Chapter 61: Orochimaru's last attempt.
In a nearby forest, a decapitated snake head stirred, its eyes snapped open and its mouth opened, retching as a human figure crawled out of it.
Orochimaru crawled out, looking haggard and emaciated, he coughed for a moment before steadying himself.
He crawled over to a tree and used it as support, slowly standing up. His face was twisted into an expression of hate.
The Eight Branches Technique took a heavy toll on his body, he would have to switch hosts soon, he could feel it in his bones.
So close, so close, The Order almost managed to kill him, but not quite.
He needed more power, this fight showed that, he was too complacent, he needed to research Space-Time Ninjutsu, that was the start of the end.
The only reason he was forced to use the Eight Branches Technique at all was because he couldn't escape from Zabuza's Jutsu.
He stumbled slowly, trying to be as quiet as possible, his mind was running through plans, plotting and scheming for his revenge.
But a minute later, he was interrupted by the creaking of branches behind him, he tried to run faster but his body refused to cooperate.
A thing walked out from the trees in front of him, three golden eyes staring down at him.
"Impressive, truly impressive." It complimented him. "To think you would manage to survive even that."
Its voice was casual, but it positioned itself in such a way that there was no escape for Orochimaru.
"W-" Orochimaru coughed, still struggling to talk. "Why?"
He wanted to say more, but his throat refused to cooperate.
"What casual arrogance, why not? You have targeted the Order, and we have retaliated." It answered, understanding his meaning, before tilting its head slightly. "You have grown comfortable being the monster hiding in the darkness, Orochimaru.
Orochimaru went through his options quickly, he had almost no Chakra left, his body was a husk, how can he survive?
He could Summon again, but missing most of his Chakra meant that he couldn't summon anything strong enough to fight this... creature.
"But I should not spit on my Creator's teachings." The creature tilted it's head upwards, looking at the sky. "Creator, I ask for a boon, my breath is not strong enough to eradicate this parasite, grant me power, so I may erase him."
Orochimaru glanced upwards, seeing only a clouded sky, what was thi-
His thought was cut off as he noticed a silhouette above the clouds, he recognized that it was human shaped, on its head, hidden by the thick clouds, he saw three small lights.
The constant surprises were starting to get old.
The figure's eyes flashed slightly, it disappeared.
"Thank you, Creator." The creature said in gratitude, Orochimaru turned back to it, did something happen?
He shook off his curiosity, it really was his greatest vice,
He inhaled deeply, exhaling the paralysing gas inherent in his blood directly at the beast, and turned around, he needed to escape, this body was a loss, but maybe he could hide and hibernate.
If any of the higher up from Otokagure survived, then there was a chance they may find him.
Or a random farmer, at this point, he would take anything.
His insides twisted and changed, morphing into a white snake, or rather, shifting closer to his true shape, he had to make this look convincing.
Behind him, the crow-beast took a deep breath, uncaring of the poison in the air, inflating to almost double its size, fire started leaking through its feathers and beak, at first white, but they slowly turned gold.
Orochimaru stumbled, he didn't even need to pretend, he fell onto the ground and spit out a mouthful of blood, his shredded insides providing all the materials necessary for this performance.
His true body burrowed through his stomach and into the earth.
A golden beam hit his discarded flesh, obliterating it, his true body dove deeper and deeper into the earth, but he was too slow.
The beam pierced the ground, expanding as it went deeper, it melted through the earth.
And then it exploded.
A massive pillar of golden flames burst upwards, reaching far enough into the sky that the surrounding clouds dissipated, it held for a few seconds before collapsing back in.
Orochimaru turned into ash, floating amongst molten rock.

I watched as Yatagarasu finished the job, I think I gave him a bit too much power, but better safe than sorry.
This was going well, losses were rare, mostly one hit kills that I didn't react to quick enough to save them, mostly Initiates since the cold reality was that they were less valuable, I focused most of my attention on the Acolytes and Templars.
But now the biggest threat was gone, Zabuza had proven his worth today, and now all that was left was clean up.
Orochimaru's surviving forces would be sieged down, Zabuza had already given the order to wait them out, once the poison gas thinned enough they would assault Otogakure, it could take a few hours or even days, but for now, we were done.
I left Yatagarasu and Zabuza alone for now, Yata would contact me if they started the assault.
Instead, I started walking with my Osamu body, there were many smaller hideouts hidden across the elemental Nations, someone would have to take care of them.

2 DAYS LATER
Otogakure was lost.
They had put up a fight, but in the end, they had been trapped inside their own underground fortress, giving them nowhere to run.
Kabuto was running, Orochimaru-sama still hadn't returned, a part of him feared the worst.
But it didn't matter, he knew what to do.
First, he needed to escape the siege.
The earth flowed around him as he used Earth Release: Subterranean Voyage, travelling as fast as he could, away from Otogakure.
But as he moved, he hit a wall, his Jutsu unable to move the earth in front of him.
He tried again, but no matter how much Chakra he fed into his Jutsu, he couldn't dig through, his only choice was to surface.
With a burst of dirt, he jumped out, Kunai at the ready.
He froze in place, around him stood almost a dozen people, each wearing a featureless white masks.
How unfortunate, he quickly planned an approach, and threw his Kunai on the ground.
"A-ah, I surrender! P-please don't hurt me"
He laid down his weapons and raised his hands over his head. "I-I can tell you everything, just please don't hurt me."
He put on a scared expression, slightly panicked and unsure.
"Wow, just like Intel said." One of them noted with some awe. "The Intelligence Wing is scary."
"Yeah, that's pretty freaky, a fake surrender straight away?" Another one mumbled, impressed.
Kabuto tensed up, they knew about him? He was pretty unknown, since he only fully joined Orochimaru a year ago. They must have infiltrators in Otogakure then.
But... that means there is only one way out.
Fighting.
He rushed forward, going for the nearest man, Chakra Scalpel in hand, but before he could close the distance between them, they responded with a variety of Jutsu.
Lightning Release: Electromagnetic Murder
Wind Release: Vacuum Blade
Fire Release: Phoenix Flower
Kabuto jumped back, but a voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Down."
His knees buckled beneath him and he hit the ground, a weight descended on his shoulders, holding him down.
The Jutsus hit him at the same time, scorching his flesh and cutting it apart at the same time, he screamed.
He could survive, he just needed to use Yin Healing Wound Destru-
His scream and thoughts were cut off as an Earth Release: Rock Pillar Spear pierced through his throat.
