I'm Not A Master, I'm A Director (Creating Fate Movie In Nasuverse)

Chapter 140: Chapter 142: Arturia: Kiritsugu's Mouth, the Lies of a Trickster!

"Hahaha! Shinji, you really play the clown well!"

While they weren't as excessive as Sakura and her trio, the guys were still thoroughly enjoying Shinji's downfall on screen.

Even Gilgamesh, the king who had been repeatedly humiliated lately, couldn't stop laughing. Tears streamed from his eyes as he watched Shinji's hysterical outburst on TV.

"This is fantastic! This is exactly the kind of scene I've been waiting for!"

Gilgamesh gripped the sofa with both hands, his crimson eyes wide with excitement.

"Well, it's not that great..."

Shinji hadn't even finished speaking before he was interrupted by EMIYA.

"Shinji, isn't this just you playing yourself?" EMIYA teased, "The impotent rage of someone without talent... You really nailed the performance."

Shinji pretended not to hear and calmly sipped his soda.

Lancelot nodded thoughtfully and said, "Master, this is the consequence of your womanizing ways. You should be more faithful."

Does this have anything to do with being a playboy? Besides, aren't you the last person who should lecture me about that?

Seeing that everyone was making fun of him, Cu Chulainn joined in the laughter. "This is truly a classic. I think we should take a screenshot and hang it on the company wall for everyone to admire."

How about I hang you outside the company gate with a banner that says 'No Cu Chulainn or dogs allowed'?

Diarmuid, meanwhile, hadn't said a word, but his expression and the smile he couldn't hide gave away his thoughts.

Laugh all you want. You'll be the one crying later.

When Super 8 is released, Shinji had already decided to send Diarmuid to another production for training, and he would instruct the director to be extra strict with him.

In the end, it was Shirou, the good-natured one, who spoke up in fairness: "Looks like everyone's been waiting for Shinji to have his comeuppance for a while."

Even Shirou, the usual good guy, had an unintentional dark side.

Shinji, who had been trying to maintain his cool and stay silent, couldn't hold back any longer: "As a director, my job is to entertain the audience. If playing the fool brings joy to everyone, I don't mind doing it."

"Hey, Shinji, could you at least say that with a smile? Maybe try lifting the corners of your mouth! Hahaha!"

These guys just won't stop laughing!

Shinji's eyebrow twitched. He struggled to suppress his desire to lash out and tried his best to remain calm.

Of course, Shinji had anticipated that this group would pull something like this before the screening.

Isn't there an old saying?

If no one hates their boss, it just means they aren't working hard enough.

Seeing how much these Heroic Spirits hated him, Shinji was actually quite satisfied.

However, he didn't expect them to be this invested in his misfortune.

Is it because I'm usually so outstanding that they're all jealous?

Shinji indulged in a moment of narcissistic reflection.

"Come on, let's watch it again. I want to burn Shinji's foolishness into my memory."

Gilgamesh clearly wasn't satisfied with just one viewing and was about to rewind to watch the scene again.

Shinji quickly stopped him. "Don't do something so pointless. Watching the same scene over and over again is a waste of time!"

"Isn't it satisfying? Watching you suffer." Gilgamesh smirked.

"I don't see the appeal at all," Shinji huffed.

"Master, you don't want to go home so soon, do you?" Enkidu said gently, "Rewatching scenes is a great way to kill time."

"This isn't killing time, it's wasting it!"

"Tsk, tsk, such a gentle voice, but Master, you're such a hothead."

"Cu Chulainn, do you want to lose your lead role?"

"Master, please, don't do that!!"

"Such a loyal little dog, huh? You're even willing to throw away your pride as a hero just for a lead role. Enkidu, give me the remote."

"Here, Gil."

"Ah! Enkidu, stop using the Chains of Heaven! They're all tangled around my hand!"

"Great, Gilgamesh, you can go die now! Master Li, it's your turn!"

"Idiot, don't just start fighting! You've spilled the soda!"

...

"Things are quite peaceful, huh."

Shirou stayed out of the fray, calmly observing from the sidelines.

He feared that if he joined in, someone might rewind the scene where he got wrecked by Heracles in one strike.

Now that I think about it, Shinji set his character up as someone obsessed with being the heir of the Matou family and dedicated to magecraft.

But in reality, he's already attained both of those things long ago. Is this what Shinji calls 'Versailles Literature'?

Watching Shinji bicker with the Servants, Shirou couldn't help but have these thoughts.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

"The sacrifices Matou Shinji made were really huge."

In the magus club, a young female magi dabbed at the corners of her eyes, where there weren't any actual tears, and spoke in a sad tone.

"He's clearly a magical genius, yet he gave himself such a role in the story. I've always thought Mr. Matou should be the protagonist."

"Sir Matou would never do something so trivial," Alice answered seriously. "He makes films to promote magecraft, not for profit."

"I heard that Mr. Matou still doesn't have much in savings because he invests all his money into building his film company."

"Really?"

Shibamatsu asked curiously.

Alice nodded and relayed what Touko had previously told her to the young magus present.

