I’m Playing as a Nun.

Chapter 6 - Giving rest to a cat. (3)

As soon as I took out the spear, the woman before me slowly returned her distorted expression to normal and suddenly burst into a hollow laugh.

“Blood magic? Are you a vampire by any chance?”

That smile was none other than a blatant disregard directed at me.

As if she knew a lot about vampires, she burst into laughter, and soon, the woman slowly brushed her hair up with a leisurely expression.

“No wonder your skin is strangely pale. I thought they were extinct, but there was still a surviving one?”

The words that were eventually uttered were full of contempt and humiliation beyond mere disregard.

Originally, from the moment I took out the spear, an indiscriminate attack towards the woman should have started.

However, her words stimulated my curiosity and momentarily made my feet stop.

“Did they even know how to use that kind of magic? It’s been so long since I’ve seen a vampire that I can’t remember well.”

“You seem to know a lot about vampires?”

“Even though I look like this, I’m not someone who has lived a short life. I’ve dealt with them a lot.”

“Hmm, I see.”

“What, is that all you’re curious about? You must have a lot of things you want to ask about?”

As soon as she saw my lukewarm attitude, the woman looked quite startled.

As the woman said, if I were a real vampire born into this world, I would have asked a few more questions than the one I just asked.

But I’m not originally from this world, and the vampire race is just something that happened to get tangled up in my body.

“I’m not particularly interested. I don’t think it has anything to do with me.”

“…Are you being serious?”

“Of course. The past is the past, and the present is the present.”

“Ha, thinking like an inferior race…”

Even before the woman finished speaking, I gently set the spear’s tip and quickly moved my body.

The woman showed a momentary startled expression at my sudden movement.

Somehow, it seemed like the woman was trying to unsettle me by telling me about the past of vampires.

However, for me, who has nothing to do with them, it’s just a waste of time to say such things.

– Whoosh─!!

As soon as I reached the range, I widely swung the spear horizontally without hesitation, aiming at the woman’s neck.

Despite being a surprise attack, the woman narrowly avoided it and immediately greatly distanced herself from me.

“This crazy…”

– Whoosh─!!!

The next attack immediately follows the woman who still hasn’t properly understood the situation.

Although the woman kept getting farther away every time I got close, I kept a close eye on her movements without letting my guard down until the end.

“Wait, you… Do you really think such a crude attack will work?”

“Yes.”

Despite the woman’s mocking words that kept coming, I didn’t pay any attention to it at all and kept swinging the spear.

Now, I have the skill of blood transfusion, but I didn’t think this basic long-range skill would work against a demon.

So I had no choice but to just move my body recklessly, trusting only my level and stats.

“For a vampire─!!”

As if she didn’t like my consistently calm attitude, the woman finally started attacking using the tentacles that sprouted from her back.

The tentacles were shot out considerably fast, and I reflexively twisted my body slightly to avoid them.

However, as if the tentacles had predicted my movement, they naturally followed where I would move and continued the attack.

“Although you use quite a unique technique, a vampire is still a vampire in the end. There’s a reason why they almost went extinct.”

“Your tongue has been very long since earlier. Are you at ease?”

“Did you expect me to be flustered against an inferior vampire?”

“Well.”

“But thanks to you, I discovered that vampires are still alive, so it didn’t become a completely meaningless meeting.”

Even amid a fierce battle, the woman, who kept opening her mouth endlessly as if she had a motor attached to it, was starting to get tiresome.

I was dealing with her while doing a dangerous tightrope walk, thinking that I might be able to get some useful information about demons─

I think I was mistaken.

“After killing you, I will also kill the remaining vampires who are hiding…”

“You really talk too much.”

“…What?”

Before I knew it, there were grotesquely scattered lumps of severed tentacles around me.

It was a heavy and fast attack that definitely felt like a demon, but the difference in levels could not be ignored.

“Now it’s about time to prepare meals for the children─.”

“Uh, uh…? Why are my tentacles…”

“I don’t think I can keep you company any longer.”

With that last word, I unhesitatingly grabbed the spear properly and calmly stabbed the tip of the spear into the neck of the woman who was spacing out.

Not a single drop of blood leaked from the neck that was easily penetrated like tofu, and it was absorbed into the spear and flowed directly into me.

“If you had known more, you would have lived a little longer.”

“How… How could I, a demon… lose to a mere vampire…”

Despite the considerable number of attacks that continued during that short time, there was not a single scratch on my body.

Realizing this fact belatedly, the woman gnashed her teeth resentfully even while her blood was being sucked.

Soon, she began to hideously deny the reality that she had been easily defeated by the vampire she had despised so much.

