I’m Not That Obsessive

Chapter 52

Chapter 52

“Leave before I report you.”

Geon-woo exercised his last bit of patience with Junman. After waking Junman up from among the drunk people, Geon-woo took him outside and notified him in a relatively calm manner.

It was early, so everyone was still passed out from sleep and alcohol. Junman was no exception, his breath reeking of alcohol with every exhale.

“Report what?”

Junman swayed. Seemingly unable to stand properly, he leaned against the building wall and scratched his messy hair.

“I’ll report you to the police for trespassing. I’ll give you two hours. Wake up your friends and leave immediately. Whether you get a hotel or not, that’s up to you. Don’t ever show up in front of me again.”

“…Wow.”

Junman finally grasped the situation. The plan to stay quietly until he got 300 million won had essentially ended when his friends arrived.

He thought 300 million was pocket change compared to what Geon-woo had. Although he didn’t know exactly how much Geon-woo’s assets were or how much he was earning at this moment, Junman had no intention of settling for just 300 million.

Why would he accept only 300 million when all of Geon-woo’s assets would be his if Geon-woo disappeared? So he decided to brazenly stay without caring about appearances.

“Little brother, you seem too young to understand, but you’ll regret this. You’ll deeply regret disrespecting your hyung.”

“Cut the crap and leave. I’m not joking, I’ll really call the police in two hours. Those guys…”

Geon-woo pointed at the closed door. Beyond the door, in the living room strewn with green soju bottles, Junman’s naked friends were sprawled out sleeping, unaware that the sun had risen.

There was a man sleeping while groping a woman’s breast, and another man sleeping with his face buried between another man’s thighs. A naked couple was lying embraced under the kitchen table. Geon-woo didn’t even want to understand why they were there.

“Take all of them and get out.”

Geon-woo felt like his house had become like a cabin contaminated by a serial killer. Even if all these people left, their traces would remain. He no longer wanted to live in this house.

“Are you threatening me? I’m telling you, you’ll really regret this.”

Unlike the fuming Geon-woo, Junman remained composed. Wearing only a triangular piece that could be either a swimsuit or underwear, he scratched his chest vigorously.

“Little brother, we’re nothing here in America. You might have gotten a bit famous this time, but it’s not that big a deal. But what about Mitchell?”

“…”

“I wonder about our great actor Mitchell, known not just in America but worldwide. What if I decide to target Mitchell? What if I have a way to send him to rock bottom?”

“…”

Geon-woo silently glared at his hyung. Seeing his brother close his mouth, Junman laughed flippantly. There was nothing to fear for someone who had a firm grip on a weakness.

“Aren’t you pitiful about Mitchell? He’s about to fall to rock bottom just for making the wrong friend?”

Junman thrust his face towards Geon-woo. Geon-woo found Junman’s gleeful expression more disgusting than the stench of alcohol assaulting his nose.

Conversely, the more Geon-woo grimaced in pain, the higher Junman’s lip corners rose.

Junman knew his brother very well. Right now, Geon-woo was in a state where he could do anything for Mitchell, who had become the target. He was the type who would readily hand over his entire fortune without hesitation if told that Mitchell wouldn’t be touched in exchange. His brother’s brain had gone that far.

That damn obsession, obsession!

Watching Geon-woo’s wavering eyes, Junman made a decision.

He didn’t need to kill his brother. He could monopolize his brother’s assets without taking unnecessary risks.

“What do you think you can do?”

Geon-woo forced out his voice. Seeing his brother pretending to be confident, Junman’s mouth itched to blab about what he had done.

“You know Mitchell had a gay scandal, right?”

“…”

“I know someone who’s a reporter for ‘The Show’. The best-selling weekly magazine in America.”

As he rolled his tongue pronouncing “The Show”, Geon-woo frowned. Satisfied with Geon-woo’s crumpling expression, Junman continued excitedly.

“I sold Mitchell to them. Mitchell’s private life.”

“What private life?”

“Rather than private life, it’s a crime. A crime. Mitchell sexually harassed me. It hasn’t been published as an article yet, but with one phone call, it’ll be on the headlines. They’re holding it back because I said I’d provide additional information.”

“…”

“But did Mitchell touch you too? Or have you already given it to him? You’re certainly capable of that and more.”

Junman looked Geon-woo up and down. The sarcasm didn’t stop.

