I’m a Fake Saintess But the Gods Are Obsessed With Me

Chapter 156 - Side Story 10

“Saintess. I used the gauntlet well.”

The day after the martial arts gathering, I was having a leisurely time at the shop when Noah came to return the gauntlet to me.

“And for saving me and my colleagues yesterday… Thank you very much.”

Sitting blankly thinking about yesterday’s events, I looked at Noah’s hand and said,

“Thank you, but I don’t want to get it back.”

“You said I could return it. I know this is very expensive. For an apprentice knight like me, it’s still…”

“You said you would show off your cool look. You haven’t shown it yet.”

At my words, Noah narrowed his eyes.

“That…”

“Well, yesterday’s goblin eradication was cool, but that’s not enough.”

I smiled at Noah.

“Give me back when you’re good enough to catch a black wyvern later.”

A small smile appeared on Noah’s lips as he looked at me for a while.

“So… You’re saying you don’t want it returned.”

“Who said so. If you have the skills to defeat Black and this time, I’ll even pay you interest.”

Noah put the gauntlet back into his arms and said.

“His Highness the Crown Prince’s abilities yesterday were phenomenal. I don’t know if I’ll even follow his toes at all… Since the Saintess set me on fire, I must work even harder.”

[The God of Destruction, Ciel, boasts that following Kyle is impossible.]

I leaned back in my chair and looked at Noah.

“Alright. Keep up the good work.”

Noah grinned and took another item out of his arms, handing it to me. It was a small medal. The Imperial mark was engraved on the copper medallion.

“A medal given to excellent knights of the Martial Arts Association by the Imperial Palace Knights.”

I accepted it.

“Oh, it’s so cool, isn’t it?”

Among the apprentice knights, his skills were outstanding, so he deserved this award.

When I received it, Noah turned around.

“Wait. What about the medal?”

“It’s my gift. I also refuse to take it back.”

“But it’s meaningful, though…”

Noah looked back and said to me, who stood up from my seat.

“That’s why I’m giving it to you.”

“Hm?”

Seeing a puzzled expression on my face, Noah smiled and left the shop.

[The God of Benevolence, Oman, once again looks forward to Noah’s future.]

I looked at Noah’s medallion and hung it in plain sight with a faint smile.

‘If it’s a gift, I should receive it.’

Noah, a skilled apprentice knight, uses our shop’s gauntlet, so I should advertise that.

By the way… That fellow, it seemed like he was going to work really hard.

Then the door opened again.

“…?”

I wondered if Noah would come back in, but I was startled by Kyle’s face and my shoulders stiffened.

“Ah, hello.”

[The God of Destruction, Ciel’s tail moves automatically.]

I remembered the image of him riding on top of a wyvern yesterday with a flower on his sword.

The dust that blew in and the bright red eyes that pierced me. There was a gap between that wild appearance and the neat uniform of the present.

“There are quite a few things.”

He said as he scattered the holy stones on the shelf with his eyes.

“Are you here to buy something?”

“No.”

The Imperial Palace must have been overflowing with inexpensive holy stones of this level.

He came closer to me as I stood, looked me in the eye, and then moved his gaze to the wall.

After a while, I turned my head to follow him, his eyes fixed on Noah’s medal.

“…”

Moments later, as he approached the medal, he took out a shiny golden medallion from his arms and hung it over Noah’s.

Then Noah’s medal was covered and no longer visible.

I couldn’t figure out why he was behaving like this.

“What… is that?”

“It was originally a medal awarded to the mercenary who did the most to catch the black wyvern in the third act of the third day… I caught it, so I show it off here.”

The black wyvern was engraved on the medal along with the Imperial pattern.

“If you put it like that, that one will be covered, though…”

“I’m doing it to cover it.”

“Yes?”

“You’re making me uneasy even to a kid.”

He furrowed his eyebrows and spat out words in annoyance, then approached me again.

[The God of Benevolence, Oman, is very satisfied with Kyle’s response.]

[The God of Knowledge, Hessed, tries to curse Kyle for being petty, but notices Ciel.]