"Sir Matou Shinji has three main reasons for making movies."

"First, Sir Matou hopes that lower-level magus can use their skills to earn a living and improve their magic through their work."

"Second, Sir Matou wants to break the aristocratic monopoly in the magic world and give more of a voice to commoner magus."

"Third, Sir Matou aims to broaden everyone's horizons so they stop chasing pointless, outdated theories that the aristocrats only wrote to maintain their control. True knowledge comes from practice, and those seeking the Root need the courage to take risks."

These were all grandiose statements that Shinji had used to convince Touko, but now that Alice was preaching them, the young magus were filled with passion. Each one seemed ready to follow Matou Shinji and conquer the world.

Shibamatsu, overwhelmed with emotion, stood up on the sofa, clenched his fist, and loudly swore, "To restore the glory of magus, it's our duty!"

Then he quickly sat back down. "But first, let's finish watching HF."

"Hey, Shibamatsu!" *N

Everyone shouted in unison, but no one actually moved from their spot; their attention returned to the TV.

In this world, there was nothing more important than watching a movie.

The whole point of this all-night gathering was to watch films, after all.

After enduring the slightly dull opening of the school romance, the plot had finally reached an exciting point, and nothing was going to stop them from watching.

In truth, although the school scenes at the start of HF were long, the divergence from the Fate movie and UBW series occurred earlier in HF.

Originally, after Shirou was defeated by Heracles, he should have slept until morning. But in the HF line, he got up after a short rest.

He quickly encountered Rider and Shinji on his way home, and just as quickly, Rider made her "exit."

"Man, Rider really got the short end of the stick," Shibamatsu commented. "In each version, she exits earlier and dies in more humiliating ways."

Alice nodded. "I thought Sakura was the main heroine in HF, so I expected more screentime for the Matou family's Servant. But she gets dismissed even more casually."

Alice glanced at the HF DVD cover.

In the main visual, Medusa was prominently placed below the heroine, Sakura.

"She's in such a noticeable position, yet her exit is so abrupt," Alice muttered. "If someone bought the DVD just for the tight-suited, busty girl, wouldn't they be yelling for a refund?"

"There wouldn't be people like that... probably?"

Shibamatsu wasn't entirely sure.

Since it was an OVA release, the trailers for HF were pretty simple, so Shibamatsu couldn't confirm if Medusa had more scenes later on.

Meanwhile, the HF story continued on screen.

After defeating Shinji, Shirou carried Mitsuzuri to the church, where he discussed his foster father, Kiritsugu Emiya, with Kirei Kotomine.

"Finally! They're finally talking about Kiritsugu, the protagonist of the prequel!"

Seeing this, Shibamatsu, a dedicated Fate/Zero fan, was so emotional that he nearly cried.

Since the FSN movie came out before Fate/Zero, it made sense that Kiritsugu wasn't mentioned much.

But the lack of focus on Kiritsugu in UBW had frustrated Shibamatsu.

As the person who set Shirou on his path of ideals, Kiritsugu should've been referenced more frequently.

Aside from the memory of Kiritsugu's death, he barely appeared, which left Shibamatsu, a huge Kiritsugu fan, deeply unsatisfied.

But now that HF had finally touched on Kiritsugu's ideals, Shibamatsu felt fulfilled.

"As it turns out, Matou Shinji wasn't lying when he said HF was the FSN version most connected to Fate/Zero! Mom, thank you for giving birth to me!"

"You're exaggerating too much," Alice shifted her seat a little farther away from Shibamatsu, not letting her expression change.

Meanwhile, the trio in the Matou house had a different perspective on this scene.

"The ideal of being a 'Hero of Justice'... It's such a heavy burden," Arturia sighed deeply.

"Uncle Emiya was pretty obsessive in Fate/Zero, though he was always such a kind elder in real life."

Sakura pursed her lips. "Other than with Onii-sama, he was always kind to us younger ones. But with Onii-sama, Uncle Emiya was really wary, as if he thought Onii-sama was after Illya for some nefarious reason."

That's probably why Uncle Emiya's ending was so tragic in Fate/Zero, Medusa thought as she pushed up her glasses, feeling like she had uncovered the truth.

"Kiritsugu, huh?"

Arturia's expression turned a bit strange.

Sakura asked curiously, "Miss Arturia, do you not like Uncle Emiya?"

"I always felt he wasn't very reliable."

Arturia rubbed her temples, clearly troubled. "In both the movies and real life, didn't Kiritsugu often teach Shirou and Master not to make girls cry?"

"That does sound familiar."

Sakura recalled hearing something like that more than once.

"But... didn't he make me cry himself? (In the movie.)"

"That was in the movie, right?"

Arturia shook her head. "But Kiritsugu once told me during a break on set that if the Holy Grail War were real, he would probably make the same choices. Which means... he really intended to make me cry."

Sakura clapped her hands and laughed, "So that means Uncle Emiya didn't see you as a girl, Miss Arturia! Congratulations, Your Majesty, King of Knights, you've succeeded in your disguise as a man!"

Arturia grimaced. "Sakura, are you complimenting me, or are you mocking me?"