“Who… Who the hell are you…”

The woman’s last question was breathed out with difficulty just before her breath stopped.

To such a woman, I gently smiled and quietly answered.

“I am a nun.”

As soon as she heard my calm answer, the woman weakly burst into a hollow laugh and gradually slumped down.

I thought it would be quite difficult since she said she was a demon, but when I actually faced her, it wasn’t a big deal unexpectedly.

The part that I was most wary of in this woman was the tentacles.

But, its regeneration was slower than I thought. Furthermore, they did nothing particularly special other than being swung around.

“Amen.”

The woman’s body had already become a dried and twisted husk, void of any vitality.

As soon as the spear stuck in her neck was pulled out, the woman’s body scattered in the air like ashes.

It was a moment when the word “the end of a demon” was very well suited.

After finishing the job cleanly like that, the moment I was about to return to the church─

【Levinia Fallen Grace】

[Race] Vampire

[Level] 87

[Active Skill] Blood Transfusion

[Passive Skill] Rapid Regeneration

────────────

A transparent window popped up suddenly without any warning this time as well.

Wondering if there was any change again, I carefully examined the information written in it.

Then, the item that was simply written as [Skill] when I checked before.

Now it was divided into [Active] and [Passive].

“…Rapid Regeneration?”

Moreover, the passive skill called Rapid Regeneration was suddenly added without me knowing.

Even without looking at the explanation, I could easily tell what kind of skill it was by name.

But I couldn’t figure out why this skill was suddenly added to my abilities.

“Did I absorb the ability by any chance?”

Looking only at the current situation, it seems most appropriate to think I absorbed the opponent’s ability.

However, it conflicted with how I got Blood Transfusion, which I received before I hunted monsters.

“……”

Because of these questions, my mind was briefly confused.

But as the sudden tiredness made my mind dazed, I naturally began to empty my mind.

Anyway, it’s a good thing that a new skill has been created.

Especially if it’s a passive skill directly related to survival─.

– Thud

So, without even having a chance to think about the aftermath, I led my tired body and moved my steps back to the church.

Many aspects left me feeling uncomfortable, but something else made my head ache the most.

It was the fact that I had to prepare dinner as soon as I returned to the church.

Because no matter how big of an incident there was, I couldn’t let the children go hungry.

“If I had known, I should have quickly finished it and left…”

It just had to be a low-ranking demon who didn’t know much about what I was dealing with.

A belated regret rushes in.

.

.

.

“──!!”

“─!”

As soon as I returned to the church, I heard the urgent voices of the children quite noisily coming from inside the building.

Among them, Aizen’s voice was the loudest, so they seemed to be discussing a plan to save me.

“Th, that’s the only village closest to here…”

“No… No matter what, it’s too far… Even if we luckily bring someone, it will be too late by then…”

“I’m sorry… Because of me…”

– Creak

With the sound of rusty hinges, the door slowly opens.

As if reacting to that sound, I calmly entered the church.

The first thing that caught my eye was the three children huddled together on a long wooden bench, having a somewhat serious conversation.

“I’m back.”

“…?”

Then, showing a serene smile calmly, I quietly uttered a word.

Then, the children flinched simultaneously and began to hurriedly gather around Aizen.

“Le, Levi…?”

The one who noticed me first was Aizen, as expected.

Even though I was standing right in front of him unharmed, he kept rubbing his eyes as if he couldn’t believe it, which was very impressive.

“Sister…?”

“S, Sister…?”

At Aizen’s dumbfounded words, Ellie and Iris flinched again and carefully raised their heads.

There was an awkward silence between the children and me for a very brief moment.

But as soon as the children, who belatedly understood the situation, called out my name loudly and ran to me, I felt a sense of relief for some reason.

“Sister…!! It’s really you, right…?!”

“Hic… I’m glad… You’re alive and well…”

Unexpectedly, the atmosphere became quite heavy.

Since nothing happened, I tried to act somewhat brightly and lightly resolve the situation. Still, it didn’t go as easily as I wanted.

“I told you it would be fine. With Paellia, I’m not afraid of any demons.”

“S, still… still…”

“Sob…”

While I was comforting Ellie and Iris, who were snuggled in my arms like that.

Suddenly, I noticed Aizen standing a little distance from me with a confused expression.

“Aizen?”

Not only did he not react to my words, but he even slowly began to furrow his brows.

Soon, he even started taking inexplicable steps back and gradually lowered his head.

“What’s wrong, Aizen?”

“N, nothing… It’s nothing…”

My head tilted at Aizen’s behavior, which was suspicious beyond anything else.

Until just now, Aizen, who was having a normal conversation, became unnatural as soon as he discovered me entering the church.

“Are you doubting me by any chance?”