[The God of Destruction, Ciel, snarls while revealing his teeth.]

Soon Kyle pointed his finger at the golden medal.

“Enjoy it all the time.”

“…?”

“You said it’s cool. The image of a warrior hunting monsters at a martial arts gathering.”

I remember saying something similar.

‘No way…’

“Look at that and praise Your Highness every day… You don’t mean this, do you?”

At that, he raised one corner of his lips and put his hand on my shoulder.

His face came closer to me. My heart starts pounding again.

Red lips spoke softly.

“Similar. I mean, think about me every day.”

[The God of Love, Odyssey, loves Kyle’s remarks.]

[The God of Benevolence, Odyssey, evaluates that level of expression as a love eunuch.]

Thump, thump, thump.

My heart raced

He continued to stare into my eyes as closely as possible.

Suddenly, my gaze landed on his lips, then I belatedly gasped and pushed his chest.

When he says something like this, I keep thinking about it strangely.

[What if I like you enough to marry you?]

I remembered what he said before I was summoned by the Emperor who was planning to promote a national marriage one day. When I told him not to joke, he didn’t bother denying it.

He has always been like that before. If he comes and drops a person’s heart, he doesn’t cross the line to some extent.

I recalled a phrase from a love book I read the other day.

[A man doesn’t confuse the person he likes.]

So, considering I’m confused like this, that means he doesn’t like me.

”…I don’t want to.”

[The God of Destruction, Ciel’s face hardens.]

[The God of Love, Odyssey, expresses regret today for your born-to-be-solo career.]

His eyes shook at the words I brought out while thinking about it.

I grabbed the medal again and held it out to him.

“Take it.”

His red eyes contained me.

I opened my mouth again to him, who didn’t accept the medal.

“I hate illusions like this.”

[The God of Benevolence, Oman, grabs the back of his neck and asks Odyssey for a soda.]

I could see his eyes twitching a little hearing my words.

My heart is thumping like this, and I don’t know why the area around my chest is throbbing.

He opened his mouth.

“What illusion are you talking about?”

Without answering, I reached out and turned him around, pushing his back.

I felt something warm in my ears.

I didn’t feel very good about this unknown relationship, as if I was drunk in water.

After he left and closed the door, I sat down after a while.

[The God of Destiny, Bellatrix, is the one at peace at this frustrated party.]

My mind was complicated.

***

“Saintess, there is a guest from the Imperial Palace.”

A few days later, while having tea time at a table in the garden, Daisy came and whispered to me.

At the word ‘Imperial Palace’, my hand holding the teacup flinched for a moment.

“Who…?”

When I asked cautiously, remembering the red eyes, I heard a man’s voice.

“Saintess.”

As I turned my head, I saw a familiar face. It was Shane Rockford, someone like Kyle’s henchman.

The moment I saw his face, I felt a little disappointed. Then I was briefly surprised at my own disappointment.

“Ah, hello.”

I barely came to my senses and stood up to greet him.

“I’m sorry that I came so suddenly and disturbed the Saintess.”

“No. I was just getting bored.”

Shane Rockford sat across from me, and Daisy brought out another set of teacups and poured tea into his.

Seeing the cookies in the basket, Shane asked Daisy.

“Do you have any dried apricots? They seem to go well with tea.”

“Ah, I see you like it.”

Daisy said, blushing slightly as Shane sent her an eye smile.

“I will bring it now.”

Dried apricots were a representative refreshment of Illide. I didn’t enjoy it that much though.

When Daisy left then it was just the two of us, Shane spoke.

“I’m not the kind of person who gets involved in other people’s love affairs, but it’s because His Highness the Crown Prince would interfere with my work.”

“Pardon?”

The words ‘His Highness the Crown Prince’ made my heart flutter.

I pretended to be calm on the outside, looking into Shane’s eyes.

“I mean, it’s low pressure. He seemed quite happy when he went to the Saintess’ shop with a medal. When I asked if his courtship was rejected, he didn’t even answer.”