“You’re the type to offer even your soul when you’re obsessed, so of course you must have spread your legs. Did it feel good? Getting fucked by a man? Shit. I want to fuck you once too. I wonder how tight your ass is.”

Geon-woo had been silently listening to all sorts of trashy words from his hyung, including swear words. However, even Geon-woo, who thought he had developed some immunity, couldn’t bear it this time.

Thwack.

The punch was instinctive. Any remaining familial affection crumbled under the humiliation received from his hyung.

“You bastard!”

Junman, who was hit in the face, didn’t hold back either. He returned the punch to the same spot where he was hit, causing Geon-woo to step back a couple of paces. Junman slapped Geon-woo’s cheek and punched him in the chest.

Geon-woo didn’t particularly resist, waiting for Junman to stop. He tasted blood in his mouth.

“You fucking bastard, how dare you punch me. Why? Are you angry because Mitchell touched me? But what can you do? Seems like he’s not satisfied with just you. That’s why he’s reaching out to me, your brother.”

“Can you take responsibility for what you said, hyung?”

Geon-woo asked in a weak voice. Junman wanted to spit on that defeated face.

“What if I can’t? You little shit, I’m going to stay here for a few more days. Report me or not, do as you like. The moment you do anything, I’ll make sure the article about Mitchell’s sexual harassment goes up immediately. I’ll do all the interviews. I’ll expose everything Mitchell did.”

Tsk. Junman clicked his tongue and touched his face where Geon-woo had hit him. On edge like a wolf ready to attack at any moment, he revealed his true purpose.

“Or you could give me money first. You can give me a few hundred thousand won right away, right? I don’t care if it’s cash or card, right now… No, wait. As your older brother, I shouldn’t be so cold-hearted. I’ll give you two hours. Bring it to me right away.”

How long had he been waiting for this moment?

Feeling like everything had been put back in its place, Junman let out a laugh that sounded like scraping metal. This was normal. It should have been like this from the beginning.

“Little brother, this is how you threaten someone.”

Junman threw out his final advice as he went back into the house.

***

“Is he really crazy?”

I was serious. I wasn’t using “crazy” as a pronoun to describe someone doing strange things, but I was seriously wondering if my brother had actually gone insane.

“Or is he sick in the head?”

The taxi driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror at my self-talk. When our eyes met, he quickly looked away, pretending he hadn’t heard anything. I had tried to correct this habit of talking to myself that I’d developed at some point, but it wasn’t easy. In the taxi driver’s eyes, I might have been the crazy one.

Fortunately, there was nothing particularly wrong with where my brother had hit me. The inside of my mouth was a bit sore, but his fists were so weak that it didn’t even bruise. I repeated my brother Junman’s words as I watched the scenery quickly passing by.

“…Mitchell sexually harassed me.”

Of course, Mitchell could fall in love with another man. I don’t want to imagine it, but I think it’s possible.

However, I simply couldn’t accept that the person in question was my brother Junman.

First of all, Junman would undoubtedly use love as an excuse to ruin Mitchell’s life.

I had heard before that a noona who was Junman’s ex-girlfriend had been physically abused by him. Of course, I didn’t know at the time, but it was because Junman later bragged about the incident.

I also remembered what Junman had said to me when I refused to appear on a famous talk show around the time I was falling apart in the entertainment industry.

“You should at least go out and explain! Why are you refusing to go on TV?”

“I can’t go.”

“Fuck! Hey, Bae Geon-woo! Do you want to get beaten up like Jeong-i? Do you need a beating to come to your senses? This is already the third CF deal that’s fallen through!”

Of course, someone like Mitchell probably wouldn’t get hit by Junman… No, Mitchell is unexpectedly easygoing, so I can’t be sure. He might even let himself be hit by someone he loves.

Moreover, Junman is the type of person who would sell even people for money. The moment they became lovers, it was obvious that Mitchell’s bank account would be drained like a rainstorm. Even without these reasons, I absolutely, absolutely could not accept their relationship.

“Bae Junman, you’ve gone too far.”

If I had heard Junman’s story without any resistance, the shock would have been enormous. I would have surely pulled my hair out over the relationship between these two people I never wanted to mix. Horrified at the thought of Mitchell falling into hell.

But fortunately, I already knew that Junman’s words were nonsense. Thanks to Mitchell.

“Your brother has been saying strange things?”

That was truly a stroke of luck.
