in the examinees' favor, but Moses had even given them numerous chances to succeed...

But even if it is a shadow clone with only one-third of its strength, it is not something that Killua and the others can easily break through.

And that's to say nothing of the clone at two-thirds power—or the real Moses.

Only after participating in the test did the examinees truly feel the difficulty of the third phase.

It's impossibly difficult!

However-

Alongside realizing the test's high difficulty, they also saw the key to passing hanging tantalizingly before them.

They had countless opportunities to try, so as long as they kept pushing, they would eventually reach that key suspended just out of reach.

In other words…

Persistence is victory!

That's right.

Moses is also a human being, and it is impossible for him to stay in top shape indefinitely under such rules.

Their advantage lay in their numbers and the fact that they didn't need to worry about injury.

Thus, the key to passing was to...

Persist, and then persist again, increasing their frequency of attacks until Moses's performance began to falter.

It didn't take long for the exhausted examinees lying on the ground, worn out after their prolonged, unsuccessful attempts, to realize this truth.

It wasn't just them who would get tired—Moses would too!

In two separate locations, similar scenes played out.

The members of Kurapika's team and Killua's team lay sprawled on the ground, completely drained. But they didn't have to worry about the attacks of their shadow clones and could just lie on the ground to recover their strength.

The shadow clone just watched them quietly, and transmitted the real-time images to Moses through the shared vision.

'One day doesn't seem like enough.'

Moses observed the crescent moon in the depths of his consciousness.

If he wanted to 'charge' it to a full moon, it would take at least two days and nights of grueling effort from the examinees.

This tug-of-war-style test had originally seemed sufficient to Moses, and as long as the examinees displayed the expected level of skill, he would hand over the number plates.

But now he'd changed his mind.

Before ending this test, he was determined to make the crescent moon a full moon and see what reward he might obtain.

'It would be nice if I could get the reward of increasing the upper limit of the Manifested Aura again...'

Moses imagined the possibilities in his mind.

An hour later.

After a break, Kurapika's and Killua's teams launched yet another assault on the shadow clones.

Fortunately, Killua had a strong resistance to drugs, otherwise, with Geretta's misplaced, tranquilizer-coated blow dart, they might have lost a team member right from the start.

Both teams threw all their effort into taking the number plates from the shadow clones, pushing themselves to their limits.

However, no matter how hard they tried or how thoroughly they adjusted their strategies, they simply couldn't overcome the shadow clones.

As the sun set and night fell.

Both teams collapsed in exhaustion once more.

They were beginning to understand why Moses had established such rules.

The intent was to give them hope, so they wouldn't despair and give up due to the overwhelming strength gap.

If this had been a real fight, who knew how many lives it would take to seize a number plate from him.

Time passes-

In the blink of an eye, it was the afternoon of the third day.

There is less than half a day left until the end of the test, but no team has yet been able to grab a number plate from Moses.

On the airship.

Netero, along with several examiners including Menchi and Satotz, were sitting in a monitoring room.

More than ten screens hanging on the wall are broadcasting the process of the third phase in real time.

These real-time images come from more than a dozen members of the Review Committee on the island. Their job is to secretly observe the test progress and, along the way, provide the monitoring images to Netero and the others on the airship through some instruments.

Of course, applicants like Hanzo, Killua, Kurapika, and Gon could sense the Review Committee's members lurking in the shadows.

"To maintain such control and stamina from that distance… It's astounding."

Buhara stared intently at the shadow clones on the screens, full of admiration.

Over two and a half days, Moses's Nen Clones had always maintained amazing control accuracy and endurance.

This made it difficult for Buhara to determine if Moses was a Manipulator or an Emitter...

The only thing that is certain is that Moses's attainment in Nen has reached a terrifying level.

Satotz and Menchi remained composed.

Unlike Buhara, who was visibly astonished, they had a clearer understanding of Moses's capabilities.

"Hoho."

Netero stroked his beard, a glimmer of anticipation appearing in the depths of his aged eyes.

After two years, Moses's return to the public eye has indeed brought a lot of surprises, which makes Netero begin to look forward to their spar after the Hunter Exam ended.

"There are still six hours left before the third phase is over."

Beans remarked, watching the monitor with a hint of worry.

During these two days, except for Hisoka who was slacking off, all other examinees had pushed themselves to the limit to try and snatch the number plates from Moses.

However, whether it was the real Moses or the shadow clone, they were like insurmountable mountains they couldn't hope to scale.

If this continues, Beans is worried that this year's examinees might fail the third phase entirely.

Considering the good quality of the examinees this year, it would be a pity if it ended like this.

In contrast, Netero showed no such concern.

He had always known Moses to be someone who was exceptionally good at judging the limits, so he doubted Moses would let this year's Hunter Exam end abruptly.

And, indeed, Beans's worries were unfounded.

Why?

Because the 'moon' deep in Moses's consciousness is almost fully charged.

If it weren't for this mysterious reward, Moses would have given the number plates away long ago.

'What kind of reward will it be?'

Once again, the seemingly invincible shadow clone exhausted the attacking examinees, leaving them sprawled on the ground. Moses took advantage of the half-time break to let his mind sink into the consciousness space and check the full moon that was about to take shape in the night sky.

He couldn't be sure what fueled the charging process.

Perhaps it required the examinees to experience his overwhelming strength continuously, or maybe he needed to maintain his defense without letting them breach it.

Anyway, as long as the number plate is still there, this seemingly satisfactory charging progress will not be interrupted.

And that was the fundamental reason Moses had kept going.

Now, it seemed like it was nearly complete.
